I really LOVE that modern cartoons have Emotional Continuity, stuff like Steven Universe with Sardonyx, Ducktales with Luey being grounded, The Owl House with Lilith, and here with Anne and Hop Pop, we are shown that what happened *Matters* Because even the characters don't know how to handle the situations

(*vigorous bird twerking*) -Matt Braly is a big Legend of Zelda fan. He has stated that he pulled some inspiration for Amphibia from Breath of the Wild. It definitely shows. -I love the flashback of Anne being an absolute goblin. Shoes on the bed. Snacking on a bag of giant marshmallows. I think we've all done something similar as kids. -Kinda funny how Matt drew inspiration from Breath of the Wild, but in Tears of the Kingdom, there are puzzles where the key creates a laser beam pointing to your destination. -"Oh, it's you!" Clearly by "you" you meant "GENERAL YUNNAN! SCOURGE OF THE SAND WARS! DEFEATER OF RAGNAR THE WRETCHED! AND THE YOUNGEST NEWT TO EVER ACHIEVE THE RANK OF GENERAL IN THE GREAT NEWTOPIAN ARMY!" -What? What king worth their salt has never sought counsel from an eldritch being they keep in their basement?

To the credit of the game, the last test didn't say Intelligence, it said *Wisdom*[Echoed at the end] meaning that Marcy might have played RTS, but she sorely Missed out on The Art Of War: "Supreme Excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting."

I LOVE how Anne doesn't immediately forgive or trust Hop Pop after the previous episode. It feels very realistic. I'm really glad more animated shows are showing that the emotional damage caused by these situations matter and I love how it teaches kids that it's okay not to forgive someone immediately. Trust needs time to be rebuilt.

King Andrias saying "The prophecy is being *un*done as we speak" always catches me off-guard. In stories it's always about the characters working to *fulfill* a prophecy, but other than Amphibia, I've personally never come across someone working to *undo* one (or at the very least not before it's already been fulfilled during the story first).

Mosco, I Have great news: someone solved the language back during the tourist episode in Newtopia when the show was still airing; they even made a custom font for ancient Amphibian, since it's just a letter substitution cipher.

While Amphibia likely is referencing HP with the chess game (since it's the most well-known example) HP did not come up with the concept. Human chess has been a concept since the Middle Ages, and likely she-who-shall-not-be-named got the idea from Lewis Carroll's 'Alice in Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass' where Alice herself was made a pawn in the game. This a full century before HP appeared.
