Here we go: the episode where we realise Thragg is THIS level of threat! 😱 Also, Emperor Argyll is voiced by Frank Welker, who also voiced Megatron. Fitting him being the antagonist of Peter Cullen, VA of Optimus Prime. RIP. 💙

Justin Riley

No, not what on earth. What on Viltrum...

Androzani84

My fake spoiler as a comic reader is that, based on the covers (I haven’t read that far ahead), Mark goes through a reverse Michael Jackson situation.

Adan Guzman

It’s implied General Kregg lost his eye during the Scourge Virus since he was seen having two eyes before the virus spread throughout the planet Viltrum and then seen with one eye after losing billions of Viltrumites to the virus and we also saw that Conquest lost his eye and right arm from the Rognarrs due to the virus affecting their ability to heal. And in Nolan’s backstory, he told the kids that Emperor Argall was assassinated by the Betrayer and that’s how Thaedus got that name.

Justin Riley

Meet Thragg, the scariest villain in the series.

Suplee215

Thetis's change of heart is because of years living outside of viltrimite society Like Nolan he embraced the other societies. When you break down viltrimite society, theyre faschists with superpowers to back up their claims of superiority. Cultural diversity is always an issue with that mindset. Of couse what held Nolan back was dreams of rebuilding viltrim and not letting his mising die. And I think that explains why Nolan sees destroying the planet as the only option. Its stopping their society from growing.empathy by always looking to rebuilding the past

Yoshinatorsaurus

And THIS is where Thragg proved the Fraud Watch allegations wrong tenfold. THIS is why he's absolutely the most terrifying villain in the series. Also, seeing him kill Thadeus is even more of a gutpunch after Peter Cullen's death. RIP to a legend.

ChaosTheory786

A fun fact you may or may not apricate, that's already been mentioned, but Argall was voiced by Frank Welker, he and Cullen played Optimus and Megatron in the Transformers.

Suplee215

Got to disagree on humans not veing any better. Humans certainly has issues byt most humans have some semblence of empathy. If the same order was given to humans yo purge society they won't consider it a free for all. Family units will at the very least band together. We saw un Nolan's flashbacks that parents after this at least see if their kid is strong enough on their 18th Birthday. Humans coukd easily become like viltrimites though. As for the reason for the purge, it was stupid eugenics . presumably the ones with the most empathy and hesitancy to harm others will be killed

Themoon

Battle Beast didn't run away. Thragg ripped off his jetpack, and threw him into space, and since he can't fly he couldn't rejoin the fight.

Amadeo Escobedo

Space Racers laser does go on forever, but that's why he at least claims hes careful lol

KingCurze

Battle Beast can't fly. He was wearing a jetpack that got destroyed by Thragg.

HarbingerXIII

As much of a unit Battlebeast is, he is heavily limited in space combat. Had this been a battle on the ground of viltrum, he would have had an easier time. The Ragnarrs probably would have been much more effective as well. One of my fave episodes so far tho! RIP Peter Cullen.

Alexandru Ulesan

Destroying the planet had more of a symbolic value. Nolan likely came up with it while listening to Thragg go on and on about rebuilding it

Willoak

space is stupidly and unimaginably vast and empty. the likely hood the infinity ray hitting something is very unlikely.

Armando Reyes

Remember battle beast got sent flying by thragg

HarbingerXIII

Mark-"How do we beat him?" Nolan-" That's the neat part, ya don't."

Adrian Lee

Will Elijah watch " Invincible "?

EDHPlayer

Thragg time and time again is proven to his own beliefs that mercy is weakness and is to be culled. Doubt is the killer of his resolve, and every time he doubted, he was hurt. Thragg showed mercy to Thaddeus, and that mercy was rewarded with the assassination of Emperor Argall. Thragg offered mercy to Nolan, and Nolan led the charge to destroy Viltrum. From then on, mercy was no longer an option. Twice burned, Thragg no longer had any doubt in his mind: weakness only brings heartache and pain. And mercy is a weakness.

JojoTrees

Battle beast can’t fly and thragg ripped off his jetpack which is why he wasn’t there in the last part of the fight and to be honest everyone else would’ve been turned to paste if they tried fighting thragg

Geass

Space Racer's laser will go on forever, but it won't destroy every planet and moon it hits. It will just burn a hole through it, which is why Nolan, Thaedus, and Mark had to follow behind it. Also, the universe is mostly empty space.

Geass

I don't think the ray, by itself, would destroy a planet or moon. It would just leave a hole in it. That's why it took a combined effort to destroy the planet.

Speed1247

Viltrum is what I see as a final stage fascist society one where everyone and everything goes to the nation (empire). Not one person in that society is free, not the lowest slave or the emperor himself, all must follow the will of the empire. (Like no one person can change it and anyone who wants to would be eliminated, thus sustaining itself forever a true end state of fascism that is utterly disturbing in how there is only victims who hold each other down in the end)

Speed1247

I see viltrum as an end state fascist society, where everyone and everything goes to the empire. (No one is free, all must follow the doctrine they created or be destroyed/purged. From the lowest slave to the emperor himself, not one could break those laws and survive, because it's so ingrained in them that to turn against it is to become a traitor)

Speed1247

Thragg is such a sad villain, cause you can see the good inside him if he wasn't brainwashed from birth into being the most ideal member of the viltrum empire, he has so much heart, but it's covered by this sense of duty to the point of insanity which drives him.

Suplee215

Agree. Humans hvent gotten there as an entire species yet.

Speed1247

Also black holes, canonically black holes are the only thing that can stop space racer's gun.

Suplee215

Yup. And part of fascism is beijg a hypocrite and not holding the the government accountable to the same standards.

Marion Ette

Hey, Mosco, Nolan specifically said that 50% of all Viltrumites died in the Purge.

Rupert Anderson Jr

Mark: "Dad, how do we beat him?" Nolan: Mark...we're cooked."

Rupert Anderson Jr

Thragg is him, has been him, and will continue to be him.

supersoaker

48:44 Thragg's barber must be so proud of his work

James Jones

Gotta say it’s nice to see a reactor with knowledge of animation actually appreciating the good sections of it in the show. A lot of the fandom complains about the bad parts ad nauseam (which I don’t disagree with as there are definitely subpar moments) but neglect or downplay when it actually shines. It’s a great pallet cleanser. Can’t wait for the finale!

Alvin Everett

RIP Peter Cullen (va of Thaedus, and most famously Optimus Prime)

Akka

One thing to note about the purge is that Thragg never once specified how to "seek out the weakness". Once he said it, the first thing that came to mind was to kill each other, which goes to show just how ruthless and indoctrinated everyone in Viltrum society is. The whole point of the purge was so that only the most ruthless viltrumites survived and that any with merciful tendencies like Thaedus would be wiped out. Thaedus killed Argall as a warning, but they took it as a challenge, which ultimately caused him to create the scourge virus in an attempt to wipe them out completely. Something else to note is that there was absolutely nothing anyone could do to Thragg in this situation. Yes, they had the darts and Space Racer's gun, but Thragg was far too fast for them to hit him. The only who could actually challenge him directly was Battle Beast, but he's severely limited in space combat. If they were on the ground, then he would fair much better against them and could actually threaten Thragg in a physical confrontation.

BakaSama

There’s Viltrumites and then there’s THRAGG. He is a different beast altogether as he showed Oliver with his impression of Windshield vs. Bug.

Adrian Lee

Where's your Discord? Wanted to see u play Dispatch

Miranda Corvus

Optimus Prime finally grew a pair and ended Megatron :D

Omer Zauber

53:55 - "Remember, the enemy gate is down"

Tristan N Milner

Successful battle tactics are a sign of intellectual strength. Conquest even mentioned following mission perimeters in his first appearance. Viltrumites aren't dumb brutes.

Nicholas J Hoover

I actually think they just add unimportant stuff in the preview to jebait and throw you off so the preview content doesn't spoil too much

iCommentToPlay

Mosco wardrobe looks great for Invincible! Shes got the same colour scheme as Invincible's superhero costume!

Animegirl

This should have been the ep you drank, lol.

Shaky Tail Studios

What's funny about the Purge is that most Viltrumites survived by jumping or surprising their foes not through being the strongest or most skilled. So what he got a few stand outs if we look at the actual fighters surviving so many of them are just sneak attackers that got lucky, they could be on the weaker & more cowardly end for all we known XD
