Thee dungeon crawler has changed concept somewhat. The world of alien carnage and goo extraction has been folded into Xenocidaire while @outletarchive and myself (you should check out their Twitter and Patreon, seriously) have dreamed up a new setting for our dungon crawling roguelike thing.

Crawler (working title, ofc) is set on a biomechanical-techno-fantasy megastructure slowly devouring a sun, timeless and ancient, full of crypts and warren-palaces, echoes and fragments of an immortal empire determined to survive beyond the end of everything.

The universe of space crypts and zero-point energy powered lich's pairs well with the use of old paintings, public domain illustrations, and similar materials that are used to the digital collages I've been using as textures for the models in all of these projects.

These collages here serve as both inspiration for myself, for the atmosphere and characters. The distorted smiles of long dead nobility, captured mid-molt, sloughing off old biomechanical carapace or yesterday's skins--a genre of painting that for the immortals of the megastructure, has the classical, coy eroticism of nymphs caught bathing in a Renaissance painting.

The collages are meant to evoke, for me, dynasties that have come and gone, religions rising from prescribed cult to imperial religion to back again, and the purges and campaigns of newly crowned emperors.

I have made, and will make, many more than just the ones shared here, though I believe these are some of the best I've done so far. Hope you enjoy.

On the one hand, I'm a little prickled because a religious, yet decadent biotech empire of immortal transhuman nobles who go through periodic molts is a big part of my own sci fi setting. On the other hand, it just pushes me to make it more with my own spin on it! But as always, your stuff gives me a lot of inspiration. I definitely see new angles to think in.

love these. what tools/methods are you using to make collages like this? i really want to make this kind of thing for some of my tabletop games but am pretty much clueless when it comes to graphic design
