Patreon October Edition (Patreon)
Content
Hello Patreon users,
It has been a little while -
Here is a bigass changelog.
Menus and options: Refreshed the ImGui menus with improved centering, scaling, navigation, and support for both 4:3 and widescreen displays. Improved coordination between the engine pause menu, ImGui, and console.
Options controls: Corrected keyboard-binding behavior and added settings for continuous monster speech and player-name tags.
Multiplayer lobbies: Added Steam lobby creation, joining, readiness, and campaign launching. Moved the legacy multiplayer interface inside Multiplayer.
Lobby presentation: Added selected-model portraits, improved avatar orientation and text alignment, reduced portrait sizes, and moved Ready to a prominent bottom-center button with red/green outlines. Duplicate character selections are supported, with existing unlock restrictions respected.
Campaign selection: Added Hard-Life, Hard-Life Training, Half-Life Classic+, and Half-Life Training. Added support for additional campaign definitions under the campaigns directory.
Campaign saving and resuming: Connected multiplayer campaign progress to save stations and trigger_autosave. Repeated checkpoints now update one campaign entry instead of producing an excessive list of saves. Added preservation of the previous checkpoint.
Save management: Added saved-game deletion with confirmation dialogs and corrected clipped button text.
Restored weapon effects: Corrected client weapon-event handling intended to prevent mismatched firing effects and sounds on listen-server hosts after restoring a campaign.
Multiplayer downed state: Added crawling, bleed-out, teammate revival, give-up handling, and checkpoint recovery when the squad is defeated. Added a server-creation gameplay option to enable or disable the system.
Revival improvements: Shortened manual revival to five seconds and increased revived health to 11. Improved syringe/medical revival handling and added spectator behavior while waiting for the squad.
Downed HUD: Reworked the display into a compact, centered presentation with an orange progress bar and clearer instructions.
Follower ladders: Added ladder traversal for Barney and scientists, including ascending, descending, recognizing the player’s exit, and returning when traversal is abandoned. (Testing Phase)
Scientist support: Added healing behavior for injured friendly units.
Unstuck: Improved impulse 19 with a nearby-position search, crouching-hull support, cooldown, and checks against hazardous or obstructed destinations.
Conversational Barney: Added monster_vox_barney with Vosk speech recognition, local language-model responses, generated speech, and FMOD playback. Added continuous listening, improved character prompting, occasional sarcastic dialogue, and expanded idle conversations.
Voice generation: Added GPU-assisted speech generation, adjusted playback levels, and packaged the dialogue helper as an executable for distribution.
Points-shop interface: Reorganized the shop into Weapons and Models, added weapon/model previews, corrected preview orientations, and introduced hold-to-purchase buttons.
Purchase feedback: Added sound/misc/upgrade.wav when the purchase hold completes. Removed successful-purchase chat announcements that interrupted it with talk.wav.
Shop persistence: Added encrypted local profile storage and a revision-based client/server exchange. Purchases are saved locally before being finalized, with Steam synchronization continuing in the background to protect purchases during rapid map changes.
Scoreboard: Replaced the multiplayer scoreboard with an ImGui version showing Steam avatars, selected-model portraits, names, scores, deaths, and ping. Removed the unreliable NPC/ally-kill columns. Corrected an overlong network-message name that blocked remote Steam identities.
Player names and tags: Removed the initial “changed their name” announcement caused by joining-name cleanup and improved player-tag handling.
Loading transitions: Added multiplayer black fades and an orange spinner. Corrected the handoff to engine loading dialogs, added missing loading-resource variants, and retained spinner-only behavior for singleplayer level changes. Added startup and disconnect-to-menu fades.
Skybox: Corrected the 3D skybox disappearing when the player is dead.
Door movement: Corrected movement-completion and save/restore handling intended to prevent doors becoming stuck or failing to resume travel.
Unified ammunition models: Expanded use of w_ammo.mdl bodygroups and removed redundant precaches for replaced ammunition models. Updated applicable NPC magazine drops.
Interaction highlighting: Improved overlapping brackets on small usable entities and restricted brackets to players wearing a suit.
Entity diagnostics: Configured the requested entity budget and added a developer-level resource/entity display. Model-precache limits remain separate from entity limits.
Aurora particles: Improved particle-manager validation, cleanup, and multiplayer handling.
GS-Physics: Improved map-change rebuilding, resource ownership, cleanup, GPD validation, and collision handling. Physics now initializes automatically when maps load
Scientist ragdoll: Added a fitted scientist physics definition and adjusted ragdoll damping. (More to come)
GS-Physics Editor: Added a standalone editor under hardlife/tools with model previews, physics generation, body/joint editing, GPD import/export, undo/redo, animation selection, blending controls, and interactive simulation.
Cleanup: Removed the redundant ImGui console and NPC-speech HUD indicator, and audited unused experimental assets and distribution dependencies.
