What are serious peoples’ guess for the death count in Gaza? I’ve heard as high as a million and as low as one hundred thousand. I don’t mean to be glib, but one hundred thousand dead seems too low given the scale of the devastation and deprivation.

The only way to know to any level of certainty, you'd have to take a census of Gaza and compare the current population to the pre-October 2023 population. There are so many bodies buried under rubble, it's horrifying. Genocide.

I've heard him promote the book on a few shows, and I immediately tune in. I love citations needed they are very clear eyed and sober and to the point, its an important topic and good to hear him discuss it with different people

it's really isolating. Shows how the only real up to the moment news is consolidated on twitter and it's clearly intentional by musk and the right wing zionists and I wish someone with a platform would address it, b/c the people who need it the most are the left anti-zionist/socialist etc and we are being successfully segregated from each other. All other "town square" media platforms already segregate, it's a work around for outright denial of free speech; corralling into echo chambers no one else can see, making it harder to make NEW connections. They are really winning the censorship game.

July 2024 report from Al Jazeera says 186K... so that was 2 years ago, so it has to be higher. I swear I saw another Lancet report that said at least 200K... but I can't find the report at the moment. Larry Wilkerson, in the early days of the genocide, said with that much "ordnance" , the death count had to be 100K... I think he was saying this in the first year of the genocide. There are some Trump statements/ proposal documents from the founding of the Board of Peace which describe the number of Gazans to be relocated under the scheme as 1.5 million. Which is ~700,000 fewer people than the pre-war population.

Yeah there's also the question of New Gaza ® having a rump population of Palestinian slaves in the Kushner vision of things, meaning there might be some extra space between the numbers, but I would guess we're still probably looking at high six figure range

Yes, it was estimated 690,000 as of June 2025 with 70% of that estimated total being children (in Gaza alone since October 2023 alone). The genocide has continued beyond this end date placing the most accurate estimates higher than 700k. Weaponry, thermobaric bombs I believe they are, VAPORIZE people, making it even more difficult to count in addition to all the precious people buried under rubble. Now imagine my (half) Palestinian American 8th grader and all her peers be subjected to that Legacy Media garbage for the rest of the school year in history class, fueling anti-Palestinian racism (APR) towards her; it was the most dehumanizing war propaganda, incitement to genocide. The most recent school year’s history class featured Netanyahu speeches less any context of international law, the apartheid system, occupation, siege, blockade pre-10/7/23, etc., the ICC warrants for his arrest or a Palestinian representative speech for parity. Our Democratic Party politicians including governor Gavin Newsom then signed a censorship bill AB 715 written by the Jewish Lobby to essentially obstruct teaching Palestinian history, culture or the genocide. It is a duopoly mafia and no opposition party.

I'm told that "accuse your enemy of the thing you are doing" is ascribed to Göring, nut really if you read enough history you come to understand that "every accusation is a confession" is literally how European empires did PR for centuries. Any time they poisoned a well or burned down a town or slaughtered hundreds of innocent people they'd always say they were doing it because their victims did it. The most scientific estimates I've been able to find are 75k violent deaths and 8,500 non violent deaths caused by the occupation. While it may be higher it's also important to remember that there are areas where life continues somewhat normally. And there does come a point where we're just guessing. I mean are we really taking some offhand comment from Donnie as more reliable than a Lancet study? Seems dodgey. This is the floor though.
