Re: the extreme racism against Arabs and Middle Eastern people generally…. I think some old racists have the idea Arabs are white and thus “you can’t be racist towards them” because cultural racism isn’t ‘real’ racism. I remember some horrible ex-roommate and ex-friend railing on FB in the 2010s about how some Muslim guy looked white and therefore couldn’t possibly be a victim of racism. And the guy saying this was Jewish!

Anybody have an idea of what book John is talking about at 12:10 about Chinese minority groups? Very interested in that topic. Edit - If what John says about the Wa is true it represents a pretty significant shift in the Burmese conflict. The Wa are the largest, richest and best armed of all the ethnic militias, and their ceasefire agreement with the Tatmadow was a key factor allowing the regime to maintain power over the last decade. If the Wa are newly restive, the regime may not be long for this world.

One thing that has gotten me about the Israeli propaganda is the level of pornography about it. No, not Taija Rae stuff. We're talking Der Stürmer here. The bogus rape stories have gained a level of luridness, and the stories about women having to get the sperm of their dead husbands is just … I really don't have a good word for it. Sick? Creepy? Squick? But the only thing that really came to mind was the sickness of impurity, the whole Streicher schtick of "Jews turning good German women into prostitution" or David Duke's love of "pornography unbecoming of a racist" (which I read as "black dicks in white chicks"). A repulsion not at fictitious rape but at the evil impure person putting his seed in a good Jewish woman, and we have to bomb him to death and carry on our line with our pure sperm and overcome the "demographic issue."

There was a story on NHK (very tame Japanese public channel), saying IDF found weapons at al Shifa but no tunnels yet, with footage of an AK47 behind a MRI scanner. The inept hasbara stuff gets torn apart online, but it's not for that. It's for news outlets to cut together as background footage while they recite the IDF line. That and we all have to talk about hospital tunnels and other obviously ridiculous stuff, rather than the real issue which is the genocide. The tunnels aren't relevant. Children are dying. It's not a complex issue fundamentally. The hasbara is for obfuscating, not for convincing. Even if normies don't buy the bullshit, they'll just avoid the topic cause it seems complicated. Thankfully no one under 35 watches tv or reads newspapers, cause its only Al Jazeera doing journalism at this point.

am I the only one who didn't hear "chewed out"? sure, he was like "c'mon, c'mon" a few times but the way this keeps getting retold you'd think Ames lost an eye or something. maybe it's something about how Hersh looms so large in the field.

Mark, I worked at the Enterprise at JFK Airport for four months in 2006. Anywhere from 30-50% of our customers were Sy Hersh, and those figures doubled if they had a Florida license. He's just a kind of guy! But then again we're not soft like up in "Rochester".
