The wolf charged at Atzli with teeth bared and paws out in a deadly pounce. The large beast hit the bark and leaf-clad warrior with a growl, threatening to knock her to the ground. In an instant, vines from Atzli's feet shot deep into the ground and grasped at the earth, protecting Atzli and keeping her on her feet as she twisted to retaliate with a well-placed swing of her sword.

The idea for this subclass came after I finished working on the Everwood items and its connection to the Great Everwood Tree. Given how immensely powerful the Tree is, I thought it'd be interesting to explore what a treelike patron might be. This subclass isn't limited to just the Everwood in this case - any tree or druidic entity will also work.
Some refinement of the Everwood might be needed later on - I balanced this off some of Tasha's subclasses, which are pretty powerful compared to the previous ones. It focuses on helping allies and buffing them.
The typical warlock progression is simple: gain a subclass-defining 1st level feature, some defensive, resistive, or mobility-based 6th and 10th level features (their offensive power comes from full-caster spells), and then a 14th level powerful capstone.
Let's take a look at the Everwood Warlock:
Nature's Blessing provides a utility cantrip and proficiency for flavor.
Arboreal Core provides versatility in use, from dealing more damage to protecting allies. The Piercing Thorns feature is similar to the Genie's extra damage.
Armor of Bark gives you a standard protective feature, though not as strong as resistance. Might free up an invocation from Mage Armor.
Life of the Ancients gives mostly flavor features, and boosts your healing ability (though over a short rest).
Expanse of Roots gives you the transport via plants spell, a very strong one that allows you to basically travel all over the place. It's not a nova offensive use, but I compare it to the Fathomless.
