Who even watches Frieren for the hype and aura farming?!?! are there people like that? I feel like Frieren is cozy, sol fantasy with deep themes (but it never becomes too preachy or something) , it's what it wants to be and doing it perfectly and when it wants to do something different like tournament arc last season it does it almost perfectly, better than most show anyway.

For me, there is just a certain sense of comfort in this show, and even on my first watch-through, certain moments gave me that same type of good feeling of when you get nostalgic for something you loved growing up. Its peak not just from the depth of the characters or quality of animation, those are just the icing on the cake. This show is peak because the slice of life and the way the story is intertwined and told through backstories is just such a masterclass in direction. There are few shows/movies that I can watch on repeat and never get sick of it, and Frieren is one of them. I felt this way about it after just the first few episodes of S1 too, even before it hit #1 on MAL. If we're talking overhyped, every single show is to some extent. If we're talking how close a show came to living up to the hype, Frieren got much closer than most are able to. I enjoyed FMAB, even then I honestly cant think of a reason why Frieren season 1 shouldn't stay on top. As it stands, season 2 honestly has no right yet to be so high on MAL, it basically got the opposite of review bombed because people love the IP so much.
