amygdala is a hard hitting one for sure, to give you some context: amygdala is the part of the brain that deals with emotions and memory. essentially this song is him processing his trauma. both of his parents are thankfully alive but obviously the trauma of his mom’s heart failing when he’s born, his dad having liver cancer but yoongi’s busy working, and his accident where he got hit by a car and couldn’t tell anyone because he was afraid they were going to terminate his trainee career so he lived with the shoulder pain for nearly a decade before finally getting surgery in 2020. the lyrics showcase him asking himself if he made all the right choices, should he have done things differently? the mv tells his journey of realizing that he can’t escape the past/trauma, it’s apart of him and he needs to learn to live with it.

and the “scar” he has in this mv and all of his others is a symbolism of the trauma/pain

yay i'm so glad you loved everything! it's truly the best when you go into something with low/no expectations and then you're just pleasantly surprised! i truly think he is such an incredible rapper and songwriter, his pen game is absolutely no joke and there are times when he is "cocky" with his lyrics but you always know he can back it up which is what makes it so good. he is just such a genius and the way he incorporates traditional instruments into his modern day beats is so good. hopefully you can listen to his mixtapes and albums some day because the lyricism and versatility is just TOO good!

OMG I'm so late, but I loved every second of you falling in love with Yoongi. Amygdala is a very personal song for Yoongi. There is a part of our brain called amygdala, and your brain stores all of your unpleasant memories in the amygdala as a way to protect you against those situations in the future. The lyrics contain several traumatic situations in his life, such as his accident when he was a trainee, in which he was injured in his shoulder and hid it for years from everyone and only in 2020 he had shoulder surgery, his mother’s heart surgery, and his father’s cancer diagnosis. So he begs his amygdala to release him from this pain. In the mv it is also possible to see him taking medication, he makes references to the depressive problems he had, so the medications and the cut on his face are a representation of his pain, which made him stronger over time, even though it left a scar. I really love how Yoongi is sincere and tells all his pain in a very honest and genuine way. I loved your reaction! I always love it when you react to BTS or TXT, they are my treasures. Oh, and you posted this reaction on my birthday! I'm so happy about that!
