Thepaicoman

oh shit, i was actually looking forward to this one!

Xavier Whitt

Eren just matched Marleys energy n met them halfway I respect it.

Jessica

Jean, Connie, and Sasha in particular tried so hard not to kill civilians. T.T They did their part, and tried to keep Floch reined in when possible, who was the one reveling in all the killing like a sicko. The reveal at the end of the episode that Eren forced their hand was rough. No wonder our main characters (except Eren) looked so conflicted. They probably didn't even want to be there. Seriously, fuck Eren, >:(

2bootay

The chick stays getting offended shit be funny the faces she makes she needs to chill out it’s just an anime 🤣

Eugene Conner

I think Eren was just saying that. He could have eaten both of them if he wanted. I think he just has a soft spot for Reiner still.

Quark's Bar
>>109259782

Yeah Eren was the only character we saw murder civilians in this sequence. Maybe Armin, but he was in the naval yard, trying to neutralize a fleet that wants all of his people dead. That's a tough call. Hanje, Jean, Levi, and Mikasa all giving Eren crap at one point or another helps ground the scouts a bit, as it lets us know theyre not complete monsters, just desperate and hamstrung by Eren. They are, after all, engaged in an almost decade long existential war with an enemy that has wiped out more than 20% of their population, whatever the context. Flock probably murdered a couple of puppies off screen.

Gu

Dont remember the start of this episode well but Eren has never titaned three times before it's a fair assumption that he's tired.plus he fought porco and the Warhammer, And also despite the port blown , some degree marlean military is probably on the way, and they don't want to risk the blimp getting shot down

kai

When I watched this the first time, I felt so conflicted because I definitely felt like there was no one to root for, I didn't like Eren at this point. Its so interesting watching it again, I feel like I'm just watching the story unfold without the frustration of feeling like I have to root for anyone. I thought Eren's attack on Marley was jarring for what I expected of his character (initially sort of pegged him as the troupe-y justice type of character) but its really interesting watching it again through you both and noticing things I haven't before

Eugene Conner

All I can say is this show was not written to keep everyone's emotions and opinions on the same page. From the very beginning, a major theme of this show is "Perspective"

KevUrb

This episode was trying to reveal that the OG scouts did not have any part in Eren and Zekes plan, Eren just forced their hand. Also Eren at this point had not disclosed the Royal Blood of Historia being a trigger to activate his founder power, because he was trying to protect her.

Eugene Conner

Ok, since I'm leaving multiple comments already, here's your obligatory "Isayama originally planned to kill Sasha much earlier in the story, but kept her alive because his editor cried and begged him to keep her in the story" comment.

Gu

Gabi is cool, and an Eren parallel in many ways that's supposed to show the hypocrisy of one sided thinking , incredibly executed parallel in many aspects that are pertinent to particular messages, however going towards using elements of post basement to try to downgrade the relatibility of Erens beginning doesn't make sense because the show literally shifted genres.Eren was angry at the titans and the entire team of season 1 was the scouts hating the Titans and humanity rising above these creatures in a dark fantasy context, remember unlike other apocalyptic shows aot makes it clear s1 we hate the Titans even if they are mindless creatures we hate them. That's the kind of narrative the show started with in the beginning and presented season 1 it wasn't just battling randomly, and in hindsight that was used as a form of irony which backfired post basement reveal on everybody, secondly Erens s1 character is supposed to be an anticipation of a shonen trope "which is a coming of age." He is also supposed to be seen as the Hope for humanity and anticipated for his growth to be linearly positive however in plot twist it seems that is not the case considering we have been with him for 3 seasons that's extremely tragic

Gu

They couldn't get zeke out without attacking there ,Marley is probably monitoring , secondly they were planning to attack parodies so Eren made Armin blow up the fleet , also Eren wanted to weaken Marley also taking the wh. Whatever better plan to get Zeke out of Marley with how much Marley is survailling the warriors would have been impossible.

Gu

Headcannon but I think of the paths as a metaphysical phenomenon atm , more of it will get discussed later on, it was like earlier back in season 3 part 1 historia touches other Titan shifters which can either trigger a seeming neural electrical reaction of the paths so the paths leaks some memories either to historia herself or to the Titan shifter, Eren acquired most of his dad's memories when he found a basement it was just him finding something out more once again when he touched the story again in the last episode. Like in real life memories can come and go in spectrums.

Manifique Tae

what reiner did to erens hometown and destroying it and titan eating her mom and now gabi is eren and who doesnt know anything this show is out there. who to blame

Manifique Tae

yea gabi's a child they dont get it, people still hate her until..

Wangus

I feel like they forgot the part where Marley and nearly every other nation had just declared war on Paradis and were about to launch an offensive to totally annihilate them. At this point in the story, I definitely think you are supposed to feel conflicted about the civilian casualties, but Eren and Zeke's attack here essentially crippled Marley's military abilities for at least a short time, and they were the most immediate threat as they are the closest nation. Were there other options at this point? Maybe or maybe not. But from Eren's perspective, the world was going to go full genocide on Paradis, and he decided to hit them first to buy Paradis more time, and to buy more time for him and Zeke to do what they plan to do.

Frank Decker

Lot's of black and white statements.

Mysthe

So now I can say it without getting you spoiled: you look as bad without a beard that Yelena looked with one :D And yes, Gabi killing Sasha is why most people hate her, which means a huge misundersanting of her character. :( Oh and there were many hints that Eren met with Zeke, the baseball glove, the ball... He even says it was given to him from his family. I wasn't shocked to see him. Jean hates this Eldian empire approach. And no it's not to late for him to say that killing kids is bad. He didn't even manage to kill Pieck because she was protected by a child, Falco, and he couldn't really kill him in such a direct way. Hange started to talk a bit about it, but many people were against Eren plan, he just didn't really give them the choice.

Gu

There alot of thought provoking dialogue these eps and between what Gabi says in that how it's easy to just fill in your own beliefs by choosing not to think to possibility of the other side having some weight ,It becomes more tragic as she asks " did you see it happen " know Falco clearly did.not much as in real life .

Matsumoto Erkin

giving you heads up since this was cut in first episode of the anime but was in the manga. since the very beginning of Manga, Mikasa had a logo like tattoo on her wrist given by her mother as part of her eastern clan that she hide with a wrap but it was cut in Anime

Moons

To be fair, Jean was the one who told Floch to keep civilian casualties to a minimum in ep 6 so he didn’t draw the line at tossing kids out of an airship. Eren dragged them into this but they were not on board with this awful plan. Thanks for the reaction and great discussion ! Can’t wait for the rest of the season, my favorite episode is near

Minerva Ravenclaw

Since the first moment and Jean was saying to keep civilians casualties to the minimum... You probably missed it in episode 6 it's literally the first thing he says.

Minerva Ravenclaw

Clarus'remark on why they didn't throw the kids out of the plane since they're doing the Rumbling parallels a very important scene later on😁 very interesting.

Minerva Ravenclaw

Again guys it's totally okay to speculate but trust that the show will show you what happened during these past years and things will be much much clearer. The future is also important trust me it's not just as bland as you're saying...

Armani

@Nerdy and Clarus. Eren & gangs stopped because they have a plane to catch , literally. Like Armin said when talking to Hangie about the plan last episode . So they were running outtta time basically

Moons
>>109265051

I agree with you about the "why" but Eren’s ways were wrong. He could have crippled Marley’s military abilities without killing so many civilians. Transforming and blowing up the building full of innocent people (Eldians living in the Liberio internment zone at that) was totally unnecessary. Same with Floch & co. causing unnecessary civilian casualties in the name of revenge to the point Jean had to yell at him to keep civilian casualties to a minimum.

JT

I love your reactions, but I think you're quick to call the show stupid without considering possible reasons for things. When I first watched this, I thought the reason Eren didn't keep fighting Reiner is because he likes Reiner and doesn't want to kill him

L8er Bìtch
>>109278310

Uhh, yeah he didn't wanna kill him, but no because he likes him, we know why he doesn't kill him

L8er Bìtch

This was an awesome reaction, and there are people who actually hate Gabi for killing Sasha, but the vast majority don't hate Gabi, it's a meme, like the "Eren did nothing" meme, even though there are people who actually believe both of those memes (and if you actually hate Gabi and actually are Jaegerist, .......get help), as for all the questions you're asking for, I'm happy you are, but some things will only get answered towards the end episodes, and I think you'll enjoy them

JT
>>109278310

I honestly have no idea what you're talking about

Irate Spec
>>109265051

Those same Eldians were being used as weapons against them. Either by being a special titan or being turned into a titan as "punishment". You can't cripple a military without attacking the country's infrastructure. Ports, factories, etc.. Those places will have civilians. The support the Japanese military was receiving from Hiroshima contributed to it being chosen.

Moons
>>109265051

Yeah and Hiroshima bombing was a war crime and a crime against humanity. As awful as war is in the first place, I think there should still be ethics and proportionality in warfare and strategic decision-making. As for your first point, they know that Eldians used as weapons against them are just victims of an authoritarian and apartheid regime. So "revenge" as a justification for killing them is stupid and wrong and thankfully our main squad (Jean, Connie, Sasha, Mikasa, Armin etc.) at least acknowledge that. In conclusion : fuck Eren and Floch, they’re awful.

Wangus
>>109265051

Yes. And the question is, at this point anyway, did Paradis's attack cross that line in the same way that the bombing of Hiroshima did. The casualties of this attack weren't anywhere near Hiroshima, and it seemed like, except for a few rogue elements like Eren and Floch, most of the Survey Corp's attacks were focused on taking out strategic, military targets while they recovered Eren. Of course there were civilian casualties, but is there an acceptable number of civilian casualties considering that, if Marley had it's way, it would have killed every person on Paradis, civilian or not? And it had the means to accomplish this as well. To me, at least, it seems like Paradise was as precise as they could be with the means that they had available, and limited casualties as much as they could given what they were up against. Eren aside.

Armani

@Nerdy yes Pieck is gay . And Hangie is non binary .Representation ! Loll Also Remember the royal family cannot utilize the founder powers . They are literally under a binding vow/spell that’s why grisha stole it from them . To use the founding power in a round about way , like at the end of season 2 with that royal titan that ate Eren mom That’s why they nvr got rid of the titans attacking the walll and that’s why they never sent titans to attack Marley as well

L8er Bìtch
>>109278310

Typos central, my bad, what I was tryna say is, he didn't want to kill him not cos he likes him, but he needed him, for later on(I won't talk explicit spoilers), in order to help the squad with the "march"

Filip

Everyone has a different agenda, there is more than just two sides. And there is more to everything than just the rumbling. And I'm personally one of those people who believe that rumbling isn't the only option, even after what they did in this episode. If it was true humanity wouldn't exist irl and war is never ending.

Armani

Even if Zeke , willy tybur or his sister (warhammer titan ) ate Eren . They still can’t use the founders power because of the binding vow on Royal blood members

Armani

I like how nerdy be answering all her questions at the end 😂 That was already answered in the episodes . Clarus has been really bugging at the show for the past 3/4 episodes now. She just be throwing questions n comments trying her best to discredit the story

JT
>>109278310

I feel like this is very spoilery and you probably shouldn't have said it, I was just talking about what I thought when I first watched it

MBH 77
>>109296169

She hasn’t been invested in the show since the basement reveal. It seems like she’s doesn’t take the show seriously anymore. Nerdy is actually enjoying it though. His comments are just harsh.

Anna Kyruin

It will probably be said a million times in the youtube comments, but there are a lot of different versions of the subtitles for what Eren says when he decides not to fight Reiner. The version I think is closest to accurate is "It's not like I can kill Reiner now...". I still see this as Eren feeling like he has too much empathy for what Reiner has been put through to kill him, now that he feels like he was put in a similar position. Also important to point out that the evacuation transport was heading out, and they didn't want to wait for Marley to be able to sortie something that could take it down before they got away. I see this as Eren making a tactical decision to retreat but it being -heavily- influenced by his inability to bring himself to kill Reiner, which he probably felt he would have to do in order to get the jaw back.

JonasK19

you are confused because you missed like 3 times when conversations came up (during the fights), that Eren was on his own and doing this without permission.

Anna Kyruin
>>109305258

Well I think they definitely get that now, they're just struggling with the idea that Paradis went along with his plan up to this point and whether they should have acted differently

KratosRager

That’s super spoilery dude

Fernando Gomez

“Plot convenience” isn’t going to age well. Yes Eren could have eaten the Jaw. Doesn’t mean it’s plot convenient. Y’all say stuff out loud and just roll with it too much.

Ideophagous

The "plot convenience" has an explanation. Just wait and watch.

Ideophagous

Great reaction and discussion. We don't agree on many things, but that's what makes your reaction unique and interesting. Keep it up!

James
>>109295248

There is no evidence of Pieck's sexuality. Nowhere is it implied that she's gay or straight.

Armani
>>109278310

This man L8er Bitch always be dropping spoiler comments mn

Armani

@Nerdy Eren delayed marleys attack and Armin cripples their navy fleet delaying it even further If Eren didn’t do what he did . Marley would have immediately head for paradise at full force

Minerva Ravenclaw
>>109296169

I don't know why I feel that Clarus has taken fans comments too personally and now she's not slightly invested in the show just out of spite...

The Quadfather
>>109305258

Eren was always going to do what he did. So Paradis’ choices were: 1. Stay out of it. Let Eren get eaten and wait for death as Marley attacks them with access to the Founding Titan along with the full power of the global alliance. 2. Help Eren so he escapes with the Founding Titan and attempt to cripple Marley’s military and navy in one fell swoop.

The Quadfather
>>109305258

They already explored diplomacy as shown in the flashback later but the world is too racist for that. Marley is barreling towards war since they are losing global standing with advances in anti-titan technology. Nothing Paradise could ever say or do would stop this war since Marley has such a vested interest to maintain their power. So seeing as war is inevitable Eren chose to strike first and not have the war be on Marley’s(or the world’s) terms. That being said I’m not a “Jaegarist” and still think Eren is wrong and fucked up. But it still makes sense from his perspective and isn’t a dumb plan. Just one devoid of any morals and humanity.

Moons
>>109266421

I won’t answer that but remember Mikasa’s flashback in 1x6 ? Her mom told her that the embroidery they’ve been making has been passed down their family for generations. In the manga instead of an embroidery it was a tattoo on Mikasa’s wrist. Apparently they cut that from the anime because they couldn’t legally show a kid getting a tattoo on national TV. Also in the manga she’s always drawn with a bandage on her wrist but the animators either forgot to include it in the anime or they didn’t think it would be relevant and come back later on.

L8er Bìtch
>>109278310

I mean i guess my definition of spoiler and most of the AoT cumunities definition are different, but I'll stop, I didn't specify anything, and everything I said is extremely out of context, only someone who watched, or is close to those episodes will get what I mean, but I apologize

dekutreesprout

you may feel as if there's no need for many more episodes but the rollercoaster hasn't even reached its peak. I think you'll enjoy the ride

Epicastro

Guys.. this is a cool translation fact: Meat in Japanese is Niku (Nic).... Now you do the math later ...

Epicastro

As much as I hate the "meta" analysis of any show.. the death of Sasha is the death of the comic relief.. this change the tone and the stakes for everyone in the show.. As "meta" as Yamir having the selfless off screen death

Gu

My interpretation is that Eren was never supposed to eat the jaw it was just reframed to make it more epic , similar to Giselle running reading book to make a cool scene her confronting the titan in isles notebook the titan was going to find her anyways so now why not reframe it so that it happens with a cool scene. Same conclusion but with more epic execution.

Armani

When is the next episode drop ?

Armani

We haven’t gotten anything since Wednesday 🫠. We need a schedule so I can know what days and stop hoping and guessin lol

xlokoslayer
>>109507737

fr, it ranges from 1-3 days every new reaction , boutta be 5 for this next one tho

Armani

I’m bout to sue Nerdy for losing my patience 🤧 Lol

Gu

I do think there's a difference between how you guys care about context and how the original watchers of shonen anime are designed for care about context, rather we care about emotions, fights and impact first rather than technicality. As Daniel greene said about anime fmab "anime is a very over the top kind of medium" i think it's also catered for people that felt other mediums of shows were not over the top enough.

Nightcrawler

This episode broke my heart. Everyone is a piece of shit, yes. It's the "humans were the real enemy all along," cliche, done over the top, but dammit do I love these characters. Gabi and Sasha most of all. Eren...is the biggest piece of shit, but in a Duke Leto Atredies II, kind of way.
