I wasn't initially planning on checking out this film but Weapons was a highly one and I actually love a good horror/ thriller.

I'm not sure what to expect because we went into this with no prior knowledge of this movie. Let's get it!!!

In defense of every parent in the film. If your alarm goes off in the middle of the night, you're gonna be freak out at first. Then immediately check on your spouse and kids. By then the kids would've been already running down the street.

I hear them but it isn't that realistic. Some folks do sleep heavy, I'm guilty of it. If my sister runs out the house right now at full speed through the neighbors' backyards, there's very little chance that I can catch her because I don't know which direction she ran in, where she's going, and its dark.

Good movie but two things really ruined it for me. 1. Ring cameras record the kids leaving their houses, a huge part of the movie plot. Yet, NOT A SINGLE CAMERA in ANY OTHER HOUSE records any of the kids running to Alex house? None of the neighbours? None of the houses they ran by???? Huge plot hole imo 2. Alex ain’t smart. I’m sorry but when I was 7, 8, 9 whatever age he is, if I came home and my parents are sitting at the kitchen table not moving for 48 hours in a row, stabbing themselves with a fork, I don’t give a damn what witch is there, I don’t care if Hermoine Granger is in my house, I am going to call 911!!!!!! Are you kidding me Alex? You talking about teach your kids, someone should’ve taught Alex what constitutes a freaking emergency! If my kid ain’t calling 911 the first chance he can, I’m returning the kid. Nah brah Alex is trashhhhh for that

I think the writers chose to use fruity pebbles for literally that reason. Not everything is that serious bro. It was a very harmless joke by the writers and a harmless observation by the viewer.

Alex comes home to find his parents sitting there looking SUPER WEIRD and unlike themselves at all. Gladys is being weird, this “aunt” that looks like a fucking witch. She tells Alex to go to bed. Again weird. His parents would never not feed him like that. Red flags flying everywhere. Alex goes upstairs, finds a phone and calls 911, because that’s what any normal kid would do in that situation, or was it just my mom that taught me “when something is really odd or you feel like you’re in danger call 911” 911: what’s your emergency? Alex: my parents didn’t pick me up from school and when I got home they’re just sitting at the kitchen table not moving or talking. They’re just sitting there looking like zombies. They never forget me at school and they’ve never acted this way or even close. Also this happened right after we picked up this weird old lady. 911: okay how old are you? Alex: I’m a child, my parents are in danger, I am in danger. 911: okay a kid is in danger, we’re sending a unit to your house. OR 911: okay a kid is saying his parents are neglectful and didn’t pick him up from school, we’re sending a unit Alex does this without Gladys knowledge because she sent him to bed. Police show up, knock on the door. Weird old lady that dispatch told them is a possible suspect answers the door. Police instantly on alert when they see possible suspect. She can’t grab a pair of scissors and cut their hair, take the hair to her little bowl and cut her hand,and do her witchy bullshit, even if she did someone manage to get hair from the cops, they’re tackling her instantly. They see the weird parents sitting at the kitchen table not doing reacting or moving. Gladys is in prison, kids are never kidnapped, the parents might even be able to talk again, Alex doesn’t grow up without parents. I’m sorry but there’s no singular reason that Alex does not call 911 the first day he finds his parents at the table. It’s so stupid that he wouldn’t. Even if you are a child and crippled with fear, you would still be like “I have no idea who this Gladys is, my parents look like they’re poisoned and I know that they would want me to call 911 in this situation.” Annoyed me so much in the movie theatre lol

ALSO, in what world does a cop not return to the police station after his shift ends and no one at the station notices? It shows him opening his locker and grabbing his stuff in the morning, he tells his boss he’s gonna start his shift, there has got to be some type of start of shift end of shift process to ensure SAFETY OF THE POLICE OFFICERS so they don’t just GO MISSING unnoticed. That should’ve alerted a huge emergency, and I’m assuming most police cars would have some sort of gps or something? Either way, someone would’ve noticed that he was missing.

What was a hole in the plot to me too... That's Justine's classroom, the little cubbies had to be where either they put their backpacks or where she puts their work/art to go home. How did she not notice 17 colorful name tags were missing in her own classroom? All of them BUT Alex's.

If someone’s about to kill you, are you going to “bide your time” and see how it goes? That makes no sense. If he calls 911 in secret, what is Gladys going to do when police arrive? Stab the parents in the neck just for fun? She’s going to be the suspect either way, it’s a lose lose for her to do anything to the parents if the police are coming. To be fair to Justine, she seems like she was a really good teacher. She was checking in with Alex when she noticed he got quiet, and she ran to check on him the moment the attack stopped. Most people would have run outta that house and forgotten all about the boy in that moment. I think she started drinking again because of the stress of the situation, and I can't promise I wouldn't have made the same dumbass mistakes if it was me. Also, let this be a lesson. You haven't seen someone for 15 years, you get that positive ID before you let them in your house! That's not your Auntie!
