Not a fan of some of the choices the writers made when it came to the kids. #1 popping pills is not a good message to send and watching them get high. #2 same thing goes for the alcohol. I don't think it makes the story better, even if it's supposed to be innocent.

I would rather entertain the idea of my daughter being with a boy of 12 than at 16/17 when they're ingrained in their lustful ways. At 12 I can still shape him into being a man worthy of my daughter. The older he gets the less that's likely and now I have to vet him as a stranger. But I think you're forgetting that people back then would get married young. It was very common for kids who met at 12/13 to becoming high school sweet hearts and would be married right out of high school. So that dad is viewing it from that mindset, the mindset that, yeah this might be my son in law in a handful of years.

To me fair, this isn't a kid's show, so there was no message being sent to anyone. Also the show was set in the 60's... the drinking age didn't go up to 21 in America until 1984. So them drinking back then was the equivalent of 18 year olds drinking now. As for the pills. Again, it was set in an era when those pills were see as aspirin but while aspirin helped with pain they helped with anxiety and stress. It wasn't about making the story better it was about keeping to the setting.

The thing is they tried to make like Derry was not a very racist town, and it’s not just racist it’s mystical, therefore it’s a mystically racist town. The boy got slapped in the face because it was those kids fault that the man’s friend died. The man jumped in front of a bullet because no one knew those kids was in a sewers, and he was ready to shoot his own kid so so his friend jumped in front of the bullet, the father‘s friend, basically saved his son‘s life, so that little boy was in the wrong.!!!! The woman’s father was eaten by the monster when he went in to the woods.
