LETS GOOOO

Sammy Pichardo

This series reinvigorated my love for the GoT universe more than HOTD ever did

Dylan

Dunk dragging Aerion's body and making him say that stuff is insane!

Coach Chris

I wonder is the sep of Baelor the statue in Game of Thrones where Aria was at when Ned was killed named after Baelor Targaryen

Mhalefit

His brother hit him they said it

Tate Lindsay

Adison Osafa Brandon trio is peak EDN. Seeing Yall post makes me so hyped

Tate Lindsay

Yea I never understood HOTD ngl was hard for me to get into

Rindamarie

Dunks fighting in this episode reminded me of when I took Taekwondo in my 20s. I was a green belt sparring with 13 year old yellow belt boy. It was about practicing form. It was a good spar, but one of my kicks landed dead in his chest. That boy dropped form and just started scrapping like he was in the streets! He was tearing my butt up! The sensei had to pull him off me. I realized form is great, but brute strength can overpower it. Dunk is a crappy fighting knight & jouster; however, he's a strong fighter/survivor. He will only get better from here. His armor was ugly, yet it protected him. Baelor was a real one!

Knazy

So happy you guys picked this up early and didn't get spoiled, finale next!

Rindamarie

I looked it up after episode 2, when we first see Prince Baelor. There was a king, Baelor, the sept is named after.

BRAN BALL

Hit em with that drunk Duncan 😂😂😂

Beron Banton II

Some more info for yall, The grave you saw at Sir Arlan's Campsite was for his nephew/prior squire who died in the battle of the Red Grass field. Sir Arlan was in heavy grieving, and took dunk on shortly after.

Athasin

One of the best episodes of television ever and definitely the best 30 minute episode of television ever.

Athasin

If I'm remembering my Westeros history correctly it's not. The sept of Baelor is named after Baelor the Blessed or Baelor the Beloved who was the 9th Targaryen King. If I'm remembering correctly he was really religious and so he had the sept made as his contribution to history.

Zaki Payne

His brother is Maekar. Aerion is his nephew. You can see Maekar hitting him in the head just before Aerion announces the withdrawal of his accusation. Again, so you guys know who is who. Baelor(just died) is the hand of the king and heir. His son is Valarr. Maekar is Baelor's younger brother and his sons are Daeron(drunk kid), Aerion(accuser), Aemon(Maester Aemon from GoT, and Aegon(Egg)

Thurnis Haley

There's no cannon for this but I think Dunk liked Tanselle (puppet woman) because she resembled Rafe (his childhood love). Dunk couldn't save Rafe so he damn sure wasn't going to let Tanselle die - to the point that he beat a prince for her without a second thought to the consequences.

Athasin

Remember last episode when Adison was like, "What if someone works so hard on your shield and first match it's just wrecked"... look at Dunk's shield after that collision. Lol, man called it.

Thurnis Haley

Also, I pray to the old gods and the new that we get surprised with an upload of the finale, today.

Ya’ll are doing the most pushing these out as quickly as you are I LOVE IT 🫶. That being said, ya’ll had a lot of commentary for this one and I think there is some stuff that may have been missed either in the chaos or potential BIAS BLINDNESS, so here we go in case you or anyone else in interested. 1. Aerion is a monster for sure and we are not cheering for him but trying to dog on his LEGITIMATE skills is crazy work. He’s craven & a punkass making it a trial by 7 BUT you have to remember he is a prince of the realm and was taught by the best & was clearly a fine student, it was just that while he’s clearly skilled Duncan is DECENT and what he lacks in training he more than makes up for in sheer size and strength. 2. Oh Addison 😔 Baelor was not going to last another 6 hours… The comment about his visor…, his helm doesn’t have a visor, that’s the bit meant to cover and protect your eyes, it implies his vision was already failing him, and his speech wasn’t exactly slurred but sluggish, he’s not finishing sentences, or keeping them short. The back of his helm was literally caved into the back of his skull, his brain was—- that man did not have another 6 hours. And if you look closely during the fight, you can actually see when it happens, Maekar does a wild swing and manages to crack the back of his brothers helm while he’s fighting both him and Lyonel Baratheon in his efforts to reach and aid Aerion. 3. Targs aren’t just the worst out here always aiming for horses if you look you can assume everyone fighting on the ground has lost their mount Baelor even comments on it at the start to keep your mounts for as long as you can. In a fight like this it’s expected that not everyone’s horse is going to survive as it’s in the fighters’ best interest to unmount anyone they can for the advantage. If you’re already on the ground yourself you ain’t going against an opponent still on a horse unless you’re taking that horse out. Baelor is even the one who unseats Maekar, he just didn’t need to kill his horse to do it and instead caught him in the chest with a lance and knocked him off. 4. Dunc doesn’t have actual plot armor, what he had was Steely Pate (the goat) armor. Yeah the number of injuries Duncan gets, especially the stabs SHOULD have killed him, and would have were it not for the mail Steely had made him. Mail is made up of a ton of metal rings all hooked and clipped together to create a mesh. It didn’t stop the tips of swords and daggers from piercing Duncan but it did stop those blades from piercing him as deeply as they would have and absolutely killing him were it not for his armor and it wasn’t for lack of anyone trying. Raymun even comments in the aftermath that the rings were pushed INTO DUNCAN’S SKIN due to how well they held against the blades. Duncan’s armor wasn’t flashy but it was well made and served its purpose just as Steely Pate promised. 5. RIP Beesbury & Hardyng. 🪦💔 You were real ones. 6. And since both of those two were killed in the first charge that means whoever the rider was that gave Duncan’s op the smack down when he was on the ground and pinned was either Baelor, Rysling, Lyonel, or Raymun—- and it’s canon Raymun was one of the few who kept his mount the whole fight & proved himself a complete menace, and has also proved to be a real one from the first day for Duncan so I choose to believe it was him. 7. And lastly my girl Rowan was absolutely cheering for Duncan, a man of honor who didn’t spend a single coin on her services! The dude she’d actually been—- ‘servicing’ for the duration of the tourney even turned around and gave her an ugly look for it for cheering on Duncan 🤣 This was a fun one you guys and definitely ranks among my own favorite fight scenes among the whole of the tv adaptions of the GoT universe so far! Can’t wait for the next one 🤘😌 stay good till then everyone!

Cas

This ⬆️ Baelor has died, the next in line techniquely is his eldest son Valarr who we’ve seen but hadn’t had any lines yet, and after him would be Baelor’s next son Matarys who we have not seen in the series so far.

Zeke English

I think Dunk was able to take so many hits because of his armor. He was wearing chainmail all over his body, so the stabs weren’t getting all the way through. It’s like the chain mail was being pushed into him which would hurt but would protect your organs. Also slashes really don’t work at all on chain mail, so it’s mostly the concussive hits and stabs that are dangerous. As a side note, the difference in armor between dunk and the other knights is crazy! Chain mail vs steel plate is like a musket vs a revolver. Plate is basically immune to slashes and much more protective from stabs compared to chain mail. (Source: YouTuber sword expert going over this fight scene)

Thurnis Haley

It's all the more tragic because the death blow happens after Aerion yields but before Aerion says to Ashford that he withdraws his accusations.

Cas

Yeeeesssss SHOUT OUT STEELY PATE THE ABSOLUTE AMOR FORGING GOOOOOOOAT

Athasin

Also you see exactly when Maekor smashed Baelor in the back of the helmet with his mace at 32:01 and it's AFTER Aerion yields but before they blow the horn. Just massively unlucky.

Hanna

His lil gf that died- actress is great in the HBO Dune Prophecy show!

Athasin

Dunk had that revive in his hotbar and it just took a few seconds for it to apply.

Brew city Bob

Hating on Aerion lowkey, he was putting that work in on Dunk early on. Also this fight has to be top 3 in thrones. Until season 3 of HOD.

Sammy Pichardo

Season 1 was fire but they dropped the ball on season 2

daeornight

About Beesbury's yellow mustache, hair dying is very common in the A Song of Ice and Fire universe, the entire universe is flamboyant and bright compared to the toned down version they gave us in the shows.

Cloud

He lived because of his armor. Most of those hits were flesh wounds. The lance to the gut is serious. But most of those stabs were pretty shallow.

xeve

tbh, it was a bit too wwf hulk hogan for my taste, alo the sword toss to the innr thigh could've hit the artery and would've bled him out quickly.

Queen S

Baylor think that's how they say his name brother hidden in the back of the head just as they were blowing the horn rest in peace Prince Baylor 🥺

Cloud

Yeah the sword throw is probably the most unrealistic part about the scene. The fact that it hit at all is kinda hard to believe. Never mind how dumb it is to throw your main weapon at your enemy. Overall I like the scene though. This is the most we ever see armor work in a fantasy show.

Despicable_Dee

I didn’t go through all the comments but if no one said it already i do believe that (this isn’t a spoiler) the statue that Arya was standing on when they took ned from us was build in honor of this Baelor . Somebody correct me if I’m wrong 😅

Rei Jin

Lumbarius is 100% related to B3.

Giggles

Maekar is one of the greatest warriors of House Targaryen during this era, everyone being surprised that his son could hold his own against Dunk is funnyyyy

jasmin

the writers heard osafa predicting that two piece and said lettuce multiply that by ten

jasmin

lmbo bite his neck rick!

Tina Andrews

Straight steel plate is superior for sure but a lot of times the fancy work came at the expense of real protection. Steely Pate even has a line about it early in the show. Watching some folks that make armor I also heard that they often mixed various stuff into the steel to change its color because the knights vain enough to want the fancy stuff didn't just want paint that would scratch and scuff. The additives also weakened the steel

jasmin

lol if them tourneys had commentators it woulda been yall

Pancake

I completely understand that one guy and Dunk throwing up right before it started. I know it's not super comparable, but I remember that horrible nerve feeling right before my first public boxing match a few years ago. Some people throw up, but it doesn't get rid of it cause all that adrenaline has nowhere to go until you start swinging

Cas

Yeah, someone said the same thing earlier, wrong Baelor. The one that has a statue of him was a previous targ king Baelor the blessed

AJtheBAE

That’s not this Baelor. The statue is of Baelor the Blessed, he was the King that became a religious fanatic, built a shrine to himself, and then starved himself to death from extreme fasting.

QueequegTheater

Nah he was clearly mailed over the thigh. Chain mail doesn't *stop* a sword stab but it can severely mitigate the damage. It's totally possible that it missed the big artery in the thigh based on the angle it stuck at.

Austin Hogan

Never Underestimate the protection of steel plate armor Duncan was hit so many times with a flail in the head and his noggin is still safe a person in more advanced heavy plate with a lot more money back, then would be able to be a tank on the battlefield. It’s not just the plate armor. You have the gambasson, which is a jacket that the armor goes on padding for the legs and then there’s the chain mailto go all over before putting on the plate armor mobility was highly sought after so those armors would cost a lot of money essentially the equivalent to a high-grade suit of armor from the middle ages to the Renaissance period would be a private jet or a high end helicopter today and they were personally tailored to each person years would go into making some of them. Some of them would even be acid etched with incredible designs enlaid with gold. King Henry, VIII armor as well as Maximillian’s armor set are phenomenal castles and armor was pretty much the way people could flex back then now it’s a Lamborghini to private jet or an island for the most evil and filthy rich

Keke

1:48 Garfield 🐈

Despicable_Dee

Gotcha that does sound familiar. I need to brush up on my Targaryen history!

Alexandria Brown

It’s the moments of silence after y’all finished the show😭😂😭😂😂

VirgosGrooveXO

That’s why the flashbacks were important to who dunk is. He doesn’t give in when life knocks him down. The man can take a blow (as we’ve seen ser Arlan knock him upside the head many times lol). But you gotta admit Aerion was putting straight belt to cheeks! Never gave scared of a 1v1 😂

chao_2x (ABZ💙)

Rafe such a stupid lil girl, I ain’t feel bad at all…stealing was coo but not from someone who didn’t care bout killing people especially kids

chao_2x (ABZ💙)

no reactor so far got the “A Great Dragon will fall on you. You are alive.” quote n reconnected it 😭

chao_2x (ABZ💙)

Baelor would’ve been the best King in history so Geroge off’d em 🕺

ash kaash

Maekar is not next in line. Baelors son Valarr is. Then any other sons he has. Then Maekars other 2 brothers and their sons if they have any. For egg to be king they all have to die, including eggs older brothers. That's why egg is Aegon "the unlikely" there's like 10 people in line before him.

Nubia Muse

Well why didn’t he do the first 1v1….

VirgosGrooveXO

Because he figured a trial by seven would be harder for Dunk to find 7 people. Which it was but then the hand joined his side. He picked the option that was more likely to give him more of an advantage of getting dunk killed/punished. He still fought dunk 1 on 1 in the trial of seven

Keke

Who had the crazier reveal? Gus or Baelor

A. P.

FS RIP Thieviesha and Big Baelor 🕊️ Cuz kept his head in the game

Gypsysoul

An absolute masterpiece ✨ one for the books! Literally 📖

Jacob Livingston

Dunks armor is what saved him. Steeley pate even said he builds strong armor not pretty armor. Dunk was getting sliced up no doubt but his armor was making it not 100% penetrate him. On the other hand baelor didnt bring his own armor to the tournament. He never planned on participating in it, it was just supposed to be a tournament for ashfords daughter’s birthday. Baelor had to wear his son valarrs armor (his son is next in line for king now) and his sons armor didn’t fit him well and that is partially was caused him to die. If he had his own armor and his own fitted helm it would have potentially protected him better. RIP BAELOR 🫡🥲
