Women don't have to change their last names to show "respect". I want to keep mine because this is MY name. I was born with this name and I worked and will work hard throughout my life with this last name. My degrees will have my name on them. I love my name and I'm not changing it for a man. There can be equal respect between us without me giving up my name I've had for however many years it'll be when I get married.

Agreed 💯 I said if I ever do decide to “change” my last name it’ll be hyphenation only I love my last name! It’s unique and there’s only one “bloodline” if u will so anyone with my last name is automatically related to me which I think is fuckin cool

I find this comment very refreshing 😃 one of the very fascinating things about the Korean culture is that wives keep their fathers last name to keep their fathers family line alive. I think that’s something that should be done more in all cultures especially if you have a father that only has daughters. That way he won’t be pressured to keep his “name” alive by having a son.
