What did we just watch...

I kid you not this might be the most HORRIFIC movie I have ever seen. I felt bad for having my boy O on this one knowing he is not a huge fan of horror/ scary films to begin with. I was so shook I couldn't even hold the post show discussion I planned on having my bad y'all lol! Maybe I will do a livestream or something discussing the film at some point after I do the YouTube drop.

Every death here was foreshadowed in the beginning. Bear died like Sandy (overdosing on his grandma's pills), Sarah died because of the brick (like the jenga block piece they were playing where it said for Bear to kiss her), and Ian got shot (when Bear was going to confess his feelings at the bar, Ian interrupted and told them about Sarah's dad keeping a gun in the store). I LOVED THIS MOVIE and watching it with my boyfriend was so much fun🤣

I don’t blame him for not knowing what the wish would do!! He should have realized it when she was acting weird and everyone basically pointing out the obvious which he chose to ignore when it was too late!! And when Nicki was trying to reach out, all he said was “what’s so bad about being with me” when she’s literally fighting for her life! He thinking only about himself and what he wants… sorry his not misunderstood in my eyes !! Too weak to face the truth of what he created. Too weak once he couldn't hide from the truth to do anything to save his supposed love. Too weak to do anything while she self-harmed. he’s human that’s what you fail to realize he’s not above those human standards at all , he was very selfish at the end of the day but what he did wasn’t villainous and he tried to reverse the wish , and it didn’t work no one wants to take themselves out like what are you saying and then on top of that he was in shock a very human thing when she tried to take herself out like i said he did bad things and made mistakes but he’s not a bad guy , he was desperate for love and made that wish. When she asked him to take her out , he did a selfish thing because he couldn’t imagine not being able to be with her , do i think he was bad guy no, more like dumb and selfish but that’s human

I think Curry Barker said it best when discussing this film. He talks about how Bear's wish itself wasn't evil. But how the consequences that come with some of these wishes can impact the trajectory of your character. Bear became a villain the moment he found out the real Nikki was a prisoner in her own body. Curry Barker did an amazing job in discussing the complexity of these characters. It's funny watching simple minded fans comment out of turn trying to make his art their own by telling others how they should theorize and feel about his work. Regardless, the ending was to show the tragic ending for Bear. Not to garner empathy for his end. But rather to give people a moment to reflect on the tragedy of events that led him down this road. The actor himself talks about the deep regret told in this scene is written on his face. He could've been happy with Sarah. This didn't have to be his life. But he kept choosing to live in denial and be selfish. He had to die. But not in a situation that leaves the real Nikki facing life in prison. Such a disturbing and complex plot. I can't wait to see the TV series and future movies in this universe. His next movie will be in the same universe and there will be a news scene with an update on Nikki.

I believe this movie is meant to be an allegory for rape and the violence that women have had to go through for so long. It really makes you empathize with the trauma and toll that it takes on a person to be taken advantage of. This shit is so sad bro 😔

Misunderstood??? Once he was told that it wasn’t the real Nikki by the person on the phone and the real Nikki herself during her sleep scene, he knew he was wrong and still used her. He knows the real Nikki never liked him and she told him herself. He took her free will away and used her. Completely aware of what he was doing. Nothing controversial about his actions. He’s a horrible person. He even lied to Ian and Sarah by trying to make it seem like Nikki actually loved him.

A romance is centered around a couples progression and getting that happily ever after. An example would be pride and prejudice. The two main characters progressed into love throughout the story. Love story has other central themes with love woven into it and doesn’t guarantee a happy ending. An example would be titanic. Jack and rose were in love but Jack died at the end. Not a happy ending.

When Bear asks “what’s so bad about being with me?” To Nikki who had just asked to be put out of her misery I officially hated this man and than 2 seconds later he’s trying to get with Sara & not even drive far away from Nikki as if there’s not gonna be any consequences for that despite seeing how Nikki has acted since making the wish. he is the most selfish character & never even considers what he did to Nikki as his fault he blames her for everything & blames himself for nothing.

You can't accuse someone if being evil for making a silly wish. When people make those kind of wishes, it is not to strip someone of autonomy. Wishes are usually innocent in nature with the hopes of divine intervention or magic. No one thinks the complexity of a wish is going to change or trap the real person in some realm of torture. Why would we think that deep before making a wish when generally we know for a fact wishes and prayers is just words of hope. Obsession puts a spin on wishes like monkey's paw. A twisted horror movie in a universe where magic and supernatural elements isn't universally believed or known to exist by the average person.

A Love story is when the plot is focused on the growing of the relationship, usually with lots of exterior plot. A romance is focused on the relationship solely. The background plot is kind of irrelevant. A love story can stand on it's own without any romance. A romance story would be a few pages long without it. A love story can end happily, tragically, or several ways. A romance is usually only a happy ending.

People has been saying Nikki walks likes Bear's dead cat. Their saying the cats spirit went inside Nikki when Bear made the wish. And Nikki waits for Bear like a cat would for their owner to come home, so it kind of make sense a bit.

One thing most people don't catch about Bear's wish is that if she has to love him "more than anyone in the world" she basically has to love him more than she loves herself, that's why his wish is inherently a bad wish, not because of the one wish willow being cursed. That's why she don't clean herself or do anything that has to do with self care. The director himself confirmed that the willow just gives you EXACTLY what you wished for, so maybe things would be different if Bear had used other words or phrased differently. But because Bear is a self-centred person of course he would phrased it to him being above anyone else.

Man it would take too long to explain to you why he’s a bad guy but I’ll give you the example of calling to “edit” the wish instead of actually trying to cancel it, he literally clarifies in the conversation that “it’s okay to keep the wish” he wants to keep it as long as it’s convenient and he gets to use her without consequences. um no just simply missing the point of the movie … at the end of the day if it was up to HER she would’ve never been that obsessed over him like that and would’ve never acted the way that she was acting. It was because of him and that wish that he made selfishly that she acted like that, and it resulted in him having to take his own life in order to set HER free not him bc at the end of the day you need to be careful what you wish for and in order to get out of that wish he had to go he knew that wasn’t really Nikki and he chose to still put her thru hell even at the scene when she was begging for him to kill her he knew right there that Nikki was being “possessed” and he still wanted to keep that wish only thing he wanted to do was alter it and the only thing he was going was still make it that she was in love with him, but not be all weird and crazy like how she was but again that is still selfish, and it was gonna still have her trapped and having her do stuff that he knows she wouldn’t have done sexually and physically and everything of that sort if it was up to her fr

The preemptive fear at seeing the Blumhouse Logo gets me every time. This one made me so uncomfortable from the moment Sandy (RIP) appeared to the very end. Something about how Bear glosses over her death, puts the remains in the trash, and cries over Nikki instead made me think something was really off in his moral and emotional priorities (personally, if I left something so clearly dangerous out and lost my rescue, I don't know how I'd ever forgive myself). I never wanted to see this again despite knowing it was a very, very well-made film, but each reaction re-watch has let me get over that fear and really appreciate the foreshadowing, symbolism, and character acting. The sound design also goes crazy; the first time I noticed that there's a menacing humming sound reminiscent of a crocodile during the bed scene with "Nikki" giving her crocodile tears. I think part of what makes it so icky is just the realization that someone doesn't have to be comically evil to do extraordinary harm. It just takes sufficient loneliness, cowardice, willful denial, and a little power... as if that wasn't already a theme playing out in society right now. Keep it up.

To answer the question, yes love spells are real, but it doesn't work with a snap of a wish branch. This would be the result of domination spell mixed with intranquil and head/obsession spell. I've seen people hurt themselves and other people behind this stuff.
