Here is our uncut reaction to House of The Dragon Season 3 episode 8. I actually didn't realize this episode was going to be the season finale.

Overall this Season is probably my favorite so far.

Let me start off by saying that the new studio looks 🔥. Congrats on the upgrade, it's well deserved! Second, Rhae-Rhae done lost the plot. I don't blame her for losing it, but girl, don't burn bridges along the way 😒

First of all... Love the new studio! All i have to say is Roderick did what needed to be done. Aegon is hilarious. Rhanyera lost me completely now. RIP Helaena. Ulf did not get the Dany treatment by yall for doing the same thing and im kinda disappointed that he didnt.

Loving the new studio! They really have a way of making you want to be "Team clear the board". While I cant stand behind how she has been crashing out, she showed in this episodes why she goes to such ends to make sure she stays on the throne. For the Targareyans, its not just being the ruler. They were the only ones that knew the dragons had to still be in play when the prophecy came to fruition or the knight King would win. Thats why they feel justified in every evil thing they do, it's to save mankind. Rhae Rhae thinks if she and her descendents dont sit in the throne, its the end of the world. She is cracking under the pressure of it. And as we saw in GOT....

Regarding your confusion about Rhaenyra calling herself "Prince", iirc from the main show, the same Valyrian word for "prince" could be used for "princess". It was the same with brother and sister too I think.

Yeah that's right. The prophecy of the 'Prince that was Promised' is ambiguous because in its original language it could mean either a man or a woman. Though I would imagine in universe Targaryens are biased toward thinking it would be a man.

In books, Dany survives the fire/pyre as a one-time magical miracle. Probably because of the blood magic involved. But she's not always immune to fire/heat. In show, they made Dany always immune to all heat/fire.

Dany in the show was made fire proof permanently.. but that wasn't really supposed to happen. There is no example of a fully 'fire-proof' Targaryen anywhere in the books, and in the show Dany is the only person to have this magical ability. In the books Dany survived being engulfed in fire just once (though she goes bald from her hair burning away), but it was intended to be a single magical event that was part of her hatching her dragons. She doesn't remain fire proof afterwards.

"The prince that was promised" is not an error, in Game of Thrones when Daenerys is called "Azor Ahai" (promised 'prince') Missandei explains that in valyrian prince is gender neutral and can be translated to "The prince or princess that was promised".

When helaena threw herself out the window, dreamfyre roared so loud that the dragon pit shook and she managed to break two of her chains. Ofc the show forgets to show that scene and also she wasn’t pregnant when she offed herself.

I’m not team black or green atp but that whole putting kids at the wall as shield was the most cowardly thing I’ve ever seen so team green could never get 10s from me. And I gotta say in defense of Ser OG Greybeard-Stark, if that kid hadn’t struck him in the leg he would’ve walked right past him 🤷🏽‍♀️ Same with Daemon, he gave the kids a warning and the ones who stayed knew what was coming sorry 🫢

There never should have been any teams in the first place. That was probably part of the problem. HBO and the writers should have focused on presenting a good story and not trying to pander to or favor either side of the conflict.

Ulf is a peasant and a drunkard who's in over his head. We already knew what he was about. Dany is a Queen who presented herself as a liberator and a measured ruler. These people are not similar at all and do not deserve the same expectations held to them. The only thing about them that is alike is that they both ride dragons.

Ulf really proved that no matter how many chances you give him he will always be a useless, spiteful alcoholic :/ Ormund gave that man everything he wanted and he still couldn't show up to work on time.

As for the High Septon. Rhaenyra can't just kill him and get somebody else to anoint her. It would be the same as killing the pope and trying to find someone else. She is never going to find anybody else with the same power who can just do it for her. Realistically, she should have been swarmed and killed herself the second the people found out she had the High Septon put to death. None of the peasants in that city likes or cares about her dragon gods.

Those kids, neither of which look older than 8, were probably too scared and surprised to think. Some soldiers just threw them out of the city and now there's a dragon approaching and a man on top yelling at them. Ever seen a deer caught in headlights? Also that little kid on the wall who hit Lord Roderick Dustin was always gonna die in his situation. He knew it, got real scared, and did something that was dumber than nothing. Roddy could have just kept walking though, he didn't even pause and hesitate when he saw it was just a boy.

I'm team black because at the end of the day Rhaenyra IS the heir. She WAS robbed of her throne. And yeah she's struggling but because they also robbed her of the treasury and her only examples of how to rule have been with a prosperous kingdom. She doesn't know how to rule while poor. Baela calling her a user feels like rewriting history because who wanted to go to Rook's Rest herself and right Criston's army? Rhaenyra. And who told her she couldn't? Everyone, so Rhaenys went. Who wanted to help Corlys' navy in the gullet? Rhaenyra. Who told her she couldn't? Everyone, then they locked her in her room. Baela using her crack fiend sister as an example of Rhaenyra tossing away someone who isn't useful is just laughable. Her sister was a LIABILITY whose crazy choices killed the heir. Oh course she needed to be put in a corner.

This was a cold episode y'all I don't know what to say but that old guy from the north I like his crazy behind . Ormen just knighted Darren telling him to be protector of children and old women and women had all those little boys up there as a shield for them I'm glad he gone I'm hurt about Helena I loved her she was so sweet she just wanted to be with her daughter and her insects and her chickens that was messed up I've always been team black I have to go down with the ship my girl done lost their mind she going to turn into the mad Queen Alsent is going to lose it I think she already know though by the butterflies I don't know if she going to survive either after trying to kill Amond I was not a real fan of hers but she did do everything the Queen wanted her to do but that was a true game of thrones episode

Lashings? Ulf deserves death. Drunk off his ass or not he killed thousands of people including women and children. Dany was supposed to be a new Queen for her people and someone who might actually deserve to rule. She knew what it was to be victimized and enslaved. Her own brother Viserys sold her off like property to Khal Drogo so he could get an army. She knew what it was to rule, as she experienced ruling in Meereen over freed slaves. Yes, her situations in life were harder and she understood wielding power at a young age. These experiences should make her a way better, and more measured person than Ulf. We expect better behavior from better people. Obviously its way more disappointing seeing Dany burn down her own city and her own people that she was supposed to rule, and that her father and father's fathers ruled before her.
