Yeah they borrowed some scenes from isolated real-life events but they wanted to do a master irony for viewers. By saying it was real, it helped audiences to accept the eccentric characters and violent events first. Then they revealed it was just a story (based on some real-life elements) later on

While not actually a true story, elements of the story were inspired by actual crimes. Like the woodchipper at the end: inspired by a murder in CT back in the 80's where a husband killed his wife and then put her through a woodchipper to get rid of the body.

As far as dinner vs supper, i feel like both of you are right. In some places more well-off people do tend to say "supper" and less well-off tend to say "dinner", but livin in western North Dakota (Fargo is eastern, only been once) i remember most people, regardless of income used to call it supper and called lunch, dinner

Oooh, y’all should watch Boardwalk Empire. I know y’all not adding any new series to the lineup but y’all have to add that one to the list. It’s a show set in the prohibition era about the dealings of different crime bosses including Al Capone and Steve Buscemi is the lead. This might be a hot take - I describe it as an old school mobster version of The Wire. As a matter of fact, the late great Michael K Williams🕊️ is actually in both shows.

Yep definitely Midwest thing for sure. Same with pop I grew up in Minnesota learned when I went to the West Coast they call it soda. You ask for pop at the restaurant they act like you're asking for drugs or something I had to change my lingo🤣 Funny how certain things differ depending on region. Also Hotdish/goulash never hear in West coast lol

Also fun fact KFC has buffets in MN- Baxter which is next town over from Brainerd few min drive has. SOOo bomb too, growing up was 7 bucks lunch now think 12 or so. All chicken & sides Green beans, rice, okra, collard greens, potatoes, gravy, mac cheese, corn, biscuits, desserts, bread pudding cobbler, & salad bar. Miss it nothin like that west coast lol

Even now but especially back when this movie first came out (1996 through say 2001), whenever you ask someone if they've seen this movie EVERYONE would say "Oh yah, yaah". or "Oh yah, you betcha!"
