Cruelty Cascade: How Russia’s Double-Tap Strikes Escalate the Brutality of War (Patreon)

Dear Kyiv Independent community members,

We'd like to invite you to an upcoming discussion: "Cruelty Cascade: How Russia’s Double-Tap Strikes Escalate the Brutality of War."

In nearly three years of the full-scale invasion, Russian forces have systemically used one of the cruelest tactics known as “double-tap” attacks against Ukraine, targeting rescuers, medics, and other civilians as they arrive at the scenes of initial strikes. After first using the tactic in Syria, Russian troops applied it in the war in Ukraine.

Truth Hounds, a Ukrainian non-profit organization that documents and investigates war crimes, and the Kyiv Independent, Ukraine’s largest English-language media outlet, will hold an online event to discuss the patterns and impact of Russia’s double-tap attacks in Ukraine and Syria, as well as their legal assessment. The discussion will include experts from Truth Hounds, the Syrian volunteer organization the White Helmets, and Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office.

The discussion will take place on Thursday, October 31, at 7 p.m. Kyiv time. You can register and submit your questions here: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_6_9h-C78RnuMWdqB5RZSHg
