Recording: One year war update with defense reporter Illia Ponomarenko (Patreon)

Dear Kyiv Independent community members,

Thank you to everyone who attended our last community event and to those who sent in questions! Our defense reporter Illia gave an update on one year of Russia’s all-out war – he talked about the current situation in Bakhmut, potential Ukrainian counter offensives this spring, the importance of Western weapons and foreign aid to Ukraine, the morale of the Ukrainian military, and when to expect his forthcoming book.

Illia’s recommendations mentioned in the Q&A are:

Deep State Map (https://deepstatemap.live/en), which shows a current, interactive map of the war

Come Back Alive (https://savelife.in.ua/en/), a nonprofit that provides assistance to Ukrainian Armed Forces

Serhiy Prytula Foundation (https://prytulafoundation.org/), a charity founded by Serhiy Prytula that provides assistance to Ukrainian Armed Forces

We received so many interesting questions. If we weren’t able to get to yours, please keep an eye out for our next written Q&A about the war. We’re planning one soon!

Thank you again for your support.
