Our book: ‘War Diary of the Ukrainian Resistance’ (Patreon)

Dear Kyiv Independent community members,

We recently published a book about the first year of Russia’s full-scale war, as told by the Kyiv Independent newsroom who witnessed it firsthand. The book, “War Diary of the Ukrainian Resistance,” was published by Flint in English in February of this year, and is available for purchase.

Last week, our chief operating officer Zakhar Protsiuk was in London and confirmed that local bookstores were stocking the book. Pictured above is a photo of the Kyiv Independent’s book, on display at a London bookstore last month, taken by editor-in-chief Olga Rudenko.

“War Diary of the Ukrainian Resistance” is a combination of articles, published during the conflict, and personal accounts from journalists who remained in Ukraine after the start of the full-scale invasion. The book was originally published in French in June 2022. The English edition includes new material, covering the war up until January 2023.

The Guardian published a review “War Diary of the Ukrainian Resistance review – extremely loud and incredibly close,” saying of the book “there are horrors here, but there is also love, compassion, and a steady drumbeat of determination to stay alive and to keep other people alive.”

Those in the U.K. can also find the book online, including on Amazon or Foyles. If you have already obtained a copy or plan on reading the book soon, we’d love to hear what you thought.

Thank you for your support and for keeping your attention on Ukraine. We wouldn’t be here without you.
