Our Discord chat for the Kyiv Independent community (Patreon)

Dear Kyiv Independent community members,

We ran a survey a few months ago to see if you would like us to create a space, exclusive to the community, where you could communicate with each other. The majority of our responses indicated that this was something you were interested in. Our readers preferred something other than a Facebook group.

We are happy to let you know that we found a good solution. We are launching a community space on Discord. Its main goal is to build connections between our members as well as foster conversations, ideas and initiatives inside our community.

We decided to pick Discord to create this space, since our members expressed concerns about their data when using big social networks, like Facebook and Meta, and because Discord has a built-in integration with Patreon, making it easier for you to join and get connected. For those of you familiar with Slack, Discord works in a similar way. There are already channels set up for you to share your story ideas, events related to Ukraine, and memes.

To join our Discord, you will first need a Discord account, and then you will need to link it with your Patreon account. You can do this by logging in to your Patreon account, going to “Settings,” and finding “Connected apps” under “More.”

You should automatically gain access after you’ve linked your Patreon and Discord account.
