Dear Kyiv Independent community members,

Last week, we had a Q&A with the head of our War Crimes Investigations Unit Yevheniia Motorevska and one of the unit’s reporters Danylo Mokryk. Editor-in-chief Olga Rudenko moderated. Thank you to those who sent in questions – they are always central to our discussions.

Yevheniia and Danylo discussed their work investigating war crimes and the unit’s most recent documentary “Faces of Torture” on the Olenivka prisoner-of-war camp in occupied Donetsk Oblast and the acts of torture and inhumane living conditions Ukrainian prisoners were subjected to.

They also answered questions about potential avenues to hold Russian aggressors accountable, the systemic nature and cultural aspect of Russian war crimes, and the resources and services available to those who are victims of torture.

Thank you for your support, and if you have any ideas for future community event topics, you can let us know at community@kyivindependent.com.
