Dear Kyiv Independent community members,

We need your questions for the next episode of “This Week in Ukraine.” The topic this week is Ukraine’s problematic preparation for a long-term war. Despite it becoming clear that Ukraine will need to shift to long-term, strategic defense, the country has made few preparations for this reality.

To send in your questions, you can leave them in the comments below, message us on Patreon, or email our community manager Brooke at brooke@kyivindependent.com. We look forward to hearing from you.

Episode 37, “What do Polish truckers want?” is linked above. The episode is available on YouTube and on listening platforms, with your questions starting at 19:00.

So living in Australia, I have seen the attempts and successes at polarisation in thinking here - in a community not at threat (until ofcourse environmental change that brought on almost unstoppable bushfire in 2019 and then a pandemic). The online bot attacks during the fires about who were 'responsible' was incredible and noticeable, similarlywith our recent vote on giving our first nations people a Voice in the constitution (defeated) - I assume it was side by side with the rising extreme right thinking. I suspected Russia even in 2019 (with no basis whatsoever in my experience then !) then the pandemic, which was leveraged incredibly from my limited understanding - still now those believing in conspiracy thinking in so many areas is HUGE - surprising 😮 for a very safe resilient, multicultural and open minded community. My question - how is the propaganda impacting Ukraine now, nearly two heartbreaking years on? Is there a movement away from fighting this war at grass roots due to propaganda and cultural / historical connections with RU. if already answered - happy for a reference. * I went to bed as the invasion began - praying for your country's survival - I have never in my life felt so angry, fearful or heart-knowing that your survival and that of democracy world wide go hand in hand. I also prayed the arsholes would get stuck. My mind is with you, heart too.
