Ask us anything: Join us on Discord for a Q&A with our deputy chief editor (Patreon)

Dear Kyiv Independent community members,

Thank you for your continued support! We’re always looking for ways to make our community better, and your feedback has been a huge help. We really value your suggestions.

We’ve heard from our members that they’re interested in more insight into how our editors and reporters do their jobs – and we want to answer your questions. We’re scheduling an “Ask me anything” style Q&A, and we’re excited to hear from you.

You can join our deputy chief editor Toma Istomina on our community Discord server Tuesday, Feb. 27 from 7-8 p.m. Kyiv time. Toma will be answering your questions about our work at the Kyiv Independent and how editorial decisions are made.

One of your benefits as a Kyiv Independent member is access to our exclusive Discord server. We set up our community Discord almost a year ago, after hearing from members that they valued a safe discussion space, without trolls or bots interfering.

As of now, we have just over 1,000 people on our Discord server, including community members and the Kyiv Independent team. We have channels set up there for sharing resources on how to help Ukraine, suggesting story ideas to the editorial team, and even sharing memes.

If you haven’t joined yet, we’d love to have you there! Here’s how:

First, you’ll need a Discord account if you don’t already have one.

Next, you’ll need to use this invitation link: https://discord.gg/m7xnGz5k8Z

Finally, email our community manager Brooke at brooke@kyivindependent.com with your Discord username and the email attached to your membership, and we’ll grant you access to all the channels.

If you aren’t yet familiar with Discord or need any additional help joining our community server, just let us know. You can reach out to community manager Brooke at brooke@kyivindependent.com.

We’re looking forward to hearing from you!
