One of the best episodes of the series IMO

Such a great episode. One of the best of the series. Kim Manners direction is superb. So tragic. I feel so bad for Madison and Sam. And Dean because as you guys talked about this is potentially a mirror to his situation with Sam. Great reaction. And you are right about S2. It’s one of my favorite seasons.

Twist after twist on this one, you just don't know where it goes, but where it does end up being a perfect mirror to Sam's situation and indeed what Dean might have to do to his brother... for his brother. Heartbreaking. And Jared Padalecki's acting at the end was out of this world brilliant.

Not my favourite episode, just for warewolf angle, but it shows how Sam is more empathetic thinking not all monsters are monsters, but for Dean, I think it's more conscious decision to think otherwise. Dean has been hunting longer, so how would you keep doing it if you thought like Sam. And they really hammer it in that Dean maybe forced to face same decision. It is interesting that in this I think Sam was stronger than Dean, Sam did shoot Madison at the end. Sure Dean would have done it, but not if it would have been Sam. Also, notice how they really show boys guns in this, establishing now Dean's gun and Sam's. Sam does kill Madison with Dean's gun. Don't know if that has any meaning or why it was decided like that. And I am 100% with you, that even episode would not be "the best", it's the small moment between boys that makes it, even if it's just rock-paper-scissors.
