This episode is heartbreaking, poor Carol! Your reaction was probably the same as mine at the time. For me Shane is a shoot first ask questions later type person whereas Rick is more of a longer term planner, but seems like he can do the hard stuff. no one else made a move to deal with Sophia and it seemed to be something even Shane couldn't do. On a side note when this came out i took part in a Zombie run and our team name was Walker Bait after Glenn....but no we didn't survive lol

I don't know if you were not paying attention because you we're talking with one another or what, but they specifically said just ten minutes prior to her walking out of the barn, that Herschel did not know Sophia was in the barn. Otis was the one that handled it, and because Shane killed him no one was able to be told that she was there. That's why they've been looking for her and not knowing she's been in there. The murderous rapist, known as Shane, is the reason that no one knew that Daryl got hurt and nearly died.

Ya know when it comes down to having to make the hardest decisions, it just goes to show that Rick was man enough to do it. Shane be preaching to Rick about making the hardest one, but when Sophia came out of that barn, he didn't have what it took to put her down like Rick did.

Madeline Reed

I like to hope that no one knew Sophia was in there because they didn't know what she looked like. An argument could be made that they might be like "I think we have a girl who looks about 12 in there. That yours?" But I want to believe that the Herschel family didn't make the connection.

They're leaving the wife till last......oh no boys its much worse than that
