I think part of the dragon being blue is Azula’s blue flames

Cornelius Ukena

roku’s dragon is only shown as blue because it was a spirit. also, in eastern media, red is very often symbolic of “good” and blue often “bad” (this is a bit reductive, but an easy way to put it). this obviously isn’t universal just like the opposite is not always true in western media but it pops up often. you can see instances of it in shows like dbz (e.g. - goku’s kaio ken v vegita) or demon slayer (e.g. rengoku v akaza). atla leaned into this quite a bit. also, fun fact, green is often used to represent a third “balanced” or “other/alien” position in this dichotomy. i don’t THINK atla ever uses this, but you can see this adopted in arcane, with vi being red, jinx being blue, and echo who wishes to live free of the conflict being green.

hii thank you for your reaction are the next two episodes also dropping today?

Vanessa Campbell

I always assumed the dragon was blue for Azula’s blue fire and red for Iroh’s red fire

Tairence Williams

Good job to Ange remembering Suki was fighting Azula because as a kid I definitely forgot and I feel that was the intentions of the writers hoping you forget so it really feels like a twist.

João Enes

Besides the blue fire, the name Azula derives from 'azul', the Portuguese/Spanish word for blue.

The clown emoji’s when ya’ll were talking about Toph absolutely sent me. Genuinely laughed out loud, props to the editor

Justin

My theory on blue and red dragon is the color of fire they bend. Azula’s is intense and destructive blue while Iroh’s is red, calm and warm.
