Ange can't remember the Nojiko-Nami-Mousey from happening in the live action because they took the liberty to change the fundamental story. In the live action, Nojiko, Gen, and the villagers are not aware of Nami's sacrifices. It is tiring reading people's comments that "of course, it is not 1 to 1." I get it I do. However, the writer changed the fundamentals of the story. I (and I know other fans share this opinion) hate that. OPLA is good compared to other live actions out there but story wise? It sucks. LOL. The only good thing it did is to bring in new fans.

Mostly Hooman

Loved the struggle of choosing between a rat and a shark :D

DietPop

I'm with Carlie! Stupid rat! Stupid rat!

Nami and her moment!! The walk to Arlong park!! Holy peak. The walk to Arlong park by the boys is one of the most iconic moments in early One Piece. It's one of those things you always remember watching the first time.

John Paul

Y'all crazy, Arlong killed Nami's mother right in front of her. Worst piece of shit so far.

Igor Sousa

the better part is luffy dont know about nami history she just her nakama and he dont need more nothing

tris273

Ok cried 4 episodes THROUGH. Dont know how i expected a "mild" start to a big story. What tensionate storytelling this dude puts outs there. Feels insane. What a rollercoaster already.

Actually, if Nami didnt ask for help, Luffy would not help. Luffy never help someone who doesnt want to be helped with. He knew enough that the village is in some situation. But he respected what Nami decided back then so he just lied down on the ground waiting for the time that Nami changing her mind. His help doesnt need knowing Nami's background. He cares only who Nami is and her present time. He trust her and love her without conditions. He would never involve into his friends' matter randomly just because he himself thinks they need help; instead, he will always be there waiting for them until they really need him. Then he will give them everything he can give to them

Awesome surprise! Y'all have been mentioning this moment since you started the anime up and I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as you did. Seeing y'all so angry in the discussion was great lol.

cdnumber1

I just love how with everything going on, Luffy is the most unaware of the situation out of everyone, so when he rocks up at the end and smashes down the door the biggest villain so far, he doesn't even know who he's here to fight, just his name, and goes "which one of you is Arlong." It's such a boss move, like which one of you do I have to beat up to cheer up my crewmate.

forestmarmot

"eee ee eee. SHUTUP! Stupid Rat!" I laughed at that and almost spit my drink all over my desk

SomeoneElse

I'm so looking forward to you guys getting past where the Live Action ends

In French, "belle" means beautiful or beauty, and "mere" is a normal way of saying mom or mother. But in France they call a step mom, or a mom who takes you in, Bellemere so it's a name and a reference and a story. lol Oda is great.

There is a say in the One Piece community that if you don’t feel anything while watching episode 37 (especially the Luffy giving his hat to Nami moment and ‘the walk’) that means the show is not for you. So this episode is usually the one most of One Piece fans nominate as the one that hooked them to the show. Side characters in One Piece are masterpieces. They are not just there for decoration, but are used by Oda to create a tangible, realistic, and living world.

Not an ange hating the mid breaks for not being able to read the room! Lol i normally just use that as time to wipe my tears and blow my nose. 🤭 Ohgosh carlie's anger on rat dude... same here. I remember how mad i was, i almost punched my screen the first time i watched that scene.

Mone

Thanks for calling out what Genzo really is! He's their father 🥹❤️

another difference from the LA to the anime is that nami actually gets kidnapped in the anime, whereas in the LA nami went to arlong to give herself up

Jacob Villarreal

The village knowing the whole time is a big difference from the LA, they were all supporting her in their own way which I thought was really touching. Also they couldn't help her with the 100 million because they had to consistently pay tribute to Arlong. My favorite line from the anime in this arc is when Luffy asks "Which one of you is Arlong?" perfectly showcasing how he has no knowledge of what happen or who Arlong even is but completely locked in and willing to help his friend.

Jacob Villarreal

One more thing I'll say, is Arlong does have a sense of pride, but only when with his own kind, the fishmen, he will use plenty of dirty/villainous tactics when dealing with humans.

Nilton Felix

Guys that discussion WAS MAGNIFICENT! I LOVE YA SO MUCH DAMMIT

zara heads

the fact that the whole village pretended not to know so she could run away if she wanted without guilt i forgot about that part
