Ecilla

Oh shit, prepare to cry y’all.

cell

Ah I’m so happy that you guys are reacting to this series, it made me cry so many times and when me and my 60 year old father watched the final movie, it was the only time I’ve ever seen him cry so I’m sure you guys will too 😁

Aidan

There are three movies for this show, personally I think they are all worth the watch. However the last one is a must watch as it completes the series

Decaf

I remember when this show was released, people were looking for high-resolution desktop background pictures of this show. 😁

PackerMan

If you want animation at this level, you should check out other anime by the same studio, Kyoto Animation.

To add some extra detail: the extra "episode 14" special takes between ep 4 and 5 and the Violet Evergarden Gaiden movie are both excellent side stories where the quality is on par with the main story. Violet Evergarden Movie is a must-watch because it's a sequel that wraps up the main story.

le

Did I hallucinate you guys saying you were gonna do Haikyuu?

Aldi Ajce

I took a pretty long break after a certain episode destroyed me but I guess now's a good time to jump back in and finish this show 🤣

Jason

There are 13 episodes, one extra episode, and two movies i think.

TetraLuna

Benedict is Inumaki from JJK, Hodgins is indeed Mr Shirogane and Zeke, Gilbert is Hohenheim (in original japanese version) and Haganezuka

Aizensalami

Finally! This is one of my favorite anime of all time. It gives a very beautiful video and audio experience. I remember being very emotionally attached to it. It's the kind of a show that makes you feel empty after you finish watching it... You got it right, the president is Zeke's VA XD, and the blonde guy is Toge from JJK (the one who speaks only with ingredients). Ishikawa Yui (Violet's VA) won the best female VA award in 2021 for her role as Violet in the 2nd movie, which is a must watch. She also does Mikasa as you noticed.

MADHOUSE
>>111070038

Yup, was about to say. It's nice to see Carlie and Ange recognize some of the voices now, even pin-pointing certain VA's characters from other shows like Zeke and Mikasa. While they missed who shares Benedict's voice, at least they recognize it, so that's neat.

MADHOUSE

It's been a minute since you two have seen the movie, but this show is done by the same studio (Kyoto Animation, AKA "KyoAni") that made "A Silent Voice". I love how fluid their animation is for any show/movie that they produce, and this show has some amazing shots as well. I know this came out before the KyoAni arson incident, but glad to see they're still making shows

KaijinGarou

The lieutenant's voice is clearly Clayman from Tenshei Shitara but you didn't watch that so I'm not sure where you heard him. I planned to watch this show for the first time along with you but man the animation is looking too clean. Maybe I need to watch it full screen first 😅

Toidleboy

One day 86 will come! excited for this tho

KaijinGarou

I'm curious to know why she has that habit of biting everything new she gets. Don't tell me though but she sure seems to have some animal-like costumes obviously related to this weapon backstory that's being hinted.

Aaron Perez

So excited for this reaction! I've been spamming the comment sections about it for a year almost lol

KaijinGarou
>>111073757

Oh I guess it's maybe because she's used to not have arms and also because that was her last form of contact with this major. I didn't expect an answer in this episode xD but maybe there's more to it.

Norrin Radd

This show is incredible! Watch it in English!

Disantos

Aw man.. Me after 5 mins in... "i don't want to cry anymoreeeee..." *sob sob* When i watched it for the first time i thought it isn't that sad.. I had a few bad weeks afterwards watching the next episodes. Q_q

Astrea Stars

It's animated by Kyoto Animation (or KyoAni) and it's one of the most acclaimed and beloved anime studios that left a huge impact on the 2000s anime fans with all-time classics like Clannad, K-On, Lucky Star, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and many more I could name. They also animated A Silent Voice movie that y'all watch. It's not one of the biggest studios out there but I've never seen and felt a more passionate studio that focuses on quality over quantity. They have a team of well-paid in-house trained salaried animators rather than relying on the pool of freelancers that almost all other studios do and then underpaying and overworking them. Treating animators well can give you some incredible animes, what a surprise! 😁 But in the summer of 2019, KyoAni suffered an arson massacre on its main studio building that left 36 of all 176 KyoAni employees dead and several dozens injured. It took the lives of many talented people and left the whole anime community around the world shocked and devastated when the news broke. As KyoAni was recovering from the tragedy. COVID happened, which delayed their projects even further. Some victims of the arson include Yasuhiro Takemoto, the director of Lucky Star and Haruhi mentioned above who also did the storyboard for a couple of episodes of Violet Evergarden, Mikiko Watanabe is the art director for Violet Evergarden. The visuals of Violet Evergarden can speak for how amazingly talented she is. Onto a piece of fortunate news though, Naoko Yamada, the director of A Silent Voice, survived the arson attack. KyoAni didn't deserve this tragedy for all the amazing work they do for the anime community. KyoAni will forever hold a special place in the hearts of anime fans.

Yes, it’s because she doesn’t have any feeling in her metal arms. Using her mouth is the easiest way to feeling the texture of something.

Megan
>>111078493

I love KyoAni and almost every they have made. They have some most talented staff, animators and directors in the industry. Everything they produce just oozes artistry and quality. Violet Evergarden was my first KyoAni show a few years ago and it remains one of my favorite anime to this day. I hope to see more of their shows on here and other reaction channels in the future! RIP to all the souls lost 2019 arson fire.

le

Omg I didn’t mean the haikyuu comment to come off as rude I was just genuinely asking cause I couldn’t remember if you said it or not 😭

Noctis

Will we be getting the kaguya op and eds today as said in the movie reaction post or last second schedule changes?

Emerald Artist

Is the link not working for anyone else?

Kevin T

You guys should definitely check out the OP/ED for this one since there are no spoilers, only feels ;(

Toidleboy
>>111101441

thats the one thing i hope i can get across to them when it finally comes down to watching 86, they can skip the opening if they want, but the ending for 86 in every episode is integral; its different in every episode plus the music is immaculate which Ange would appreciate plus theres absolutely no spoilers in them plus there are important end credit scenes in almost every episode it just heightens the show even more so when watching the endings. (lots of +'s haha)

Toidleboy
>>111101441

but yes back to Violet Evergarden the feels you get with the op/ed are amazing

KuroNekoMataXIII

Y'all make sure you have some tissues handy for this series. I teared up if not full out bawled on every episode + the movie. And I will bawl all over again watching your reactions! Woot!

Nethzil

Alright alright I get it, feels like a lot of new reactors are choosing this, so I am gonna watch it myself finally. Dis bedda be gud

Norrin Radd

If you watch it in English, it will resonate more.

The Great Santini
>>111117754

It's excellent if you like mature anime. It's not really one that people who STRICTLY enjoy shounen would enjoy, IMO.

Steve.
>>111163965

Dub fans stay gaslighting people who don’t want to listen to C-Tier voice work when the original is perfectly fine

Rue Ryuuzaki
>>111163965

Well, because there are actual people that are suggeting to watch anime dubbed which is very stupid

Nethzil
>>111117754

I dont enjoy shonen, but Violet Evergarden always struck me as "looks beautiful and is probably a sad story" and that had 0 hook for me. Lets see if I get hooked. (Havent watched the reaction yet, this weekend I'll start myself).

Amrith
>>111078493

Freaking crime against humanity. I remember reading about the attack on the news and I never realized it's the same studio animating this masterpiece. This is by far the best animation I have ever seen in an anime other than movies. All that collective talent unnecessarily lost. Makes one angry.

Gabriel Barott
>>111163965

Samir, tbf sub AND dub purists can be equally awful. If you prefer English, that's fine, but it's (usually) still objectively lower quality. Often times it seems like the dub VAs are provided with the script, but no tone/emotional direction. Or it could have something to do with adding less or more flavor to the script in order to match the mouths of the characters better. Leading to unnecessary wording or dialogue. People like what they like though, and we should just respect their choice to watch it in Japanese, since they've mentioned on numerous occasions that it's their preference.

wicecakes
>>111163965

@Gabriel meh the noise is definitely louder on the subbed side of the fence. Person just made a harmless suggestion that probably won't influence c&a's preference and now he's getting flamed in the comments

Gabriel Barott
>>111163965

That's really just a fallacy. Neither side is more or less annoying, and is a lot of times a case by case per anime.

Amrith
>>111163965

Even though I mostly watch anime subbed, If I hear a dub is great (like Stein's gate or FMAB), I will gravitate towards it over sub any day. In this case though the main character is being voiced by Mikasa's VA. How can one say no to that.

Norrin Radd
>>111163965

@Amrith, I’m the same. New anime I watch in Japanese, but if the anime is already out in English and it’s good I’ll watch that. There’s really only one reason… I only speak English. I don’t mind listening to other languages. Some of my favorite content is in my other languages. It’s just easier to immerse myself in the content when I can understand what everyone’s saying without an intermediary. Btw, this isn’t about a subbed vs dubbed preference, but instead an issue of preferred language. All anime is dubbed, and we all choose what language we want to hear the characters speak most. Say the Brazilian dub is better than the Japanese dub, you gonna miss out on that, porra?! The “subbed” fans are really just saying they don’t like listening to people speak English, which is totally fine, but that’s the language I speak so I like it. 👍🏾

Meg B

This series has a very close place in my heart. I hope you guys enjoy! The tissue box will definitely be your bestie for this one, Carlie.

Denden Balan-eg

Have been watching this two since they started with their first show on youtube with Everyone is dead, I just made a patreon account and first time subscribing all because of this show 🤣

Gaby

I'm sorry, how can I watch the video? I don't see any video links...or am I the problem? 👉👈 The same thing happens to me with OVA and episodes 5 and 6. 😊☺

MO

Guys am I the only one that hates that they still use audio from the actual movie or series? I want to synch my video with theirs and use the actual audio from the movie I watch since its much clearer and better

Hay Thar

Can someone help ... why can't i click the submit button in streamable?

Hay Thar

guys why can’t i type in the password?

Rinnzu Rosendale

aw they watched it subbed? dang. Cant watch it I guess.

Rinnzu Rosendale
>>111163965

Watching anime subbed is awful. Its just an elitist thing. You get way more context in your native tongue. Moreover it's much easier for a sub watcher to watch a dub than a dub watcher to watch a sub. even if they don't act like it. Reactors that watch subs at the behest of the vocal minority of elitists limit their reach and those fans ultimately hurt the channel.

Alex McCalmont
>>160731369

I mean you can read and also don't have to hear the agonisingly cringe voice acting from the dub so not sure why you can't.

Rinnzu Rosendale
>>160731369

I litterally just said I cant read it and the dub is great cause its english done by excelent VAs.
