Alright everybody this'll be my last call for anybody interested in Carlie and Ange reacting to anime OSTs, at least for a while. If anybody is interested, like this comment and preferably reply so that they can see it, otherwise they won't be able to make time in their schedule with all of the stuff they have going on already. Edit: when I say OSTs I'm not talking about openings and endings

I don't think they have. They definitely try to listen during the episodes though. When I mentioned the idea to them they didn't say anything about how they've already listened to a ton of ost's on their own

Just as an FYI as it never really ever comes back up, the main JJK timeline takes place around 2018 and this arc takes place somewhere in the late 90's to mid 2000's. So you may be right that Gojo and crew are probably around 30 years old. It's also why VHS' and Digimon are present or topics of discussion. Also flip phones. The attention to detail is great.

This arc explicitly takes place in 2006. It was shown in the manga and in the trailer for the second season.

btw, if u guys do plan on finishing that re-watch of season 1, you’ll get to learn a tiny bit about Tengen in the later episodes of S1, as well as some minor backstory into Megumi’s childhood. So hyped for this season!

I think that becoming a genocide supporter just by tasting too many vomit-flavored curses is a bit of an escalation to be the real reason, Carlie 🤣 but it is interesting how Getto was the one talking about the importance of protecting the weak and Gojo the opposite when we know how that ends and I'm sure we'll explore how those lines of thought flipped around in this season.

I watched a couple of other reactions for this episode already, and they didn't realize that Ieiri was the doctor. I do enjoy how different her personality is here, though. She's so nonchalant and acts as the comic relief character (minus Gojou)

Ah, it's just that I remember reading the manga years ago and I noticed that they don't retread specific dates. I never saw the trailer but I know that during this arc they don't really make much mention of the time period, so I was just contextualizing. I remembered that the main time line was like 2018 going into 2019, but it's been forever since I read this arc. I was just trying to recontextualize the time period because I was noticing all these time frame references like Digimon that I didn't notice in my first read through.

Great cover Ange! btw there seems to be some mix-up regarding two factions who wants to kill the vessel. Group Q has sorcerers and wants to kill the vessel to upend the current jujutsu system, and the religious group is muggles who want to kill the vessel to preserve the purity of Tengen so they hired the badass.

I think it's an interesting dynamic of the powers that Gojo and Geto are. Both are considered special grade sorcerorss but Gojo seems nigh unstoppable and all powerful seemingly without even trying and Geto has to rely on amassing a huge army of cursed spirits by scrapping them up one by one in a way that is demeaning to him. I think the themes of this season are going to be what it means to strong or weak and responsibilites. Geto goes from being obliged to protecting the non sorcerers and weak humans to hating them with his very soul. Whilst Gojo goes from looking down on them as they only drag down his greatness to wanting to elevate them from being weak in the first place.
