Let's gooo!

Kinme

There's an additional movie AND an OVA (not the one you just watched). The movie is just called Violet Evergarden: The Movie and the OVA is called Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Automemory doll. The next OVA takes place right after series' end and the movie takes place after that.

Santiago

Thanks for the double drop this week!

yeaay so happy

KyoAni make some of the most beautifully aesthetic anime. They look great and you can tell there's a lot of heart and care put into the works.

Its blown us away. Especially considering the time period it takes place in. Its generally quite washed out but this looks amazing

William Wellman

It actually started in the first episode, that the people who meet Violet narrate their thoughts on her. Also, Violet is now possibly the most studied person on the planet when it comes to love letters.

adam

imagine if everyone is as straightforward and as honest as violet, the world would be a better place, this show's storytelling really evoke lots of emotions

Atar

yay

Aizensalami

Love this! Thanks in advance for the double upload :) This show has a really nice storia line doesn't it? :)

KaijinGarou

In the version I watched, Violet said to Iris that she told her parents about Eamonn because she didn't say it was classified information instead of "a secret" and I think that's funnier and cuter and fits better Violet's backstory.

Amrith

It makes sense from a chronological perspective to see the OVA between two episodes but it hits harder when you see it after the series; emotionally. The aria comes to life.

KaijinGarou

After watching your reactions for quite a long time now since Arcane, I know well Ange loves an emotional story driven by characters and with a lot of heart. Don't know who's saying otherwise but don't pay attention to them xD. One of the man's favorite shows is Vinland Saga so there's no arguing against this 😅

It has to be this way though. Otherwise it feels like there was a time skip between episodes without notice.

I personally had never seen this OVA, and I had no issue watching the rest of the anime all the way through. I heard them mention the opera, but it wasn't super integral to what happens going forward. Still a great OVA nevertheless!

Kevin T

Gilbert the Rizz LORD! "I hope her metal arms don't malfunction and poison her body" 😂

Roboton

The whole concept is great because it explores the different aspects of love through the eyes of someone who mostly only knew of the opposite through war and employs a logical approach. This episode for example, was a bit about the courage of confessing love and the pain/humiliation of rejection. Also the importance of communicating with family and misunderstandings that can arise when you don't. There are a lot of great episodes to go! You mentioned her not being in tune with her trauma - Claudia mentioned it subtly in episode one: "You don't realise that your body is on fire and burning up because of the things you did" to Violet's confusion. So good catch!

Amrith

Every episode is from a different POV about Violet and how it changed their life, Ange. You are absolutely right.

Well it's not like you'd be completely lost but it'd sure feel like you missed some character development from Violet there since SPOILER she was still pretty bad at writing last episode and in the next she's like a legend. Only this OVA explains that jump.

They already assumed that episodes ago so I don't know why they forgot their assumption 😂. Too many shows at once, I guess.

the last thing i thought carlie would say is "rizz" 😭😭😭
