We got another confrontation at the Fan home, the emperor insists that Marquis Wu An has fallen in battle, but the Prime minister disagrees, and we have the wedding festivities beginning.

Sorry if my camera looks a little blurry, my OBS recorded at a lower resolution on this for some reason. (Harris)

Oh yeah very nice to be back for this round together 🥰

fear

the actor for Song Yan was AI is because he was part of a BL project which violates china regulations.

Seelia

Changyu is my girl crush. I love her so much. She's so pretty, endearing, vulnerable, but strong when she needs to be. I love her outfits too, her everyday wear is so flattering and stylish. Then there's the Marquis of Wu'an/Yan Zhang/Xie Zhang. The phonetic pronunciation should sound more like this... (Yaan Juung) This man is absolutely breathtaking. He's definitely in love with her now, you can tell by the way he's always trying to help her behind the scenes. He got her hair pin back, he's making money behind her back to help her, he agreed to marry her to help with her situation, etc. We all know he agreed to marry her cuz he's already fallen for her. 😍 Their romance is so organic and real and this world seems so lived in and alive. The world building in this drama is exceptional I think.

Btw, you guys might have to start a family tree, or rather a faction chart so you can keep all the characters in the right place. Also, some of the characters will have more than one name. Sometimes their given names will be used, but some will be called by their title, and I learned they mostly talk about themselves in the 3rd person.

Really, I thought it was just another actor they placed over his face that looked similar..... China is really something else when it comes to stuff like this

CuteBean

I did not know the ex fiance's face was edited in. no wonder something about his face always unsettled me, now I know why. It's going to be torture to keep waiting for only 2 episodes a week. Can't wait for some of my fave characters to appear.

CuteBean

China doesn't play around. An actor can just fart wrongly and all of a sudden they are being cancelled.

Yuri ⋆。°✩

Their relationship is top tier for me, they have so much chemistry and i love how their relationship develops. And both characters are such badass, they together make a great power couple. And yes her eyes are absolutely mesmerizing ✨

Yuri ⋆。°✩

It might get extremely confusing later on, because there will be so many characters with multiple names (real names, titles and all), and all the political/conspiracy stuff, so keep a note on those things. It's a great enjoyable drama, hoping you'll have have fun watching it.

Yuri ⋆。°✩

I also thought it was another actors face over him, i read that somewhere, is it not?😭

fear

yea, they used AI to faceswap another actors face. It is kind of like when some video games use AI to make sure the characters are mouthing the dialogue correctly in cinematic scenes etc, except for this character it is his whole face.

Shay Peart

There are a lot of good Cdramas out there that I would love to see your reactions to (Prisoner of Beauty, Legend of the Female General, Speed and Love, Hidden Love, etc.), but I know it all depends on the feedback. But, I'm glad y'all are loving it so far. I don't think I've seen both of you like a ML this fast lol.

Abigail Chavez

I think maybe other’s might have informed you but the actor who plays the ex-fiancé didn’t do anything bad it’s just the fact that he was in a BL so they put another actors face on his body with AI

It's about time to started transitioning from K-drama to C-drama. Let's start distancing from the same-old star-dependent romance dramas w/ same-old tropes & cliches (and also the same-old actors appearing in EVERY show). Not too late at all. If the number of likes doesn't prove it then I don't know what else does.

Yuri ⋆。°✩

I think they later on mention her age being 19 (which shocked me so much, I mean sure she passes as 19 yo, but all the things she's being doing at that age, damnnn)

hj y

The chinese are too rude. Why do you make this comparison?

soulpc

just stating the obvious. C-dramas are getting WAY more likes than K-dramas on this channel. I am sorry if my comment struck your sore spot, but if the truth hurts, stay away and keep staying in your own bubble. No one's stopping you.

hj y

That's right. The number of likes on this channel is more important than Netflix and Disney+ rankings and the number of followers of actors.

soulpc

Yes, K-dramas have been popular for the past few years. And yes, these Korean "stars" are followed by many people on social media. But like I said last time, it's the end of the cycle. Besides "When Life gives you Tangerines", was there any more good show from K-drama in the past year or two? K-drama is in crisis. Korean people should realize it faster than others, but people like you can't see it - only blinded by the pride that came from the fact that such a tiny country won such a "big" victory (so-called "국뽕", right?) Outside Korea, the viewers are getting tired of the same thing over and over. let me make a prediction - sooner than later, this channel will operate 2 C-dramas + 1 K-drama a week. Do you think they won't notice the number of likes? Or do you think they'd keep on watching 5 dramas a week like now? Nope. Let's just be glad they won't ditch K-drama for good.

hj y

I think k-drama may be on the decline in the future. But I don't think c-drama will do better because of global anti-China sentiment. If bts were a Chinese singer, do you think they would have become world-class singers?

hj y

However, There is hope because c-drama Perfect Crown was somewhat successful. HAHA

soulpc

Perfect Crown represents the biggest problem with the current K-drama, so don't even go there. Honestly, I am not so sure about C-pop. No, I don't think Chinese BTS could've been so popular. C-pop is now basically a copycat of K-pop, only in Chinese language. As for C-drama, it may do well because international audience that are getting tired of K-drama are looking to somewhere else - China, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, and also, Japan that's trying hard to win the audience back. China might have a better chance because it's just so huge - the amount of talents in every area (writing, production, acting) can only be matched with the United States. Anti-China sentiment doesn't really matter when it comes to the entertainment industry. K-drama and K-pop have been doing well in South-East Asia despite the anti-Korea sentiment over there. (You can't deny Koreans DO look down on South-East Asian countries and their people) Iran is one of the most politically problematic countries, but their cultural heritage is rich, and their films are respected internationally. Do you think people here like C-drama because they like China as a country? I don't think so. It's all about the contents - thanks to decent contents, even a tiny and not-so-special country like South Korea can get the recognition all over the world.

Lani S

She's 18. In the book, she's actually 16 so they made her older here. Titles are never their lineage name. It's almost always based on some geography/land that the emperor is bestowing on the noble with his title. So in the title Marquis of Wu'an, Wu'an is not his given/birth name. It's probably some fiefdom or land gifted to him. His given name is Xie Zheng (sheh jung). Xie is the name of his clan. You will see another name later on that they call courtesy name. So don't get confused. It's a name usually given to the nobility when they come of age and usually means something to the person or describes a trait of that person. Typically used by close friends/family. And you're right @Justin, because there was no social media, there was no way for the commoners to know what the higher ups looked like.

Lani S

I agree! Their love story does ruin other dramas. @Seelia, I know you're as obsessed with these 2 as I am, but I've started watching The Best Thing and fell even deeper with ZLH. It's slice of life type of show so if you're not into that, then I don't recommend. But his character is just to die for, and the FL is so pretty too.

Seelia

Yes, I've already seen The Best Thing! Linghe is green flag everywhere in that drama! It's my 2nd favorite after PoJ from this man. Dr He is the best modern character he's played. 😍😍😍

Lani S

PoJ was my first cdrama, and now The Best Thing will be my 2nd. 😍

Seelia

Oh really?!! These two dramas are definitely going to spoil your outlook on relationships in other dramas going forward. You started at the top! 😂 Enjoy world building, check out Arsenal Military Academy. It has my favorite C-actress Bai Lu. She's just like Changyu in that drama. Beautiful, sweet, but strong and can fight. Male lead Xu Kai is gorgeous too. ❤

meenoi

You can never go wrong on any Cdrama leads’ chemistry. I watched lot of cdramas this year and damn all of them have 100% chemistry. Can’t move on all characters and their love stories 🥰

Seelia

It's 4 episodes starting next week. ❤

nibi Life

The effort both the mains did for their action scenes are also very admirable ~ their chemistry is really one of the best in c-dramas I reckon! ☺️ Oh and I agree with the others, a character list will definitely need to be made to keep track! 💜 but yes the make up artists and stylist deserve an award! They make everyone look like they jump out of an RPG game ☺️

Aish

Is it really? 4 eps?

Florina Niko

You are ruining it with these comparisons... POJ is a show that will get many likes on pretty much any channel for obvious reasons but let's not act like that it's the same with any cdrama out there, Same with the kdramas, they had many likes on some and less on others. Now if you like them more, it's honestly subjective, the kdramas are still very popular for a reason too.
