Progress Report - Week of 2024/05/19 (Patreon)

Hello, everyone! Last week was surprisingly productive for a week where I took two official days off (and one, uh, unofficial one). I went to Midland Mayhem last weekend, the largest Sorcery: Contested Realm tournament/gathering in the midwest. I didn't have a constructed deck of my own, so I borrowed one and came in eighth place out of around twenty contestants, so not a bad showing for my first competition! I intended to get back to work on Monday, but we got home around one in the morning, which means that the next day's schedule was thrown off really badly, and that's still something that I'm very bad at dealing with. Always working on improving. Here's a breakdown of how the channel is going, with a full accounting of my work hours available in the attached Excel spreadsheet!

RESEARCH: Did a rewatch of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End for the new video. If you hadn't noticed, it's officially won the most recent poll, and will be the topic of the next video. The whole thing is rewatched! That accounts for all ten and a half hours of the Tuesday and Wednesday research time. Frieren remains the queen of all anime. Nothing much new to report there. As for the two hours of Friday research time, that was devoted to keeping up with seasonals. Jellyfish, Bartender, Kaiju No. 8, and Astro Note remain good, and we also watched the first episode of Go Go Loser Ranger!, which had a lot of heart to it. I think it could do interesting things in the future, but I didn't care for it enough, personally, to keep watching. The Saturday research time was me finally starting Code Geass, which. . . is influential and important and I should know about it. I'll have more to say once I'm more than four episodes in.

SCRIPT WRITING: Got a start on the Frieren script! I have around a thousand words already written and most of it is outlined. Very happy with the opening paragraph of this one. Should be good, even though I'm worried about how well-suited Frieren is to this style of review video.

AUDIO RECORDING/EDITING: Recorded two different versions of the second Frieren OP for the new video. Thanks to some feedback from people on the Discord, I decided that recording the OP in its original key just wasn't going to happen for my poor, strained vocal cords, so I re-recorded it transposed into a lower key. Very pleased with the results. I'll post it here once it's cleaned up.

ANIME CLUB: Spent a little over four and a half hours watching Hinamatsuri for anime club this week, and you can hear all about my thoughts on that by watching the video.

New poll is going to be posted in a couple of days! Hope you all are having a good day. Talk to you later!
