Tweaking AMD 7950x & 192GB DDR5 for Maximum Performance! (Patreon)
Content
Hi guys,
I just upgraded old setup, and it’s been a game changer for the project. Here’s the new gear:
AMD 7950x, 16 cores
192 GB RAM running at 5200MHz
X670E Taichi Carrara, which allows for dual GPUs.
First impression? The AMD 7950x is a beast. Can you imagine compiling Unreal Engine 5 in just 30 minutes? For comparison, my old 6-core i7-3970X took about 4 hours for the same task—no joke.
That said, the 192 GB RAM was a bit tricky. Officially, the 7950x supports 4x2R sticks only at DDR5-3600, but the memory we got runs at 5200MHz. After some trial and error, I managed to tweak the BIOS settings and get it running stable at 5200MHz. I ran a full TestMem5 check, which took 4 hours and came back with no errors. I’ll continue testing to be sure everything’s rock solid, but so far, it’s looking good!
In case anyone’s in a similar situation and wants to try these tweaks, here are the DDR5 BIOS settings that worked for me:
