THIS WAS THE FUNNIEST GOSE EPISODE YET XD

Okay, before anything, we forgot to mention that thanks to y'all, we learned before going into this episode that Dino's character had appeared before and that he is just everywhere at this point (hence the name). So don't worry, we know that much XD

Secondly, Korean knowledge is everything if you want to really GET the jokes and the context. So more so than any other times, if you have questions, ask us :D

Otherwise, we say everything we need to say in the video, so we'll bounce to check out the second part of this epic series :):) this was hilarious!

We said Dino, or DK, or whatever, but we really can't choose our MVP, at least not yet XD

Enjoy <3

Lulu

Should do a try hard not to laugh challenge with them 😂

tim

Yesss!! There are some episodes that i really cant wait to watch with you because i cant understand well the translation, but they laughed so hard..e.g all Insomnia Zero series and Debate Night series..

Lulu

Seungkwan and S.coups unfortunately are not in these episodes ☹️

Emma.

S.Coups and Seungkwan are the two missing. You will see Vernon next episode. I am curious what is the trot popularity in South Korea? I have also heard idols are not really popular among the general population as a whole. What is the most popular type of music then?

izzie

jeonghan/charles yawns bc theres a song titled yawn in the god of music album!

Lauren Freeman

The trot version of god of music might be more fun than the original imo. So funny

konekochan

God of Light music lets goo!! Coups and Seungkwan were on hiatus around this time. Vernonie will be on the next ep! Lmaoo it was so fun seeing you guys enjoy the Korean references/wordplay 😂 And Dino, yes! He turns into a whole new person when he plays Pi Cheolin its actually insane. This is all improv by the boys and all of them are so good! I think they usually get a character/general flow of the scene then they take it from there 😂 Fun fact: this episode was released before the actual song/comeback, so Jeonghan's character that keeps on yawning was a hidden spoiler because they had a song called "Yawn" in the album. Cant wait for the next!!

magy_streetlight

Man, I was waiting for this post all week!!! Friday’s are Gose-Sausage days now!

CavaeStella

I’ve been wanting to ask this: Charles, Leo and Seokmin keep highlighting their age (40, 35 and 25, respectively). Is there any context that might be related to trot or Korean music business? Perhaps there is something more significant than just to show that they are considered old as trainees?

Jade V

The skit episodes of Going Seventeen (including this one) are almost 100% improv actually ! They get character descriptions and plot points to follow but how they get there is totally up to them and all of their lines are fully improvised. There are moments you can see them actively brainstorming how to respond and those are the funniest for me 😆

Handsome Sausages

Trot is extremely "well-known" but is mostly 'actually' popular among the older generation! Also, you're right about idols because, firstly, there are way too many, and secondly, it's usually—and I say this loosely—for the younger generation in Korea. But more importantly, even the popular ones that a lot more people know usually come from charts, meaning people discover groups from songs that become a massive hit. That, or when a group or a member from the group shows up on a lot of different TV programs—for Koreans as a whole, it's more about exposure on TV as a person than as an idol with music. Lastly, the most popular type of music, therefore, cannot be stated, but I'd say something all generations can easily listen to, which COULD be from an idol, but likely a variation on ballad or pop piece that, again, gets played a lot on TVs and radios and whatnot.

Handsome Sausages

I'd say it's probably just for comedic effect and nothing more—like you say, to show how they're old trainees, especially given the flow of that segment—but maybeeee there is something XD Will talk to Han-C and see if he can come up with something

Laura F

In this comeback, S. Coups was still recovering from his leg injury. Vernon appears in the recording studio in the next episode. I don't remember why Seungkwan doesn't appear. You have to see God of Light Music's performance at Caratland 2024; it's great!

Thunder Monkey

Seventeen is notorious for not following the script in everything they do. This is the magic behind them that the other groups can't quite pull off in copy-cat contents. They have chemistry between the members and they know eachother so well that they don't need scripts their booming personalities entertain and uplift us. Seventeen contents are good medicine for our souls. They don't care about the idol image, they are theater kids, they are comedians, they are all rounder super-idols, and they are humble human beings. This is why we love them. Thank you D-Some and Han-C for these SVT adventures. You are true diamonds!

Mya

Thank you so much for reacting to this!! Been waiting for it!! One of my fav specials by seventeen!! Dino is always so funny but he kills me here 😂 Can’t wait for next episode!!

tim

Seungkwan was on hiatus from July (health reason) until NaNa Tour/ GOM comeback..

PaperCrown

The trot version of GOM is actually really popular and it even charted. They also performed it with its own choreography at Caratland. The video for the performance can be found on their YT channel. NOT A SPOILER: in the closing part of this episode: Seungkwan is listed as a promoter and Coups is an investor. The crew always find a way to include members who are absent.

Marnz

YES, I completely agree. I cannot seem to watch the other groups' variety shows. Going Seventeen is just so funny and my stress therapy. Seventeen members just have a way of acting so naturally. Don't Lie series... one of the best for me.

ashonashonash

So once you guys react to the second part you have to do a deep dive into BSS's fighting and their performance at the Golden Disk Awards. It'll be worth it!

ashonashonash

They did go on to release a trot version of god of music along with god of light music, both of which are amazing!

Anna

I would suggest when you watch the next ep also watch the caratland god of light music performance to tie it all together. Also pi cheolin also attended GDA 2024 with BSS. I swear svt is so serious about being unserious. Thanks for reacting I cant wait for the next ep! They are so funny even without scripts. The staff just give them a role then they go along with it. Also dino has a lot of characters cant wait for you guys to dive deeper into svt lore 😊 thanks again!

ddaddu

seungkwan was on hiatus and scoups was recovering from his knee injury, vernon will appear in the next ep x

_nora_

This was hilarious!! I'm watching everything for the first time with you guys, so it's cool to see svt do a skit and see their acting and improv side for the first time xD They were really good! Dino was amazing (lowkey he might be my bias), and DK was cracking me up loll Also a general question I have, maybe a carat can explain lmao: Is "Pi Cheolin" and "Fe Turin" just different spellings for the same character or are they different characters?

Jade V

It's the same character with different spelling. Pi Cheolin is closer to the actual korean spelling, but the joke is that it sounds just like how "Featuring" would be pronounced in korean (Dino's character is a nosy old man who "features" in every scene, invited or not). The translators translated it to Fe Turin to make it closer to the english spelling of Featuring

_nora_

Oh okay, that makes sense! thank you for explaining🫶 I just heard of Pi Cheolin from the gda performance but didn't know any context.

Ariel Farah

So fun! When you mentioned they way Dino was speaking, it made me curious how the members speak korean - As someone only fluent in English when Joshua and Vernon speak english I can hear personality/nuances and even lack of use in their english and I'm curious how the members sound to someone fluent in korean?

hoshnothoshi

the fact that seventeen love doing ad lib sketch comedy and committing to the bit but they can’t hold their laughter makes it 1000% times funnier. pi cheolin debuted in the 2021 caratland going seventeen special episode which they do a different concept each caratland and ever since then the character has taken a life of its own! for example watching the going rangers skit from caratland 2023? would make more sense for the inevitable official going seventeen episodes!

Thunder Monkey

Maestro comeback special next! Also the Inside Seventeen for Maestro too! There is so much platinum co tents for Seventeen in the universe! I can't wait!!!

ashonashonash

Okay also, the lines woozi made dino sing was from the song Snap Shoot

Fay

There’s so much history with Fe Turin! Started off as a nosy old man in a small town to having his own music company and he even made his debut on an award show when he did his own Fighting rap for BSS last year! Dino is the king of characters

Fay

Scoups had the ACL injury so was in rehabilitation , vernon is in the second episode and seungkwan was on his hiatus.

Tatia

They actually released the trot version of GOM, and it has 20 million streams on Spotify 😂 it even charted high in Korea

nadiii

Yes, it was his rap lines in the song. You’ve heard him singing it already in the Killing Voice.

nadiii

Their adlibs and skits episodes like this one are mostly improvs. As what i have gotten from one of their skits, they’re just given the overall concept and story boards and the rest is up to them.

Handsome Sausages

All the members speak perfect Korean (though The8 and Jun have a bit of an accent). They're just so funny usually lol. If we’re talking about members who speak noticeably differently in this episode, it would be Pi Cheol-In, Seokminie, and Yeon-Pil (Jun)

Handsome Sausages

Because the trot market is aimed at the older generation, the age range of trainees(?) in the industry varies a lot. I’ve even seen a woman in her 40s working as a trainee(?) in a company. But it’s very different compared to idol trainees. Trot trainees tend to perform at local events, especially in rural areas. They even get paid, though not as much as professional trot singers. So, on top of comedic effect, these settings are ACTUALLY legit 😭😭😭

CavaeStella

Thank you DSome & HanC! Makes me want to keep rooting for Charles Steve 😂😂
