[Tier 3] SVT Reads Thirst Tweets (Part 1 & 2) (Patreon)

Ohhhhhh you already know this one's gon be good XD

We talk plenty, and we got proper hard-coded subs for these, so instead of explaining translation related stuffs here, let me continue with how 'thirst' concept works within the Kpop industry.

You can actually hear the members use this word in the first part, but they describe 'thirst' tweets as '주접' comments, which is closer to being 'extra' or 'over the top' as a fan. Not exactly the same as 'thirst tweets' if you ask me, and it certainly doesn't feel the same way in Korean if you understand it :D

Obviously, they used this word because it works in the context, and also because if they tried to translate it properly, it would've felt a bit too inappropriate in Korean. It's not that the Korean society is this naive, closed off thing (and you'd know that obviously), but there still is a harsher boundary that splits personal life VS professional life (ESPECIALLY idol life), where idols that are very Korean (SK and DK comes to mind as an easy example, which we can tell from the way they speak, etc.) will feel particularly surprised to see being crossed and merged in settings like this. Obviously they have their persona lives to live without disturbance, and them acting this way isn't because they're innocent and naive, but these videos do a great job showing how defined this line is.
