THE title track of the album is here, and we're checking out THREE things so we can go nuts and come up with all kinds of conspiracy theories XD

We got the MV, the Performance MV, and instead of the making film, we're going for a LIVE CLIP (swimming pool version) to go all in with the music/dance side of things :):)

As always, questions are welcomed, and maybe it's because so many ppl downplayed this track for us, but WE thought this is HOT. Like, it was actually super interesting AND fun to listen to in general.

So, unexpectedly, had a LOT to talk about :D

ENJOY <3

I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about Swim, I think because it's the title track I'm a bit harsher on it than if it had been a b-side. I love how atmospheric/immersive the music is, agree with Han-C it would be amazing to hear in a theater/imax type setting! Also love the different tones we hear from the vocal members, Jin and V's fuller/richer voices contrasting with JK and Jimin's clearer/brighter tones. Anytime they harmonize or ad lib in the background is my favourite, adds so much more depth to the song. The choreography/performance also felt to me like they made it knowing that the concert stage was 360, so they played around with a lot of different angles, and moments like when they were circling J-hope. I also agree with D'Some, I see both interpretations of the track, either as that surface level, more sensual love song, or reading further into the lyrics as being about the members'/group's journey in the industry. There's also the third, more universal message of just moving forward through any kind of struggle/adversity. I take it more as the second meaning, which I think lines up with the overall heaviness/depth of the track itself, as well as the way they've talked about the album and their intentions with it. There's something almost sad, but still hopeful about the song to me, like they're acknowledging the struggles of their journey but still determined to keep moving forward regardless. Besides the theme/message, Swim kind of feels like an outlier on the album for me, where some of the other songs, while all still different in their own ways, somehow still feel more cohesive within the album as a whole. Obviously this is just my opinion, musical taste is subjective, etc, but I honestly wish they had chosen a higher energy track as the title track. Glad you got to see a bit of their goofy sides with the Swimming Pool clip, they don't do those types of clips super often, but occasionally we get blessed with some Bangtan chaos and it's always a treat to see them have fun! (Butter Hotter Remix is one of the more iconic ones that comes to mind, not quite the same idea as here but even more hilarious and unserious, Airplane Pt.2 Summer Ver. is another great one.)

D'some is so right in that this song lyrics do have layers to it. While you can take this as just a love song, BTS is very good at turning their own emotions about themselves, their situation in life or just about anything they want really, and turning that into a love song. They have said that there is more to this song for them. I would tend to agree with you about how the lyrics could be speaking more about their feelings in a more broad sense than toward a person. I always love hearing both of your views as they always give me more to think about. Also, it makes me a little sad that people said their isn't anything too special about this song because imo there is so much to appreciate about this song and the different layers to it both musically and lyrically.

Really loved hearing your takes on this one! Agreeing with HanC and DSome that, on the surface, this is an overtly sensual, yearning song first, and I think that reading deserves more credit than people give it. Sometimes the most straightforward interpretation IS the right one, and the richness of the vocals here sells that completely. Jin and V's fuller tones against Jimin and JK's clarity create a push-pull tension that fits the yearning theme perfectly, just as RM-Yoongi-Jhope's rap does. That said, I do think both layers coexist rather than compete; the personal longing AND the group's journey narrative aren't mutually exclusive here, which is what makes it work so well. One angle I'd add, though, and this might be a stretch, but hear me out; I think the B-side of Arirang as a whole feels like a distinctly 30-something sound. There's something in how BTS (alongside artists like Taylor Swift, SVT, and TWICE with their recent work) are writing now that reflects where they actually are in life. The chaos, the yearning for a real partner, wanting normalcy away from cameras and fan expectations, stability after grinding through their 20s. SWIM fits that perfectly to me; it's not just about swimming through industry struggles, it's about wanting the same things any person in their 30s quietly wants. Also, 100% recommend checking out the Album Studio Notes on YT and RM's Weverse live; he breaks down the creative process and themes beautifully, recontextualizing the whole album. And yes, every member shines individually, but you never lose the sense of the whole. That's the BTS thing. You can zoom in on a single voice and get completely pulled in, or step back and hear it as a unified sound. SWIM does that better than most, and the fact that it's entirely in English plays no small part in that. It opens the door wide for locals and non-KPop listeners to just fall into it without any barrier, which is a smart move for a title track. Ryan Tedder's fingerprints on this are so clear too; that signature emotional scale, the anthemic build- but what makes it work is that it never overrides BTS's own thematic depth and vocal identity. It feels like a genuine collaboration rather than a production takeover. And can we talk about how it dragged the 2000s synth-pop sound back in full force? Not as nostalgia bait but as something that actually feels current and intentional. That era is back, and SWIM is proof it never really left. Glad the Swimming Pool clip delivered the chaos energy 😄 Butter Hotter Remix remains iconic for a reason, so does Blood, Sweat, & Tears plus Spinebreaker.

"They are the vibrators!" will never be separated from my understanding of this song.

I saw somewhere that 'Swim' is an ARMY song (the way '0801' is a STAY song). The girl is a representative of ARMY & it being about how they see ARMY who may be struggling & just wanting to be there for them. I don't know if it's my favorite style BTS has done (as example 'Lights' & 'Life Goes On' are 2 personal favorites of mine), but it's really catchy. Also you need to understand that my favorite genre is historical fiction. Western, Meiji Era, Middle Ages, 1920s, anything anywhere anytime. Especially, I'm a HUGE Age of Sail fan (Horatio Hornblower, PotC, the original & best pirate which is Errol Flynn's Captain Blood 1935, Alan Lewrie series, True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle, Treasure Island, Goonies, Captains Courageous, etc.) so I instantly fell in love with & ADORE the MV. I do have it in my (mostly) Kpop playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLU4ffMNxgZYUiExAblWkPJzyDREUspqT4 P.S. - actually, Home Free (who is one of my favorite groups of all time & my personal ultimate dream collab for Stray Kids) just released an Anniversary Mix version of their Sea Shanty Medley (rec both versions). This comes right after their latest album 'Challenge the Sea' which is sea shanties. If you want to check that out on your own time for some fun Sailing themed great music. Along with other artists as it's my Sea Shanties/Music Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLU4ffMNxgZYXn6KhRRRhDcXS-cyG2flHU

Namjoon recently did a live where he talked through each of the songs on the album. I'm paraphrasing here as he is very well spoken and has a lot to say about it. He said Swim became the title track because it was the most radio friendly, had longevity etc. He said people might find it underwhelming but it means a lot to him, lyrically and emotionally. It could be a love song or it could be about life, he wanted it to be open to interpretation. You are correct that it has sadness to it and that it's not meant to be a fan song specifically. He talked about during the military feeling like he was just swimming forward one day at a time. He worked on the lyrics for a long time and hopes people pay more attention to the album lyrics. Disappointing that a lot of people were downplaying the track for you! I think when it came out people were surprised at how low key it is, but it's good!

once you guys finish the album, i’d highly recommend reacting to rm’s recent weverse live, its titled “hihi” and he goes through every track on the album, what the songs mean, how they chose it, etc. he does these for almost every album release and think it’ll give a lot of insight into what each song means to the members. he talks about swim being a sad song and a message to the members themselves basically. especially since you guys are korean, you would also understand more of the nuance in what he’s saying compared to the translations fans got from x or weverse haha.

Lina

If you watch the Netflix docu, it also shows how stressed they were about finding a title track for this big Comeback.

Yes react to RM’s live where he talks about each song.
