Mountain Devil (Patreon)

The legs start to get away until an ululating cry echoes through the wood. A moment passes as something enormous slams into the clearing, its massive claws easily catching the escaping legs.

For their part, the legs drop your friend, choosing instead to fight this new target. Without breaking stride, you scoop up your comrade, bellowing for your party to run past. The pack of legs suddenly becoming uninterested in you.

For a moment, you look back to see your unlikely saviour. The enormous mass of wings and fur swipes out at the legs, catching a few in its grasp. A 3-fold jaw opening to devour them easily. You mutter a curse under your breath as you look for a place to hide and regroup.
