In the warehouse for this SF GRV on a PCC in TNP! Here I do an add-on review to my original CMMG MKG Guard 9mm PCC review: https://youtu.be/AHqDJV1ELNk. That gun tested very well and I almost bought it. But here things change a bit. For one I stupidly got it in .45 ACP making it expensive to shoot. Then there was another big downside that turned me off. It still features an innovative radial bolt carrier group that's ready to adapt to more powerful rounds; it's not a simple blowback. This is innovative and somewhat special but does it really justify the astronomical price? I’ll talk about this, show you the results of desert testing, and show you some super cool non-gun stuff to expand your horizons.

Gold Plated? CMMG Resolute .45 PCC

Although I like 45ACP , you are absolutely right about price. It’s extremely expensive to shoot and most people will not shoot it any meaningful amount. For the weight and size it’s hard to want a 16” barrel PCC in any caliber. That knife is awesome!

CMMG Rant: Man, they have been annoying me lately. I bought their Mutant years ago when I had disposable income (LOL) which runs great for me and I love it. However, with uncertainty looming in the future I have been on a quest to get replacement parts for my main weapon systems... CMMG has a poor selection of parts for what was their flagship weapon. Also, their customer service is LACKING. For how much I paid for their gun, even 8 years ago it was still 1,200 bucks... I would have expected a much greater appreciation from the company that I was coming back to them to spend even more money on their product. They blew me off and seem to have a "too good for you peasant" mentality. I wouldn't buy another of their products based on that alone. Anyway, ok that rant felt good, thank you lol.

Mattimus

Damn, this posted early in the AM ;)

Bringing out the excellent PSA before showing us a gun the exact opposite in terms of value and practicality is what makes me a lifer here. Thanks for the review!

I fell in love with the idea of a 10mm PCC 15 years ago when I first really started getting into the gun hobby. Back then I was making way more money than my cost of living and could justify the cost of the ammo (which was much less expensive at the time). I stocked up on ~2000 rounds of various brands and loads, and bought a G20, a G40, and a MechTech conversion unit - and for about 10 years I enjoyed my time with them. I've learned a ton since then, and while I still have 300 rounds or so of my original stash I've essentially retired the MechTech and the Glocks rarely come along to range days. I still fantasize about a 10mm PCC occasionally, but I'm with you Nutn. [immediately goes to order more 5.7x28]

Matthew Sinn

Yeah the weight and size topic is a big one for my changed opinions on PCCs. When I can get a sub 7lb Ruger SFAR there's no way I could justify a rifle the same size and weight in a pistol cartridge. Not to mention PCCs tend to be even heavier due to the physics of blowback.

John Dean

I agree Matthew. I used to be really into them. As a true sub gun in full auto they can make sense. They have value but it’s fairly limited.

kawicheater

Had a Bestec Goodboy come apart on me in the first hour. The button lock popped through the side. Neither the button nor the blade had a shelf to stop the button from trying to escape. Had to return it. So wanted to like that knife.

Phillip Robinette McKracken

Another pink or purple colored knife? People are starting to talk. Maybe it's a diver thing.

Chris Kales

Nice watch and Komatsu, Nutn!

Racing Psychosis

If there is one thing that I'm over, its semiauto 9mm PCCs. In something like this a AR pistol version would be more useful reserved for compactness and close up. Want good PCCs stick to lever action carbines, in 357, 44 mag, 45LC. On a side note, my uncle restores vintage semi-tractors and bull dozers, ever the old ones still work.

BadgerTails

LOL! I found a cherry USG FN 5.7 just after their latest version came out. THAT feather weight is addictive, + 30 rd mags?! I had a couple of the S&W 1076s, awesome platforms. The kel-tec Sub2K for Glock mags is just fine for a truly compact PCC. Have a great day!

So CCMG marketing must have listened to The Beach Boys “No go show boat” song.

a 10mm PCC what stuff- as Nutn tested 90% of the 10mm on the market give you 40 S&W performance and the expense

David Elkins

With the advent of 300 Blk and (for now legal) pistol braces, I just couldn’t choose a PCC unless I already had a million rounds of pistol caliber and didn’t want to buy any other ammo.

Brad Morin

The only time I’ve felt tempted to go down the 10 mm route was when high point release their carbine in 10mm but even then it wasn’t enough to get me to pull the trigger on it.

Hold Fast Joe

Nice review, shocked it costs so much. I would've been surprised to see better groups with 45 at 100. It's just not a sharp shooter caliber. Big heavy rounds and not huge velocities. I'm not a big pcc fan. I would rather have a 223 pistol of that size than 45 or even 9

Tygre

Speaking of guys shooting .22 because of price, have you ever reviewed the CMMG AR .22 conversion kit?

Joshua S

If I had the Komatsu, I would probably be outside somewhere monkeying around with it instead of watching a video about .45ACP PCC until the end where Nutn would ask for me to hand over my most favored machine! XD. But yeah, my wishlist is under too many psi to squeeze in a PCC.

Steve Feeser

Thanks for the review. I love 45 auto. I own several and reload for them. I use mostly lead bullets- they work great and are a lot cheaper than jacketed. No. They don’t lead. At all. Trust me. I’ve shot over 10000 of them. I really should but an old Marlin Camp Carbine in 45. It would team great with my 1911s. This thing is way too expensive. What are they thinking????? Keep up the good work!

John

I really wanted one of these for quite some time, but they were just too pricey. Got an Aero EPC-9 instead, but it was very finicky. Sold that, and now I’m building a proper AR rifle chambered in 300 BLK.

John

My thoughts exactly. Unfortunately, I had to buy and then sell a PCC to come to that conclusion.

Michael Gere

Thanks for the review. This isn’t a rifle that I would consider buying, but I always enjoy your honest opinion.

Hold Fast Joe

I've seen a few of these at apple seed events. They're OK but meh. It's a lot better to just get an actual 22. If you want an ar platform 22 try the tipman or the one by smith wesson. For deadly accuracy though you'll need a bolt action 22. The tikka is excellent, bergera 22 is absolutely wonderful if you got the money (2x price of tikka) Good luck

TNSheep

CMMG for the win.

Aquanaut

I really don't get the draw of a semi-auto pistol carbine. I could understand a full auto. Who wouldn't want that?

shotgunjimmy

Thanks for the review! I'm looking for a 45acp AR platform rifle.I keep waiting for you to give a good review on one.

DudeDudeDude

I am down for 45 acp as long as it is compatible with lead bullets. I can load ammo with cast bullets for roughly the same price as 9mm FMJ. I agree with the comments about 10mm. I load for that too and again with lead bullets it can be economical to load for except for the brass. 9mm, 40, and 45 brass is available once fired in bulk so if you lose some it is no big deal. 10mm brass has to be purchased new so you got to police your brass. I admit that I do not have as much fun shooting nor do I shoot as well when I have to pay attention to where my valuable brass is going.

Foghorn

I know I'll get flamed for this... Get a Highpoint in 45 (Or 10mm they have it) for $400 Sounds like the similar weight, their carbines go bang... 1/3 the price and use it for ammo... Like the looks of the CMMG products but price always kept me away.. More happy with my Henry X in 45LC... (Expensive but yes I do reload it) Its a real sweetheart to shoot. LOL!! I've got one of those chest rigs!!! Got it for Christmas...

Tacticaldoodle

Even hi-points have some valid POUs, man
