Believe it or not, this is a touchstone gun for our family. Dial into this feature length GRV and I'll tell why the Star BK and BKM series of pistols were way ahead of their time, how Dad carried it, and how it still is a viable combat pistol! A lot of never seen before Nutnfancy family photos make their way into this GRV also.

Is this the one you said you needed to fix? The last video you made about your dad’s carry gun reminded me of my granddad’s little 25 auto that my dad and I shot a few years ago before the firing pin broke. I can totally relate to both videos. One day I hope my dad can fix that little gun.

Fun video. I always enjoy the family history.

2026-09-15 18:00 This is my first time hearing about your brother. Very sad to hear it, man. I lost my older sister a few years back, and it was tough.

I just got a Warrior 3S High Beam light.

What a sweet pistola! And that weight is great! Too bad current commander size 9mm alloy frame 1911 aren't that light, at least none that I have seen...

Great vid, Nutn’! I appreciate how you represent priceless memories and the legacy of family. You can tell the year of your BM (that just sounds wrong lol!) by looking at the front right side of the trigger guard. My buddy has one from 75, and that marking represents the year it was contracted and put into inventory with the Guardia Civil. Great stuff, thank you!

I wanted a Star in 45 back in the late 80s. It was cheaper than a colt lightweight commander and similar in size and weight. Nutnfancy you should test a lightweight commander. They are much lighter than a steel frame and quite shootable. I’ve been carrying a Kimber Pro Carry for twenty years. Great size and weight for a45 1911. You need to try the aluminum frame 1911s!

Love the vid Nutn. Yes, long time TNPr here and I grabbed a BM from J&G like you when they were cheap. I love it. Thanks again.

The Nutnfancy Project

Late where ya' been, good to hear from you. No worries on my brother, sad things happen and we press on. I hope you're well.

The Nutnfancy Project

Good point and I wish I had mentioned that in the review. Great to hear from you Matt, thanks kindly for your support here.

The Nutnfancy Project

Woh, glad to hear that Matthew. They were selling these things for so cheap. Such great guns for the money.

The Nutnfancy Project

Chinada indeed. So angering what has happened there. Coming to us soon enough too.

Life changed for left-handed me when I called Armand Swenson and got an ambi safety for my Colt government model. Might have had a BKM if I could have found an ambi for it. The Firestorm is cute, ambi, but sooooo heavy with that steel frame. The Llama miniature .380s are really cute.

Rusty Chains

In the mid eighties I owned a Star PD .45 and foolishly sold it. That was one of the best carry guns I ever had since it would feed hollow points without issue and only weighed about 25 ounces.

Mobius 1

I got a Star BM around 2017 for $200 on ClassicFirearms.com. Also you can tell when your gun was made by looking at the number on the trigger guard.

Really like this review. I am a fan of old school stuff over most brand new offerings and it is nice to see reviews on the older stuff.

Does anyone else think there is some suppressed trauma from when nutn and his brother found the adult toy stash?
