The best days of TNP are still ahead...like this! I'm back in the wilderness, this time on the KTM 890 on a desert mountain camping trip. I'm here also to review of this xlnt tent. A short POU reminder discussion ensues and I let you know if TNF Trail Lite 3 is good for base camping. Then specifics follow and I'll tie into my past tent reviews here in TNP. All in all the TNF Trail Lite 3 is an amazing tent with outstanding ventilation, quality, lightweight, strength, roominess, and wind/rain shedding fly. All at a great price. Get it while you esp. since it was on sale when I posted this review...it pays to follow the content!

Awesome! I miss the camping gear/clothing reviews and philosophy videos. I learned so much from them. My camping loadout still has a lot of those items in it. Like the Optimus crux lite and the GSI Ketalist. I'd love to see some Backpacking Jacket reviews.

Josiah Pierce

awesome! keep ripping out the camping content!

Nut n in the tent. ⛺️ rated pg.

Derek W Tiller

Nothing better than watching Nut'n pitch a tent! 😁

Downtrodden

Nailed it. Hit all the points in what I look for in a tent. I usually camp off my motorcycle. I have a 1 man tent for my enduro bike system but that’s claustrophobic. 2-3 man is ideal. Vestibule is necessary for stinky boot storage. I like to carry a Kelty Noah tarp in addition to any system.

JoMama

I don’t own a tent, but after your review I feel the need to buy one! A lot of great info/tent talk. Thanks for another great review!

Gilbert Cuzdey Jr

Nice, Ive been using an academy tent for years. It's time for an upgrade.

Aquanaut

Why would they not make the tub from one continual piece? Looks like a guaranteed failure point.

JFire

Keep the camping gear coming! I’m in the market for good gear to take my family camping starting this year. Thanks!

Murphy

Keep em coming Nutn. Always love your camping/backpacking gear reviews!

Rob Miller

The problem with Kelty is they last so long I can’t get the newest gear. I still have a 3 man from the early 90’s going strong. A million nights on the ground. 2 cub scouts to eagle scouts = 50 nights easy, plus many hunting and fishing and backpacking trips in my 20’s. I am 57 now!

The Nutnfancy Project

I get you but I rarely see that. If it's stitched well and taped it will do well for about 10 years. Then the tape loosens and you'll have to seam seal yourself.

The Nutnfancy Project

Roger that. I ordered that Kelty Wireless 6 Person Family/Car Camping Tent and will review it asap for you. Comes in either 4 or 6 person. I sought a good camping tent out and Kelty has a great reputation with me.

The Nutnfancy Project

Agree Rob, that is their downside ha ha. Hard to spend money if it's still working.

Hold Fast Joe

That was neat, i learned quite a bit thanks!

J Ram

Love them, hope to see your review of the Kelty car camp 6 person tent soon...(I'm in the market). Re this tent, I use a similar version from Marmot Tungsten 3 for backpacking and it's just big enough for me and my gear and to not feel cramped. Interestingly enough, it actually is a little too warm for June - Aug in IN so no worries about it being 3 seasons (to your point on the Trail Lite)

Chris Kales

Thanks for the review, Nutn. That's a really nice basic tent. Might have to pick one up. Definitely love the color!

Aquanaut

So they want us to buy a new one every ten years. Lol

Kinoons

I agree with the notion of getting a bigger tent if you’re not backpacking. However, for two or three people that one looks pretty good.

Zack Harris

Yes, Get out n get it done! Good review n keep the adventures coming Nutn… A good competitive option is the slumberjack day break series, come in a light weight 2person w/ nice vestibule n perfect green color. Several years use n no issues. Fyi

Casey Jones

I’m surprised you reviewed a tent by such an anti-gun company. I’m sure they make good such but won’t be buying it. Every dollar is a vote.

Michael B warner

Awesome tent I have a Kelty grand mesa 3 in od and tan. That has been my moto camping tent for the past few years.

matt

AWESOME tent. Great review. Love the outdoor stuff. Long time donor

Thanks for the wilderness inspiration!!

Nathan Simms aka Darkpriest

Seriously thank you for doing this. I am going to be hiking up a mountain with a friend this year and this is probably the tent we will take.

Bluegill097

Man, I need to get back into backpacking/hiking again.

Pfas free.. count me in that shit is litrally poisioning us off the planet. Its so persistent it is in the rain now, nowhere on earth has rain water that doesnt mesure as so toxic it is unfit for human consumption. The eco POS are worried about carbon dioxide.. meanwhile PFAS are such a threat the EPA and every other world gov enviromental agency are completly banning their use because they realize that if we keep using them another decade you will need to filter every drop of water we drink.. or even use for washing. They are being blamed for the sperm count of men dropping below 50% of what they were 10 years ago... remeber the BPA scandle in water bottles... acts like estrogen in animals., blamed for hormonal problems in kids ( girls having their first period at as low as age 4 and boys not going through puberty properly and being very effeminate) .. 1 of thousands of chemicals in the PFAS family that does that... used in the varnish in every can of food or pop can, the hash brown wrapers at mc dicks... , all to save a couple bucks over using quility materials. My weld jackets went from being quility natrual materials that were natrually fire proof, to the cheapest thinest cotton being soaked in PFAS fire retardant... wash them once and my fire proof jacket is junk, every spark that lands on them you can smell the chemicals cooking... i litrally cant buy anything else anymore because the powers that be mandated FR tags in industry which means chemical soaked crap.

Joey

I love this content!

Nut'n, I've been watching you from the start and can't tell you how much I miss these gear vids! I hope they're well received, I'd love to see them often...many thanks for this!!!

Brandon Hutchins

I bought the Kelty you recommended for backpacking and love it!

Nita

Thanks so much for this review! I had watched your tent reviews from long ago and remember you mentioning using more mesh even in colder weather. I'm all ears on any tent, camping gear, and just wise advice from experiences you have. I'm a beginning level, but working on intermediate skills camper. I live in Texas and so far been spring and " winter" camping. Planning to go again this November northern part of the state where will get cold enough to test winter gear. Been doing state parks with electric and water- not done primitive yet. Interestingly, I was just checking the posts here to see if you had a review of any current tents! For the price, I wouldn't mind having one of these, and I like the light beige color too. For state park camping where I can bring more stuff ( still working out true needs versus weight and space!) , I'm veering towards 6 person tent- although I'm short, anything smaller have to stoop/ can't stand up in. So..pardon my wordiness, but brings me to my question for you and/ or the other patrons input. I'm looking at the Cabelas Getaway 6 person Dome tent which I see is now on sale for $139.00. Can't tell much detail from web site and can't find recent video reviews. Also looking at (Cabelas) Bass Pro Shops 6-Person Dome Tent with Screen Porch for $129 reg cost.. Ideally like to stay $250 or less for now.
