Sean and I are working hard in this drill. We have a pillbox we are assaulting, previously done with M1 Grand and others guns with mixed success. This round has the SFAR and the CZ P10F go into acton. I'll show what happens in this extended testing session. I will also insert Sean's experience with the same problem.

Why I Don't Trust the Ruger SFAR Anymore (Desert Drill)

Already bought one from your reccomendation , ironic

Todd Strelka

It's nice to see the run and gun alive and well in TNP. Too bad the Ruger choked.

Justin Wingerter

So glad to see this video, I think you mentioned in the original that you would make a follow up due to its questionable reliability. Good thing I never bought one, this video confirms!

Donald Adriano O'Keefe

1x8 with ACSS Reticle is a Solid optic choice for 12.5"-16" Ar-10 any tube longer than 16 I would recommend 6.5-20x50mm BDC with dope sheet

Colostomybag

I plan on getting an ar-10 at some point. This one was a contender. Probably gonna get a 716i but this design is still really great. Hopefully they continue and improve. No one makes one this light without a pencil barrel.

Matthew Sinn

I'll continue to trust mine unless/until I start seeing failures. Several hundred rounds so far with and without a can, and with mixed ammo. Good to have the data points.

JFire

Another great video of Nutn playing war…final countdown style!

Mattimus

I Miss these old-school nutn run & gun videos! It amazes me how many of my shooting “buddies” are too worried about what people think of them to do anything other than bench rest shooting… won’t even wear chest rigs..

matt

Nice video. Glad to see the run n gun. Nice comparison with older and modern guns. I was going to get one of rugers. Before I did I went back to watch the orignal video. Glad I saw a note on there about the change in recommend. Was the gun you had an early production model?. You guys Crack me up. Luv it

Curse of the Desert strikes again

R8379

I was actually thinking about this exact rifle. it’s really too bad. Thank you for saving me the money.

R8379

If it works for you, keep it, this could be one lemon. For me I’m not going to take the chance with my hard earned dollar.

Brian Carter

That's a bummer. I've been thinking about getting a PSA AR-10 when I get out of CA. Do the PSA AR-10's still hold up well as a value option for 308? It's been a few years since the original review.

Rick Grad

Gen 3 PSA AR10 has been really reliable for me as well. I don’t shoot in the desert, but I have about 800-900 rounds through mine with a bunch of loads, no problems.

BadgerTails

#MAGALOVE # 24 for the reality: sometimes lighting sucks, but do we? The stuck cases with factory Fed loads is REALLY concerning. 2 legged hiding or 4 legged creatures feeding at sunset, can I see it as friend/foe, buck or doe? Great works guys!

The Nutnfancy Project

This is sad, those are the types you will not be able to count on if you get me

The Nutnfancy Project

Could be an early build. But these jams are bad: brass ammo hard stuck in the chamber, cases sometimes ripped off. I might revisit the SFAR but it's a non rec for now. I bought a POF Rogue.

The Nutnfancy Project

You bet. I am thinking about nuking my rec review video, what do you think? I do have a note posted last year on it warning dudes.

The Nutnfancy Project

There you have it, another satisfied customer. I'll some take some xtra weight to get the reliaiblity.

Nate Berglund

Oh yeah, I want to see you run the PA-10 in this drill! I finally got into the AR10 game and picked up a PA-10 based on your recommendation. I have about 100 rounds through it so far and I'm loving it! Got it for $780 during their labor day sale. First thing I did was pitch the rubber overmold grip and installed a magpul k2 plus.

Mattimus

What’s worse is so many private “gun ranges” have sooo many safety rules cannot effectively train skills. Fudds everywhere..

Hold Fast Joe

Bench rest is fun, but 3 position shows you who can actually get it done! I enjoy it all but yes i think you are right. 99% of the bench rest crew won't even try. Tried to get an olympic standing rifle day going.. 2 of the 32 bench rest showed up, 1 of them was me lol

Seeker Keyl

Built a roll-your-own ar10 while back. Sometimes strips rims off of brass cases, similar to what was seen here. The comment above about Ruger replacing the bcg is interesting. I have a spare aero bcg I never considered trying. Perhaps now I will!

Michael B warner

Thanks for the update Nutn I've been waiting for this one.

matt

Maybe I save up dome more money and get the POF. I have a renegade plus and love that gun. I also have a S W ar10 sport. It has a 16 inch barrel that runs great too.

Fat Man Tactical

When I was shopping for AR-10's I wanted the SFAR but I seen others having reliability issues so I went with PA-10. I have around 500 rounds through it and a brutality match covered in WV mud and no stoppages.

Hey Rapha

Can this be fixed if the chamber gets honed by a gunsmith?

Ben horton

I am sure this issue has since been addressed. Same as all of Sigs products that come out broken, 18 months later they are great.

Ben horton

I doubt it is an issue on the new ones. Even if it is, just make Ruger fix it. They have great customer service. Seems like a poorly designed light weight extractor

Ben horton

I love Ruger, but $780!! I gotta check that out. Wait for the next holiday or something lol.

Ben horton

Guess my biggest question Nutn is why don’t you send it back to Ruger? You have given a lot of new guns second chances on this channel? Could this be the same thing as many firearms, where it gets fixed in later models, they just don’t talk about it.

Nate Berglund

Yeah I couldn't pass it up lol. 18" stainless barrel with Magpul STR stock included. It was a great deal.

Matthew Sinn

In recent years Nutn has been pretty vocal in videos about "if it isn't 100% out of the box it's not worth my time". Which is fair enough - he's not dealing with a small collection, he's testing for review. That process is time, cost, and effort he could be spending on other content. Most users like you or I would see what the mothership could do at least once, and not abandon a platform based on a sample size of one. I personally have a fairly high tolerance for doing so as an unashamed fan of KelTec. If I had an issue like this pop up with my SFAR, I'd send it in to Ruger to fix. I haven't had to yet.

Nick Clements

Nutn! I’ll be the third person spotter. Just let me know! Great content and info. I’ve been eyeing an SFAR but decided it has too many proprietary parts so I built an AR10.

Ben horton

I agree. I was more speaking to the sig cross and p365 got passes because they were revolutionary designs and he trusted sig to get them right. Well this gun is the same thing, revolutionary at the price and weight, they screwed up on their outsourced extractor. Seems like this is something that may already be fixed or will be soon. To write off a gun that changed the market seems unnecessary IMO.

Aaron Carrington

Hey Nutn, can you review the Anderson AM10 .308 rifle if Gunnies, “The Great American Gun Store” gets one in stock?

Joshua Lund

Been wanting an SFAR , just can’t pull the trigger until bugs are worked out

david rockwell

The video aptly provides impetus for actual minutemen to move with gear and decisively engage. This juxtaposes sunshine patriots sitting at a keyboard admiring their polished collection(s). Gear and skills unused are unreliable. Momentum is created by pushing. Thank you for the continued effort and dedication.

BadgerTails

Query/Theory: I see Ben Stoeger is having the same issue with a Stacatto. Granted, his Stacatto had 25X rounds through it, replaced the extractor eventually, but it lead me to wonder; is this something new to a recent production factor, with brass and/or primers in the production lines today?

Aaron Walker

NOOOOOOOO!!!!!! I just bought one !!

Mobius

Would love to see the PA 10 used on this run. Can't wait to see it.

David

It seems pretty clear now after a few years that this rifle from the factory is over gassed and it needs a wider range of gas adjustments to run reliably. Also the rail clearance in relation to the gas block is cause for accuracy concerns.
