Another fun SSE by Nutnfancy. Here I will have fun with the introduction and over hyping of the newish Ruger RXM Glock 19 clone. Chances are many of you have already rushed out to buy a RXM. Why? The competition that's been out forever is just as good if not better!

No doubt competent, it nevertheless comes into the market extremely late where many many competent players have established market share. I will discuss all this and let you decide if it take over the Glock 19 clone market.

Just clicked. Saw the title and I just know this is gonna be full of sarcasm....🤣

J Ram

Maybe when they offer it in .40S&W.... 😁 Not inclined...and I say that as a Ruger "fan boy." If I wanted a Glock, I'd go out and buy one.

Rob Miller

I always wait for the Nutn review before purchase. It’s those younger whipper snappers who are the problem children.

Totally agreed. Generic 9mm handgun. I ordered a Ruger RXM, entirely out of curiosity. $345 plus S/H. I don't expect it to do anything new or different. It will definitely be popular, though, and I want first hand experience with it. Its primary competition isn't the Glock G19; I see it competitive with all of the other Glock G19 clones. I believe the RXM has a market with armed security officers, given WIDE holster and magazine availability and its reduced cost compared to a G19. These folks generally buy the cheapest handgun that meets the minimum requirements of STL's private security section at County PD; they're not buying and carrying pricey guns.

nutn what you aren't talking about is the newer glocks frankly suck. my son has gen 5's in 19 and 20, both guns have a crappy finish that is nothing like the gen 3's bomb proof finish. The other thing is both of the gen 5 triggers suck in stock form. If I am wanting another glock its going to be a used gen 3 BTW there wasn't a damn thing wrong with the f'ing finger grooves whiners be damned. To me this ruger is cool for what it can be, magpul is going to be offering new frames for these. molded in FDE, which glock seems to hate doing. plus its quite a bit cheaper than a glock. YES on the optic, went to shoot a coyote with a buddies gun. it took me precious extra time to find the dot on the gun. irons aren't as bad as people think.

STLParkRanger13 (IG: Sharpshooterjon)

Oh, speaking of: we've had two come through the 16-hour security initial arming training. 300 rounds, and on one of the pistols, the rear sight fell off. That happens, though. Usually when the security officer dicks with it.

Andrettski

Total Ruger fan boy, however, I own an LC9 for POU as a summer shorts pocket gun. And the Ruger 57. None of their 9mm poly semi-autos have jumped out and grabbed my attention. RXM, meh, I'll stick with my Caniks, Springfields and Berettas.

Nutn I think you are being overly harsh here. Ruger shows up when other manufacturers rest too highly on their laurels and charge too much for proven technology and offers an affordable high quality alternative. The Vaquero can be had for a fraction of the price of a Colt Single Action Army and the Blackhawk comes in larger calibers. The Ruger-57 is a fraction of the cost of the FN Five Seven. The SP101 offers a chunky improvement over the J frame with improved durability. I don't have any experience but I'm sure their 1911 is of comparable quality without costing an arm and a leg. The Ruger American is also a reasonably accurate magazine fed bolt action without getting into custom bottom metal. Their "innovation" comes in their mid range balance between the DIY guys with no safety net and the premium guys charging for the brand name.

Scott Dunn

Bought 4 Rugers when I first got into guns 10+ years ago. Had issues of some sort with all 4. Skeptical about the brand in general. My LCP II (traded up) is good but mags are crazy expensive.

Hoben Spalding

Glad to see a video posted on Rumble. The RMX is what it is... In regards to Glock: The company is making literal tuck loads of money. Doubt they will change anything until absolutely forced to.

The Nutnfancy Project

"Nutn I think you are being overly harsh here. Ruger shows up when other manufacturers rest too highly on their laurels and charge too much for proven technology and offers an affordable high quality alternative. " You mean just like the PSA Dagger?

Josiah Fisher

What makes this better than a dagger to me is the trigger mechanism is not a standard Glock trigger it's more of a chimney performance trigger design as where you don't have to pull back the striker when you pull the trigger

Matt Geiger

Ive put together four daggers for under $1,000. Nice too with threaded barrels etc.

Porter3861

Years ago, I had a buddy who used to say "If Glocks didn't shoot so good, all the bad things people said about them would be true." I have Glocks, XDs, a PSA Dagger, and a Shadow Systems. They all have quirks but I enjoy them all. Bottom Line: If I had to grab one, just one, pistol out of the stable for the unknown or the Zeke Apocalypse it'll be a G19. I'll show myself out.

Joshua Mount

I'm so invested in Glock amd have so many at this point and have a ton mags that are also compatible with all my PCC's. I just don't see a point in looking at other brands anymore. I have striker fired pistols from other brands P365, Shield plus, Hellcat, LCP max, ect. I still revert back to Glock. Parts compatibility, mag compatibility with other firearms, holster options, aftermarket options. It just makes thing easy and simple when layering your systems.

Nathaniel Shelton

I like Glock, Ruger, and Magpul. The RXM is the only clone that has tempted me at all. It will never replace my G19 pistols that are part of systems. I wouldn’t mind owning one, but at this point the market is so flooded I’m pretty ambivalent. Lately, whenever I think about buying a new gun, I ask myself, “Would I rather have this gun or $____ worth of ammo?” The answer is almost always ammo.

Rick Grad

The last handgun I was excited about was the Sig 365. It was painful waiting for the Nutn review of it. Bought one and it’s awesome. The last 5ish years have been boring in the handgun market.

Brad Morin

The only interesting thing about the Ruger clone is the price tag with the FCU system. It’s not the first Glock clone to do this but it may be the first to be economical.

Willie Everett

The new sight mounting option sounds better to me. I also prefer the RXM sights. The problem with the dagger is that it doesn't fit in most Glock holsters. I also think Magpul/Ruger will release several frame sizes and a pcc kit.

The Nutnfancy Project

The RXM is a hit but I still dont get the excitement for it. BTW my Dagger does fit several of my holsters. Thanks Willie.

Matthew Larson

+1 to get a PC Charger for review, Nutn! I think there are some fun POU's to explore altogether because of its size. For the RXM, I think the appeal is still the FCI in a Glock mag platform. In another light, I think it may be an important step to pushing the envelope on how gun technology continues to outpace gun control. You have the chassis and then other parts are all acquired without 4473 paperwork. I know others did it first, but one more example in the pile helps build the case of futility.

Kinoons

I have not purchased a new handgun in the better part of 7-10 years. My PPS M1 is still competent for concealed carry. Woods gun? G29. Belt/holster pistol? P229 and PPQ M1. Second cool? FN fiveseven and SBR PS90. Nothing has moved the needle enough for me to spend the money. What would I spend money on? Ruger - take a rimfire American rifle and chamber it in 5.7x28 and fit it with a rotary mag. I couldn’t spend money on that fast enough.

Carl Bailey

I happened to be in my local gun store the week this was released. Handled it. Dry fired it. And then handed it back. My impression? It is a good quality Glock clone. Better trigger, better sights and comes with an optics cut. If it was less than $350 it would be a competitor. Too bad for Ruger that PSA did this a year before at a cheaper price.

Charles davis

I would be interested to hear your opinion of the p365 fuse

Ryan Jones

Funny you say the average guy does not use the fcu feature. Then said you did. Lol. Me too. Did it to my 365 xl AND my 320. Like you, I Prefer the long slide short grip for a carry gun. Did that to both of mine. So I guess it does have merit. 23 grip on a 19 slide is also one I put together from a couple glocks. That may be easier to do now with this pistol option. You are spot on here BTW on everything else. Couldn't agree more. 👏

R8379

I share your view, I don’t see the need for this gun. Now this probably has to do with my own biases and personal build. However, I tend to love guns that are thinner due to having a smaller hand size. Also trigger reach is a big issue for me. Think Glock 48/43X. Weirdly enough if a gun is designed correctly, like the Taurus G3, I dig it. I guess I just don’t like Glock brick perfection, the first time picked up a G 19 at the store it was, hell no. Therefore, for this gun for me, it’s a solid, no. However, I am a Ruger fan, I own the LCP max and security 380, are very similar to each other. Sometimes little features are necessary and actually a huge improvement. I am a massive fan of the safety that cannot be engaged during fire, that’s a wonderful feature, for me. I am still looking forward to the review though. I am also looking forward to a Ruger 43X clone. Thanks Nutn.

R8379

I do think Ruger needs credit for showing up and giving a copycat design with a few innovative features at reasonable prices with quality. Same thing with Taurus.

R8379

First gun I got was a Glock 48. The problem I found with that, is that the trigger sites and grip all needed work, not to mention the capacity. By the time you’re done you double the price of the gun. It’s the reason I don’t own another Glock. Not a fan of guns that don’t fix any of their own flaws in later models. Every other gun manufacture out there tries to give the market what they want, with the exception of Glock.

R8379

I do have to say, once fixed, it is a deadly accurate fast gun that you can empty a magazine at 10 yards into a fist size target quickly.

R8379

I’ve heard that the PSA dagger has some accuracy issues. I would be curious if the Ruger is deadly accurate in the right hands. If so, then it could definitely be a competitor. I say this is someone who is not in the target market, as my hand size are too small For G19 bricks. I definitely think they could sell a lot. It just depends on what they did.

Matt Geiger

My dagger shoots great, I've even put my glock 19 barrel in one of them and the accuracy pretty much the same. But the treaded barrel version adds around 50 to 75 fps so I use that the most

Ian

when they make a pdw frame like they have for the 320/365, for half the price. that's gonna get a few of us for sure.

Chris Fischer

I'm hearing that the optics mounting system is way better than that glock design. Recoil lugs vs 2 screws

Lynn E Fite, Col (r)

Arace ready Ruger😆. Ruger’s history on 9mm semi market share is spotty. They looked at the fads/trends: gotta use Glock mags, be optics ready with new mounting, and have a FUC, accept different lowers ( reminds us of the trend for switchable back straps), and be any color other than black. Design team please make it look “smoking” hot race ready. I’ll stay with my Glocks. It is a wonderful alternative

RafterW

I carry a 43x with a shield mag 15+1 capacity. Seems like it's pretty much the same thing, yeah?

Tacticaldoodle

It's weird how the marketing machine of magpul pretends it's still 2014, like they're riding the high of non-stop hit products. In reality they've shifted to a fashion brand

+1 vote for review of the Ruger PC Charger.

Ben Wagner

The simple truth is Ruger’s semi-auto handguns for the past decade+ haven’t made much of a dent in the market. This is an attempt to retain some market share by tapping into the established Glock market.

Tim Adams

Messes with one at my LGS. Trigger is chit. I'd rather have a real glock trigger.

DC

Just watched the your video and as always, I appreciate the sarcasm and high level view of where something fits in the market and what impact it may have. I shot one last week for the first time (my friend won one at an event). I agree that there is nothing groundbreaking here, but it was very nice to shoot. I am a Glock fan, but the Ruger ergos are better and the grip module seems more solid than the Shadow Systems. Given your wealth of experience with Glocks and the knockoffs, clones etc. I think it would be interesting for you to get one to provide a comparative analysis to the others handguns in this category. As you would say, another data point…if you decide to go down the RXM rabbit hole let me know and I will put $100 towards it. Thanks for all you do.

GrimReaper4456

Plenty of other established models like PSA Dagger, Kiger, you name it. Ruger is a trusted name teaming up with another trusted name - Magpul. Nobody else (to my knowledge) can make this claim. I bought it and find it to be pretty much awesome…as a non-Glock guy as well. Looks great, shoots great, will have an industry behind it for accessories. I’ve just never been able to reconcile the prices on Glocks, regardless of how objectively reliable and squared away they are. But sub $400 for a clone with companies like Ruger and Magpul? Sounds good to me.
