Another touchstone Nutnfancy and TD gun review. YouTube deleted my SSE on the PSA Jakl but you can find it here: https://rumble.com/v6a95wy-psa-jakl-fn-scar-destroyer-sse.html. Join my Rumble feed while you're there.

Patrons and viewers showed high interest in the Jakl series so I used donation dollars to score one, test it well. I did this quickly for you, lots of work and time spent. This is the entertaining and informative result. Time will pass by quickly in this entertaining review. We will also talk about PSA concept guns, weighing in. PSA is to be commended.

Not gonna lie ive really been looking into these guns. Especially since they dropped it in a 308 pistol. Great review Nutn, glad to hear your opinions on it.

TC

Voted Jakl late - two minutes later, Jakl video posts. Love it! Nutin delivers.

Bill The Broken

Looking forward to watching this one. The gun tuber needs on youtube are divided. Seems like those who get paid by psa just love it - those who don't have the manufacturer relatio ship hate it. Look forward to your independent review.

Blizzak454

I literally live like 5 min from PSA here in SC, I know #blessed! 🤣

matt

Great review as always. Nice having TD there. Love the jacket nutn. I have the same one

David Elkins

So on the prior Jakl video thread I mentioned some warranty issues on my 300Blk Jakl “pistol” I sent it back for (primarily light primer strikes) I sent it back (PSA provided shipping label) and within about 3 days of them receiving it I got this notice from them via email. “Upon arrival of customer's JAKL, we inspected and found that customer had an old revision bolt carrier group assembly which was also out of spec and causing light primer strike issues, and that the recoil base was not installed with loc-tite, allowing the recoil base to unscrew itself from the recoil guide rod. Re-installed recoil base to recoil rod with loc-tite. Replaced customer's out of spec, old revision bolt carrier group assembly with new bolt carrier group assembly. Test fired 60rnds, cycling through the gas settings to ensure JAKL was functioning and cycling properly, shot 3rnds on each setting and the rest of the rounds on setting 4 (1 being the most closed position, and 6 being the most open). Had no issues with feeding, firing, extracting, or ejecting rounds.” Got it back a few days later. After getting it back I put my red dot, muzzle brake and other accessories back in. After going to range to re-zero and function test it has operated flawlessly. Their customer service was a lot better and faster than I had even hoped for. So while I did have an issue with mine, it was resolved very quickly and the Jakl is a recommend for me now.

I'm generally unconvinced with braced AR Pistols, but if you want something that short without needing to paying for an SBR you're having to decide whether a braced Pistol or a bullpup is a best compromise set for you. That braced looks like it has a lot of flex. Impressed by the accuracy all things considered.

Deon Lee

You know you can get the strike industries or bcm 87 degree vertical grip for it. Since a vertical grip is defined as a 90 degree angle. I just put the slight angle forward. I mean I don’t have a jakl yet but I have them on several ar15’s. But I actually just put that same exact 10.5” fde 5.56 jakl same brace and all on lay away at my local pawnshop that’s a psa rep. Should have her paid off in the next 2-3 weeks.

Ian

I agree, the full size did nothing for me, the pistol was the obvious choice.

Rick Grad

I went with a BCM 11.5” complete factory upper, basic lower with a quality trigger, braided buffer spring T-2 buffer. I think the whole pistol cost $1,100. It’s super light weight, shoots real smooth with the dialed in buffer system. It’s zeroed for IMI 77g, but the range ammo I mostly shoot out of it is not that far off the zero. It’s been a dream to own, hard for me to go away from that.

Matthew Sinn

If they make an 8.6 BLK version at some point in the future I'll be enticed. Small caliber, no.

David Elkins

Yes, chose this same “pistol” in 300 BLK. POU was for a truck gun AND a piston gun I could suppress. 300 hits with more punch and has better barrier penetration qualities. And for truck gun use I think engagement ranges will most likely be CQBish. Can I chose is from Griffin and fits on A2 flash hider so I can swap my can between this and my other ARs (only have one of those with a properly timed flash hider thus far but the others will be done as well. On that note, the A2 o got with my Jakl was (just barely) too beefy at the lugs to mount the suppressor. So I had to swap it out for the Griffin brake that came with my .30 cal can. Looking forward to running some sub sonic 300s through it and seeing how point of impact varies. With the can on my super sonic loads are actually a couple inches higher at 25 yards than without the can. I have to verify zero and points of impact for all of the above at 100 yards still. Time to buy more ammo. And on the 300 blk ammo note, Lehigh Defense has some great predator stopping power and the AAC I’ve shot has been great. All super sonic thus far.

Aquanaut

I live in the PNW. The commies won't recognize our 2A rights to own such things here. The west coast is lost I'm afraid.

Seeker Keyl

The weight was my main issue with the gen 1 jakl. The lack of barrel exchangability was another (albeit related) knock. Both of those issues seem to be addressed in the gen 2 which I MAY BE quite interested in depending on to what degree those issues will indeed be addressed. That said, I'm surprised that the gen 1 was liked as much as it was here. And good accuracy !! Thanks nutn!

Bluegill097

Thanks for the timely review Nutn! I was really looking hard at this in, yes like you said, 300 black. BUT I already have a shorty 300 blk pistol with a folder… can’t justify another…. Yet. lol PSA also has a ton of stuff in the hopper I want to be saving up for. Also I want a roller delayed PCC at some point (AP5?). So like doodle said, at the price I think I’m gonna hold on to my funds and take a pass even though it’s sweet.

Notes From The Bunker

I found the stocks on the JAKL to have way too much flex. After SBR'ing, I added a JMAC triangle folder to one of my JAKLs, and a Midewest Industries AR-180-style stock toanother. That AR-180 stock, if you can find it, is absolutely the way to go. Also added a VFG 'cause that handguard will heat up on you. Other than that, its a fine gun. The only other thing that would fit the same design/features in that small an envelope would be a BRN-180 pistol, which is also a great gun.

Tacticaldoodle

In the end I came away torn: I detest lazy machining, when companies are stingy with CNC hours. It leads to more weight and it just looks cheesier to the eye. But for a mounted truck blaster they have some excuse for it, although the price is too much for this V1.

Tacticaldoodle

BUT, the JAKL has good bones, and I think the V3 and V4 will knock this thing into alignment with my vision. V2 obviously started in the direction of more specialization, lighter weight, and in the end I see this family one day becoming exactly what we once hoped the ACR would. Magnesum lower, sculpted upper? Nice.

Tacticaldoodle

Sometimes I think there's truth to that "hard weather makes for a hard people" but then I go to the UP and find it full of calilibs and foreign city slickers, so maybe it only accounts for like, forty percent of the libtardation, because even the shitty weather spots are rife with it

Casey Jones

Sweet looking gun. I don’t really have a case use for it. But I love PSA, I’ve had great luck with all the AR’s I’ve bought from them. Hope PSA sells a bunch of these.

Silas Porter

WOW! Another overweight, proprietary parts ecosystem PMAG adapter. I'll take 2! At this point my brain is so oversaturated with tactical stuff it's making me a bit sinister toward the industry. I need some blued steel and walnut ASAP. A model 70 or a 1886 Winchester or perhaps Smith and Wesson's new classic line would do the trick.

Firearms Fuel&Fabrication

Lol. I remember when you were hating on 300blk. I do recommend looking up the spicy boi 300blk. Puts it there with mk262 mod 1 but more energy. 85gr pill at 2750 out of a 16" bbl. Dayum!! I have not tested it yet but sounds promising

Matt Geiger

Well to be fair the commies are mostly a coastal party, the map is like 95% red but they do like to herd together

The Nutnfancy Project

Roger that, you’re welcome. Sounds like a good plan to me bluegill. Maybe the future versions will entice you ha ha

The Nutnfancy Project

Even as is, I still like this thing a lot for that full specific philosophy of use. And I was wrong, 300 blackout has gained a lot of attraction in the market and hits harder as you note. I have a 556 ecosystem however, hard to switch over and I do like 77 grains

Bluegill097

Undoubtedly. Like Doodle said “version 4” will probably join the collection someday. If we aren’t too busy fighting off AI communist chipmunks by then lol

steve garrett

the helicopter pilot that caused the accident in DC was a lesbian. Do you think DEI was a factor? we never get to hear any stuff on your piloting. it would be nice if you talked about it sometime.

Chris Fischer

I am still rocking my 11.5" AR pistol build as a truck gun. It being classified as a pistol is a hack, I can bring it to 29 states bc I have a ccdw

David Elkins

Those types don’t endure the bad weather though. They just huddle indoors until it passes. In Alaska they mostly just stay for the summers.

David Elkins

I don’t think many would be buying braced ARs in it wasn’t for the ridiculous ATF and NFA. I don’t want to have to ask big brother for permission to cross a state line. Especially on a cross country trip.

Tacticaldoodle

I like the concept in theory but I just don't know how trustworthy the average cop is in understanding the difference. Even though they've been out for years, I'd still bet that the average police mindset would see it as an "illegal SBR". They don't really stay abreast of weapon development unless they're into the hobby, y'know?

Tacticaldoodle

That has to wait for a future time, when everyone is firmly in retirement. Last thing I need is being facedoxxed talking about there actually being differences between the sexes. That's high heresy to HR folx, you know?

Chris Fischer

I do. It's a risk I'm willing to take

Aquanaut

There are 4 counties around Puget Sound that have the population numbers to run rough shod over the surrounding conservative counties. They've done a good job of convincing a majority of the conservative voters to sit it out. Drives me insane.
