LMK what size blade, how heavy, how carried, brand, cost if you do. I am also planning a fixed blade EDC update

Matt Geiger

I have no choice but to carry fixed blades, I've ruined too many folding knives because I have to sandblast as part of my job and the sand just destroys the bearing or other mechanisms

Mitch Maris

sometimes. i mostly carry demko ad20 or ad20.5 but i do carry a freereign from time to time. all magnacut. stinking salt life lol

Younggun995

I carry the kizer muskrat horizontal just left of my jeans snap. I use those "snap loops" to attach it to my belt.

Charles Steimle

Mostly only carry the fixed blade when on the homestead/farm. 5 inch in leather sheath. 8 oz. Homemade by a friend. $150. Bush craft style knife.

Loki

Prefer an assisted or Manual Kick Mechanism.

Garrett Abraham

Yessir I do, everyday. Electrician foreman (still work in the field) and farmer. Usually a strider DB-L, DUB-L, DB, or a knife made like that from a good friend of mine. The DB and DB-L are 1/4 thick spine so I can pry to my hearts content. I still managed to break the tip on the DB. Just the first 1/8 inch or so, and it shot off like a bullet. In my humble opinion, with size and weight in mind like you put into words better than I do, a fixed blade is in a weird spot for edc. It’s a lot of weight, and what is it offering you that a hard use folder can’t? As an Emerson user I already have something that cuts well and is ergonomic so I can do it safely. What is the point of a fixed blade that does the same jobs? I already have two folders on me 90% of the time anyway. My fixed blades are mostly for prying so that’s what I end up actually taking the time to strap on the belt. My DB-L has pried probably 15 quazite boxes in the 2 weeks I’ve had it? Definitely a use case to be made I’d say. Cheers everyone

HappyFrancisMacomber

Fixed blade usually a backup or clipped to external bag / molle for hiking, hunting, outdoors. Always a folder in pocket (or two). Smaller blade typically - Le DUCK (cheap perfection). Asher lil buddy (3V and S90V, sometimes on sale for $100 or less). Filson trout & bird ($100+ expensive for what it is). Will do cold steel SRK or (3V worth it - $140 or less) drop forged Bowie (under 60 at midway USA - lively in hand) for longer excursions or campsite.

Garrett Abraham

Excellent point not a lot of people consider. Foundries and places like that will ruin them too from metal particles around

Schventagon

At one point I carried a CRKT KISS, but I did not get much utility out of it, and always went for a different blade (folder, leatherman, or victorinox are my three conatant companions) when I needed a knife.

Caleb Gips

Almost have exclusively gone to fixed blades. Knives most carried are the big idea design USA lookout, Schwarz overland sport, and Nuge wicket xl. Tried the Benchmade Dacian for a while. Worked alright but is a little big at 3.5” and the sheath wasn’t that great. Ended up getting another sheath made. 3” seems to be the sweet spot since I like to pocket carry. All around $200.

Keevin pruitt

I usually carrry 2 blades. A small folder in pocket (spyderco dragonfly) and fixed blade defensive fighting knife. Palm swell blade edge on reverse side for slicing when pulling back rather than thrusting.

DudeDudeDude

Now this a a favorite of mine I pocket sheath carry small fixed blades. Several smaller Bark Rivers, A small Izula, LT Wright, Lon Humphrey, I know I am missing a few. My favorite is the Bark RIver Murray Carter knockoff. I really like that MC design. Most of them have smallish blades 2-3" and are 5-6" overall. Often advertised as being neck knives.

David G

Used to carry a cheap 3” fixed blade along with my folder. Just a simple no name brand. For utility mostly. Had to quit when I started working in a factory. Kept snagging the damn thing on all the machines. I do keep a RAT3 in my bag though.

Thomas M Morse

Kinda difficult to carry a fixed blade in the hospital, unless it's a scalpel.

JTIII

Esee Izula II w/ belt clip (in addition to a folder).

Chase Ferguson

The recon 1 tanto pocket clip carry. It is near fixed blade though yet easy to carry and lightweight with enough blade to feel dangerous in a fight. Carry cadet for all other admin knife uses.

WILL SMITH

I pretty much only carry an esee 3 s35 fixed blade now for my edc blade . I just feel like a fixed blade with around a 3 inch blade length and 5 oz weight has too many pros for me vs a folding knife.

Brian Carter

I pretty much rock a 3” folder every day. It’s my letter opener. Lol.

Spencer Price

AMTAC Minuteman, pocket sheath, like $500

Aceman1126

I tried the edc fixed blade thing but honestly it was annoying. Unless I'm camping or doing lot of outdoors stuff there's not a lot I can gain from a fixed blade knife. My pm2 and livewire (which you would LOVE btw) do everything i need and have blades of similar size as to that of what one would carry in a fixed blade.

Patrick Brichta

Only when hunting or camping, cold steel srk or mora variety

Chris Lacher

I carry a Sheffield utility (folder) daily. I've lost several nice knives over the years, either setting them down and forgetting where or getting picked out of my pocket by brush while clipped there. I keep about a dozen of these lightweight, inexpensive knives: That way I can give away the one in my pocket and grab a new one (about 10 bucks worth) when I get back home. Also keep a pack of "carbide" replacement blades. My expensive fancy knives are safe in the collection now, to be used on special occasions.

JFire

Yes, daily. Right now it’s the Bestechman Goodboy in olive/FDE.

Antwon Harris

I gave it a shot but didn't care for it. Almost stabbing my fat roll trying to sheath the blade wasn't cool either. I had a CRKT Spew and Case fixed blade.

Jimbo

Benchmade 940 Osborne folder in green from BladeHQ (3.4" CPM S30V)

William Benson

CRKT Obake ever since I saw it in one of your videos many years back. Tucks nicely into the belt line. Though to be honest it is secondary to the folder that gets changed out based on mood and what I'm wearing or doing for the day.

Kyle Zimmerman

I have a Kaiser Smolt setup for Pocket carry in my EDC rotation, but when I am hunting I carry a White River Ursus Cub Pocket carry for skinning game. Ulticlip is the only modification needed for the shelths that come with them

Chandler Theis

For a few years now I've been carrying a Dynamis (made by Winkler) razorback in my wasteband off duty or under my body armor at work. Strictly a last ditch weapon. All my utility tasks are now done with a multi tool

Paul Kwiatkowski

I rarely carry a 4” Mora kniv or 5” Strong Arm but they are always in the car, winter coat or tacklebox. But EDC is a Cadet and 2” Swiss Army. My favorite EDC was a TNP Dragonfly, it went to some special friends.

GMAX

I would love to, but it’s illegal in Colorado from what I’ve read. But I also don’t need that horse power on my hip currently.

Chris Fischer

I plan to start carrying a fixed blade soon. Scout carry

Paul Kwiatkowski

…and a Lightning Elite OTF on my own property because it’s verbotten here in Maryland.

squaretac

I mainly carry a Benchmade 940. I have tried carrying a fixed blade and I don't like it.

FishFinder Jonny

I have carried the Helle Fossekallen fixed blade EDC as a warehouse worker every single work day for 8 years. It’s just big enough to do serious stuff with, but it’s got amazing SAWC stats. 4.4 ounces total with sheath, only 8 inches overall. The leather sheath looks good and holds up well with extreme use. I’ve replaced the sheath once in 8 years of EDC. Price is good too. https://us.helle.com/products/fossekallen-12c27

Kinoons

I’m still carrying the manix 2 lightweight I purchased something like 10-12 years ago since the TNP review. 11/10 boys!

Joey

Cold Steel Rajah 2. Full size folding Kukri and carry’s great!

Ross Coomer

I'll carry a CRKT Obake in addition to my folding knife and Juice S2

Bluegill097

I own a fix blade to carry… but I never do

Vance Shaffer

Normally carry a benchmade mini bugout to the office and around town. Sometimes ill reach for my MKM Makro 1, 2.33 oz, went with available kydex sheath (scout carry style but in front), but comes with leather sheath with a magnet to retain in pocket. M390 steel, canvas micarta handle. OAL is 6.54", blade is 2.87" drop point style. approx $150

STLParkRanger13 (IG: Sharpshooterjon)

Are you psychic? It was literally looking at fixed blade knives for everyday carry today. Decided against it, already edc'ing too much.

Chris Kales

I typically carry a folder EDC instead of a fixed blade - easier to carry in my pocket and less likely to have legality issues in my state. WROL scenario - fixed blade 100%.

Alex Roper

I've been carrying the CRKT minimalist spearpoint with the flytanium scales. Its been about a year since I've had it and its mostly a 2nd cool type of knife. I rarely use it for anything more than opening things but its light enough that it doesn't bother me. My skeletool gets used the most.

Matthew Sinn

I answered no but I have thought about it. Neck Knives are certainly in my collection and I have gone down that road

Jardine

ESEE Azula ll. Under 2" and weighs almost nothing. Can be worn inside or outside the waistband.

John S

I mostly carry a Delica. But have carried a Osborne 940 and a Cold Steel Code 4.

Jim Gillespie

I carry a Benchmade Infidel Auto blade. And a Leatherman Juice C2. Like my carry gun. Never leave home without them. Do not carry a fixed blade, except for occasionally a neck knife. Personal carry or duty carry.

Joshua Pulliam

I occasionally carry an Apprentice. It is a custom fixed blade made by Tyler Denny. I don’t carry it often and mainly only do because I know Tyler from my local knife store. He seems to be there hanging out when I come in to look around. The overall length of the Apprentice is 5.5” with 2.25” of cutting edge and it weighs 2.34 ounces including the sheath and Ulticlip. Steel is MagnaCut and it has a sick urban multicam cerakote. I carry it in my left pocket. (I’m left handed) price was somewhere in the $225 ish range. But it is a hand ground custom.

Ed Hopkins

For what I use my knife for, I can't justify the SWC. Kershaw AM4, a Sheffield utility, and a Juice are my go-tos.

bugout

From a old Nutn vid I carry Le Duck fixed blade!!! on the belt, 90deg weak side cross draw.

Gary Groeschke

I occasionally carry a boker bff it’s a nice little fixed way. It comes with a leather sheath and clip good for the pocket. Other than that I go to is a bench made mini Claymore auto.

Paul Pettefer

Yes sir, I have a folder in my pocket, and a Clinchpik by Shivworks on my belt, just under my buckle at all times!

Cesar C

Picked up a Tops Silent Hero 4 a few weeks ago. I've been carrying that every day since then. 8.88 in, 6oz. 4in cutting edge. I just about always have a Spyder Co Manix 2 lite on me, and I've carried on and off an ESSE 3 and the CRKT Minimalist Katana.

Matthew Sinn

I wish that was still available... would round out that corner of my collection

David Elkins

Yes but only very occasionally and not a big blade. Tops CAT. Para 2 is in my pocket 100% of the time.

Shot442

I daily carry the Benchmade SOCP dagger in the sheath with pocket clip it comes with. Double edge 3.22 inch. Carry on strong side in either Vertx or LAPG jeans that have an extra side pocket that runs straight down. $130

GrizzlyRising

I carried a Cold Steel Spartan when I living in Skid Row. I switched to a Schrade 10" mini machete under my left shoulder. Since then I've carried a HX Mercenaries "tactical knife." it's a small knife, and I used it as a neck knife https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51qkNbE7tyL._AC_UF894,1000_QL80_.jpg. I lost my first one. I got another one off of Aliexpress. I've been carrying a CS Luzon, I have both the large and small one. I'll carry the large one if I have a deep enough pocket. I'm toying with carrying the Civivi Praxis again. I can't afford the high end, cool knives. I make due with what I can afford.

Todd Strelka

Once in a while I will carry a fixed blade EDC knife, a Le Duck.

K

Benchmade altitude. Not always, but on a regular basis.

Carl Viars

In the South who doesn’t carry a knive.

Justin Golden

I voted 'No,' because 99% of the time I carry a folder, but every once in a great while I carry a Maverick Customs Harpoon, or my beat up Buck 673 in a belt sheathe. On a very rare occasion, I'll conceal a Cold Steel Spike on a neck chain.

TheOlsonOutfit

I don't carry a fixed blade, but my wife does 😮

ThisWe'llDefend

3.6" Benchmade OTF for EDC. I reserve the fixed blade carry for in-field environments only. However, in WROL I would totally carry my 5" fixed blade, as well as other upgrades.

Jeremy Hicks

I usually have a neck knife. 2"-4". Usually under $50. CRKT, Cold Steel and a few others. Weight varies. I most often carry ones designed by Alan Folts. Every once in a while I'll carry on my belt. I used to carry a Bradford Guardian fairly often, but I just kind of got out of the habit. Dang, I need to carry that again!

TechNeck

I used to carry nothing but fixed blades. A full sized usmc fighting knife... but as public tolerance dropped i moved to smaller blades, i have a hand made alaskan knife i carried untill the sheath came apart. These days because of work and site restrictions on "weapons" i primarly carry a folding pocket and my fixed blades live in my truck door.

Alex H

I stopped carrying folding knives for fixed blades 2 years ago.

andrew billings

Commercial fisherman in Alaska and west coast. This knife comes with a handy marlin spike and a shackle key. Kinda have and kinda fancy but great usefulness AND looks cool in town. Multiple times the deckhands are going to get a crescent wrench to break a shackle and I’m like “I got it” and break out the marlin spike. https://www.bladehq.com/item--Myerchin-Gen-2-Offshore-System--37093

Guy Actual

I carry my Shivworks Clinch Pick 2.0 everyday along with a few folders in rotation. (TNP Dragonfly, Endura ZDP, Ferrum Forge Crux, Osborne, Provoke, RAT and a few more) From time to time I carry other fixed blades such as Benchmade Infidel, ESEE 6 and sometimes on Halloween my Junglas or RTAK II :)

Nature B

I carry three knives as part of my edc but the only fixed blade is a titanium table knife that I keep in my right pocket along with a fork and spoon. They are my attempt to use less plastic-ware. I carry a leartherman surge along with a full bit set and extender in a pouches on my belt left side along with a flashlight. I carry a camlllus Titanium folding knife in my back right pocket via its clip.

ToddDavey

Shivworks Clinch Pick or an Ed Calderon fruit knife

Michael Szymborski

ESEE Pacaya in horizontal Armatus sheath. Stock sheath is awful, but love the knife.

wil perez

Boker Kalashnikov XXL $60 from bladehq

David Forsberg

Bark River Bubble bee 2.6oz 6 inches oal elmax steel. Leather shealth

Jantzen

Kbar TDI- the smaller of the 2 sizes

JOSEPH

TDI Ka-Bar original LE fixed blade (along with a folder, usually)

Nathan Bashaw

I always have a Swiss army with the 2.5in large blade. Sometimes carry a dedicated 3-4inch folder, but in my environment it isn’t a daily requirement.

Jeff Freeman

I carry a Kershaw Debris folder. You had a video recommending the Cargo IIRC and I thought it was a pretty good fit but was a little bigger than i wanted, so I grabbed the one that's one size smaller.

Rob Miller

I have carried rotating TNP blades ever since I started buying them. Some signed some I never sent in. Been stuck on the smaller Blue Spyderco for a year or so now.

Rob Miller

I carried the white TNP (tuxedo) edc for a stretch.

PlantDaddy91

Not always, but when I do, they are: Fox River Fennec custom, Bark River Little Creek 2, and an RMJ Orlando Special. So, a 4.5" defensive knife, and a couple of 3-ish inch work knives. The Fennec is pocket carried, using a vertical Mummert Knives clip. I don't remember the weight, but it's not much. The Little Creek 2 is appendix carried on the belt, in the Bark River sheath. Nutnfancy, ya know. Weighs... also not much. The Orlando Special is about 5-ish ounces, with the sheath. It rides 4 o'clock, IWB.

bugout

I might have 2 bro...

Charles Wester

Yep, Cold Steel Kobun. The knife is lightweight and very narrow so it's perfect for EDC, but the sheath sucks. I made a leather sheath for it that fits in a special sneaky pocket that I sew into my pants. I've been carrying it that way for about three years.

david rockwell

When at work an Exodus Knife and Tool Jackalope. When not at work, two (02) 3 to 4" fixed blades (various rotation) with Ulticlip pocket carry (one for each side). Fixed blades are cool and always ready.

Txgunner69

Boker plus yurco 5.61oz with sheath blade length is 3.39in Iwb

Josef Shaker

I’ve been carrying a Doom Blade folder for around 4 years now. I’m a telecommunications field tech and use it daily. Amazing enough I can’t kill this thing!! It’s D2 steel, has a decent pocket clip and is built like a tank.

Stuart Z

CRKT minimalist IWB at 11:00 is my most consistently carried knife. It’s on a paracord loop, so I can tuck it behind the belt and make it disappear even when wearing a tucked in shirt for work.

rodrigo prado

COLD STEEL FM1 ATLAS - $200 - 3.5” s35vn blade - 3.8 oz. - titanium scales - KING EDC

Ben H.

Honey badger, cobra tek otf or lighting otf, cold steel recon 1 is what i usually carry.

Cheesewell

I don't personally. But at least 3 or 4 guys at work do, there's definitely a lot of people who do. No lie.

Koty LaPorte

No only because it got lost. I would say half the time I did when i had one

EDC Gear Guy

Sometimes yes...... When I do It's almost always the same knife too. Cold Steel AK-47 Field Knife..... I believe it's a 5.5 inch blade.

Mike M

Spyderco street Bowie. I used to carry the smaller ka-bar but like the size and weight of the street Bowie better

Big-Ern

Hey Y’all! Hunting/camping use mainly, but recently looking at some 3-4” fixed edc blades, for horizontal belt carry ideally. So far, like Kizer & Maverick Customs’ Harpoon & Mini cousin, and the Fallkniven PRK. Cheers!

TNSheep

This is a sometimes for me. Always leatherman, Always flashlight. Then depending I might add other things. The problem is my favorite fixed blade doesn't EDC well because its hard to belt mount it in a realistic way that makes it useful.

JK

I EDC a Benchmade Shootout. It’s not a utility blade and it only has to work once (my day to day doesn’t require anything beyond occasionally cutting packing tape). I’m not interested in figuring out how to comfortably carry a similar sized fixed blade.

Mark Raasch

I carry a Cold Steel SR1 Lite, 4" blade. Very useful in my farming operations.

Brooke Duncan

Winkler Operator, all black, in a kydex sheath appendix carried "static line" style behind the belt via 550 cord. I also sometimes will carry an Anza tanto knife with a white faux pearl handle in a horizonal leather sheath. She ain't just pretty, though. That's a tough, sharp knife.
