Really an IISA Episode on the FN FN15 rifles and carbines. No FN gun has tested bad in TNP and that goes back 19 years, holy cow. Here TD and I do a short format GRV (tank talk not withstanding, fun) on the TAC3 variation. FN has a milspec, military weapons mfr mindset with its AR15s. That's mostly good as the materials and quality are tops. However in terms of the bonerific competitive features it might lead to shrinkage. TD helps me break it all down, let's talk.

Notes From The Bunker

I picked up one of these about a year ago, dropped an Eotech on it, and have been quite pleased with it. Its form factor isn't much different than my other AR's, but for some reason the FN manufacture, rightly or wrongly, gives me a feeling of confidence that I don't get from some other brands. FN had a few Gucci-er models but this one seemed to be, for the money, one of the better values.

About 5 years ago, I built a 16” AR with a FN CHF barrel, BCM rail and BCG, and a 2 stage trigger. Kinda got to have the FN quality barrel with the modern upgrades I wanted. If a buddy asked me what rifle they should get money no object, this factory built FN you guys reviewed fits the bill.Awesome.

I've got an older version of this, the Tac 2, and it is excellent (I upgraded it with a Geisselle trigger). Also, Palmetto State Armory sells premium AR uppers with FN "machine gun steel" barrels. I used one in a build, and will be using more in the future.

Blue & black. We did get one as a refurb but it came with a bent crown and granules of sharp gravel in the box. OOF. I think we have a dark one in the collection too

I bought a Tac 3 and have had it about a year. Just wanted a Rifle to with my FN509. Kind of just ok I think. Felt like FN just put together high end parts from other companies and said hey here is a great FN rifle. It is good but you can build the thing yourself for half the price.
