Ask any layman what the best submachine gun is and they will probably say the Uzi. In fact a lot of "gun experts" would probably agree. If we go by numbers produced and used they could be right. But here in this feature length Uzi Carbine review I'll go over some of my findings that might tarnish the Uzi reputation just a titch. This is a Vector Arms produced semi auto version only version and they have a solid reputation, desired by many gun collectors. The values prove that. So while this is basically a PCC, the components/manufacture are the same [minus full auto and a few very intentional tweaks to keep Bubba from getting cute] and so we'll pretend this is an overall Uzi review too. I'm not the end all Uzi expert but with this gun I was forced to take a deep dive in this long term, expensive gun test.

The Uzi has been sold to us as the AK of the sub gun world: ready for dirt, dust, mud, water...whatever. That it will just keep on chugging no matter what is what most will say is the foundation of the UZI HOUSE. Enter the curse of the TNP desert...and several trips to the gunsmith. For sure this is just one example and I do make it a clear point that under the watchful stewardship of a Uzi trained armorer; keep one on retainer if you get one. But under his watchful eye I imagine the Uzi will shred just fine. But what happens when one gets out in the wild, like this one, and becomes a "cherished grail gun." Surely it will uphold the reputation built on decades of combat in wars around the world. Maybe, maybe not.

Maybe it is actually a particular piece requiring particular things to work right...who would have thought?! And there's more to the Uzi than just reliability or tempermentalness. I will discuss SAWC, ergos, sights, carry-ability, magazines, competitive options (including modern) and more. Will this be another TNP episode of shooting down the great ones (RIP GALIL fans https://youtu.be/p5dZalTLHDo)? Perhaps.

At any rate where here to have some entertainment and I will deliver on that front. And in the end you may find yourself x-ing the Uzi of your Christmas list. Money saved. But no matter what I say here the Uzi, in all its forms, will remain an icon, having left an indelible impression in popular culture and current events that will endure.

Why the Uzi Kinda' Sucks by Nutnfancy

Is this same guy from the old “Nutnfancy don’t know hell” video?😂😂

Maxreverse

From the guy in the back row Highly entertaining review!

Nate Berglund

Takes me back to the old school feature length GRVs!

“Nutnfancy don’t know hell!”

1/1/26 -> SBR -> Cut it down.

Patrick Lovette

Obviously it's the mp5 sd guys. Please...

Gilbert Cuzdey Jr

To answer your question, I'm a millennial and I'd much rather have an mp5 or mp7. PSA is making a braced mp7 style gun and I may get that and replace my sub 2k with it as a vehicle gun if they make it in 9mm.....now IF I had a short barrel Uzi, I'd display it in an open briefcase. I'd have it set up assassin style. UZI, spare mags, suppressor in a pocket etc.

Wyoming Homesteader

Before I even watch the video, let me ask why anyone wants a sub gun/PCC that weighs more than my duty rifle, which includes a 5.56 30 rd. 75gr. mag with glass and is under 7lbs, and has no more range than a 9mm? I understand the training cost of 9mm over a rifle caliber, and the 2nd cool factor of your favorite movie gun, but honestly, I just don't get the draw of an 8lb pistol.

bugout

My printx sd modular mp5sd can just got approved!

For me as a millennial my favorite sub guns are the MP5 and the P90 due to video games growing up. Playing Call of Duty 4 made me fall in love with those two. The UZI was in that game as well but it pretty much sucked compared to the MP5 and P90, so in a way that automatically made me have no interest in one in real life. I do own an SP5 though! A guy I knew had a MAC-10 full auto. First machine gun experience. Super fun! Great review, love the GRV's!

TechNeck

So many modern and ww2 sub guns that are better... I would take a ppsh, or a thompson first... Or a sg 543 or a even a cz evo...

JFire

I’ve been waiting for this video! Good to see practical (or not so practical) competitive options to my personal favorite, the SBR’d, suppressed, Scorpion Evo!

JFire

Exactly! I got into firearms because of that game and still love it to this day! I would love to have a MP5

JFire

😂

Okay, so Uzis suck and all but when is Tacticaldoodle gonna start making vids again?

Had a chance to pick one of these up for $600 about 15 years ago. Found it kinda heavy and strange looking with the 16" barrel. Wishing I would have went for it now, seeing those prices! Ended up going with something else that's still pretty cool though.

Rick Grad

If I could shoot one as well as Chuck Norris, I would definitely want one. The Sub2k scratched the PCC itch for me. Now, 11.5” AR with a red dot and Law Tactical adaptor/ brace…100% obsessed with them. I don’t know if it’s the recoil impulse or what, but it just dig it.

Red dog 1

I would much prefer a mp5

Steven Salina

What about the updated Uzi Pro from IWI?

Matthew Kale

I think when you significantly change from the design, as is the case here (open bolt to closed bolt) that's where the issues start. For semi auto, there are so many better choices. I went with a cx4, as I can never and I mean never seem to find a sub2k around here.

Blizzak454

The new uzii will be the PSA X9. Gonna buy that

The Nutnfancy Project

Yawn...nothing special about it, too heavy. With a stock maybe... It's just a re hash trying to keep sales going

The Nutnfancy Project

AR pistols are way more capable and indeed very entertaining. Here in this review I do hammer on 1st Cool a lot but it's mostly about the "cool" Uzi reputation. I would liked to have done this 10 yrs ago but couldn't find one

Mike S

I still think the MP5 is the best subgun on the market. The roller delayed blowback is miles above any standard blowback 9mm SMG/Carbine. Still appreciate your review of this gun!

Squid556

Weight and ergonomics seems to wash out my second cool attraction to that design.

Beck

Germans used to have uzis in the army, they basically didnt shoot them… they just took it, added a full magazine and toss the thing up inside 2nd floor and the gun went off until the mag is/was empty. No joke. Works fine for that.

Notes From The Bunker

The Uzi is typical of many grand military designs - once you get away from the original manufacturer, problems crop up. The thing to remember is that other than the MP5 clones, the Uzi is the only 9mm "PPC" that actually has a 'battlefield lineage" of actually having been used in wars. Even with the current crop of 9mm carbines from Ruger, KelTec, Marlin, Henry, Angstadt, etc, they are all designs that have never actually seen any military use. Before those guns were available you only had a couple choices if you wanted a 9mm carbine...the Uzi or the HK94. There weren't very many semi-auto Sten guns or Sterlings to be had...it was Uzi or HK94. THe Uzi, as imported into the US, was built by IMI on the line with their military Uzis. Even after making the necessary changes to get ATF approval for import, you still had a 'battle proven' design with gobs of surplus parts and mags. Nowadays, the Uzi probably isn't anyones first choice for a PCC...it's heavy and unergonomic...but the genuine Action Arms product seems to always chug along.

Thanks for posting this Nutn. Another classic review. I k own it sucks but being a child of the 80’s I’ll still need one for my collection! Keep ‘em’ coming please.

Bluegill097

Love when Nutn is PUMPED for a review, bad or good, those are my fav. Child of the 90’s: MP5 is the GOAT. No apologies. Yippee Kai-yaaay mother F&$&ker

Andrettski

Wondering what you went with? Andrettski in WA

I have an UZI.............by IWI/Walther............in 22LR. Got it strictly for a range table toy, total 2nd cool. If I could I would love a KRISS VECTOR full auto. I think mrgunsngear did a video years ago

Andrettski

From guy in back row, NUTN You gotta run 10K rounds through it, then it'll run like a hot knife through butta!

Called 5k. We already have a good idea of whatchu put in Sir, so we thank you. Crazy that this uzi video came out when it did, cause for whatever reason, it''d been cycling through my mind recently.
