Finally the official P99 review by Nutnfancy. We have discussed it a couple of times before but I've never got one and reviewed it. That changes now. This is a touchstone design that influenced many other pistols; you probably already own some. Lightweight, comfortable/adaptable ergonomics, low bore axis, lightweight, German manufacture, supreme quality, high accuracy, and the durability of a lifetime of use. I happy to report all these qualities were all intact as the production wrapped up.

Here we will look at the P99 OD FINAL EDITION replete with holster, collectible coin, and case. We rung it out and still come away mostly impressed with this proven combat pistol; it's still one of the best.

The P99, besides being a favorite European police gun for many agencies, it inspired such designs at the Canik 55/TP9 series (shown!), H&K P30, and the H&K VP9. It's qualities remain ever popular with the combat pistol lovers; for instance the TP9 has become an all time best seller and often leads the polymer 9mm market https://youtu.be/kYmq37o_zkk.

The P99's follow-on is the PPQ and as I've reviewed here https://youtu.be/HcV7l4AjeXk, it's even better and will always been considered "the sniper's pistol" in TNP. And of course I'll have to circle back and tell you how disappointed I am/was that was fired from being Bond's companion. The PPK is cute but no match for the combat abilities of the P99!

James Bond Best Gun: Walther P99 (Nutnfancy Review)

Love it NUTN! I have a PPK/S in 22LR that I adore. PDP Pro has been on the top of my wish list for years. Sending blessings from the capitol of New York State. -N.Y.Reload9mm

My grandfather-in-law gave me a P99 as a wedding gift. He was a police captain in Ukraine and had access to the new (at the time) P99. I still have it, but it is more of a keep sake than a carry.

PKK always awesome AWA (Always Awesome)

Haven’t watched the video yet, but super excited to watch it!!! Of course I already bought one of the final editions :)

Joseph

You know what’s also no longer in production the PPK

DudeDudeDude

Can't wait to watch this one. My favorite polymer gun of all time.

Was my GTW handgun from circa 2000-2022 when production stopped. Carried, shot in competition my first gun enough to wear out a barrel at 14000 rounds. The SA trigger is still the best stock polymer trigger out there. Am I/euro mag release was great as a southpaw. I replaced it in 2023 with the HK P30 with LEM trigger. Also went to the P30SK as my EDC.

I got the P99 Final Edition a few years ago. Great gun!

I’m a self admitted walther fanboy. Been carrying a M1 PPS since sometime around 07 or so and it’s still my preferred EDC. I also have a PPQ M1 and a P99 QA. Had the AS but I couldn’t get used to that trigger so it got sold. I also have a P5 just for the fun of it. Need to get an old PPK to round things out. I love my walthers.

Bluegill097

Funny, I would’ve bet money Brosnan carried the PPQ, what a lore fail on my part. Still don’t have any interest in any Walther other than the PPK though! Honestly if give the choice, I’d buy another Canik before I went with another Walther… 🤷🏻‍♂️ Alll the same, Cool table top Nutn, still enjoying the content!

MarcTX

big fan of all of the Walthers, P99, PPQ, PPS, PDP

Publius Cato

Forgot all about these. Lusted after one back in the early 2000s.

Love the P99. It seems forgotten. Very ergonomic and it really revived Walther after the very expensive P88 and P5 from the 1980s. As a CZ- 75 fan, the trigger on the P99 reminds me of a CZ-75 trigger with its break.

Elijah Ballard

My brother had the SR22 Ruger knock off. I really enjoyed that gun.

Got a gen 1 .40 and gen 2 9mm. I like the DASA trigger which I find safe for carry but with an excellent SA trigger. They also carry smaller than they are as the design is noce and thin for a duty gun and the shape tends to hide better than a glock, sig, M&P etc. Only things I do not care for..........the "anti stress" SA mode and the the amount of windage in the factory rear sight.

Cheesewell

No P99. Still have the PPS M1!

Fantastic Nutn!! Your recommendations on the PPQ and Canik’s are what started my passion for the type of pre-cocked striker fired pistols these are. I’m considering the final edition or even getting a PPQ M2 if I can find one. Hard thing to do.

Casey Jones

Total Walther fan. Bought the PPQ off Nutn’s review years ago and it became my fav pistol. I agree with the review, the only way I’d get a P99 is to collecting purposes.

JFire

I think is cool to see you have a first gen next to the final edition…the old and new. The wear…I mean love…on the first gen is cool to me. Can we get your thoughts on that pistol drum mag?

Bbomz97

P226 is one of my favs!! P99>>>PPQ. Love my Canik 55 single/double action with the decocker button on top of the slide!!!

STLParkRanger13 (IG: Sharpshooterjon)

I picked up one of these last year, one of the final editions. I'll be honest, I'm a fan. The grip texturing is a little.... anemic, but it's a capable pistol. I actually really like the decocking button, as I carry aiwb, and the peace of mind that it gives me is worth a little extra trigger pressure.

Big 007 fan, and i was very lucky to find a P99 for $420 when i was 22 years old. It is still one of my favorites, and pairs wonderfully with a Galco Miami classic 2. Admittedly, most of my favorites are Walthers, but as far as second cool goes, they do first cool very well.

Id love to see you review the walther ppq q5 match SF, have you ever gotten your hands on one? Obviously not for an edc but for range use, competing, duty use maybe? A beat em when your out of ammo kind of pistol with its heft and sturdiness.
