Lightweight, great looking in this Sniper Green CeraKote, very reliable, and adequately accurate. That is (or was?) the Lead Star Grunt carbine. It's not cutting edge but provides a good blend of componentry for its low price. A strange downside related to iron sighting is addressed and shown in the review. Some time is spent of the .300 Blackout cartridge which I like but do not love.

Some discussion ensues of the power levels and velocities achieved with 300 BO diff loads I used is addressed. Very few changes in this particular spec are rec'd; maybe a trigger and bigger maybe, a different barrel for higher accuracy. I will answer if I prefer this one vs a MINI DRACVO as a vehicle gun at the end.

[My first review on this brand posted in 12/25 https://youtu.be/y0YxyGNAlA8. It was in stock then I reviewed the pistol version of this. As promised here's the carbine review of the Lead Star Grunt. Many more gun reviews are completed and all, like this one, anxiously await air time in the Project. Thanks for coming out!]

The 300 Black That Outperformed Its Price: Lead Star 16"

Dude, once again something that I thought Nutn did that was goofy, or quirky, I have now fully bought into… I picked up purple tinted glasses for sporting clays, and now I get why you always wear them. It makes colors look “truer” to me.

FN Baby SCAR 300 Blk gets it done. However, AR15 A3 with Trijicon old school cool. No Dildos please unless you are going to a WNBA game.

Thanks Nutn. I always enjoy hearing your insight. You have never given me a bum steer. This rifle looks great. Very intersted in your can review with this rifle.

Dil... oh right, Airforce guy. Carry on.

There are mags made for 300 Blk but mags can be modified. For me, I compare 300 Blackout AR’s to a 30-30 lever gun. 30-06 Ruger No 1 for North America.

Xlnt, you got good taste in gear then. The purple tint is very versatile, good for contrast too

I need to step up on my suppressor reviews. That can is one of my older ones, LAHAR I think, it's xlnt

I think I would feel silly if I invested in a .300 blackout with a barrel longer than 9” I mean it’s designed around a short barrel. If I buy a .300 blackout, I’m using a 7” barrel, k-format suppressor, and exclusively subsonic ammo running in 20rd mags cause it’s expensive. It would be a car/home defense gun. Like a really big silent 20rd Glock 21 with a stock, that you carry off-body. Like one step up from the baddest pistol you can carry… hope that makes sense I’d try to stock about 500rds of my badass subsonics, and if I run out, I can slap another 5.56 upper on there

The Gates Family

I think of .300 blackout as the “other AR caliber” When I think of ARs, I think of 5.56 and .300

The Gates Family

How are you supposed to suppress this thing?

Elijah Ballard

I am considering a 300 blackout for my trapline guns because of wolves in the area. Large packs up to 100 in my area. I shot my wife’s cousins 300 black on 3 separate cans all with Hornady 190gr subsonic ammo and was not impressed with the sound suppression. I don’t think the weight and cost is worth it in my case. It still might be fun if I start reloading 300 blackout.

TVguru

Your song - Behind These Eyes is fantastic. Really touched me! Can you do a video about that - the concept and the crafted words?

Bravo

Still stuck with 5.56 but honestly I use my .22 lr way more. The cost and convenience is hard to beat. Nice to see an affordable 300 Black in the market.

kylenor

I want to get a 9" .300 blk but I live in a state where we can't have cans. So that kinda kills the fun for me. Great GRV!

Andrew Helsel

Boobs on shelf. Nice. Great summary video. High value, high quality, real-world analysis is something no other independent reviewer is willing to do.

Jason Burson

Looking forward to the 300 can info/ I only have one 300 black out and have a decent thermal and now Texas has cans more available. My teen has been using ar10 in 308 for deer hunting but we want to more quietly hit some hogs before they know which way to run

Big-Ern

I appreciate the timely revisit and review of the 300 Blk. Also, I look forward to the pistol and suppressor reviews mentioned. Additionally, I mainly run 556 (-80%) and just getting started with 300 Blk (suppression immediately in mind). Please note, for possible consideration sometime, a low back pressure can (i.e. Huxwrx Flow 9K, 300 Blk rated, good SAWC balance). Keep up the good work!

Elijah Ballard

For a direct thread on suppressor you would. QD setups like what YHM does for the resonator would work just fine.

Jeff Freeman

I have both. If I had to pick one I would stick with 5.56, but I think .300 is probably the better cartridge overall
