Op V. continues!  With trusty Jardine along we take it to the high hill top for first rounds of long range with the Palmetto .224 Valkyrie upper.  This is a -6º declination shot out to 715 yds.  We work up to it with a few pops at a "give me" 415 yds.  We're fighting the sun falling and need the sun's contrast to make out the target (for the audience too).   Hits!

Tired and sun having falling we show our simple eats.

OPERATION VALKYRIE: Long Range Op #1

Comments

Rob B

My kind of fun. The wife would totally not be down for desert camping either.

Nathan Simms aka Darkpriest

Look at Jardine hitting that plate at 400 and then at 700+. Sniper Jardine reporting for duty. Great video. Thanks for sharing it!

Stefan Diamandis

what is the Multicam rig Jardine is wearing? great vid!

Racing Psychosis

I think there are some barking spiders out there and not coyotes. The long open range out there is something else. Around here my shots are 250 yds and under with all the hills and woods. My camping is typically in an converted enclosed trailer at the kart track sleeping overtop of the racing karts on a nationals race weekend, pretty awesome, usually only a handful of us crazy enough to do it. Everyone has to have that cushy bed in a hotel. Tracks are just now being let open in Indiana, hopefully the rest of the Midwest soon. Cool stuff out there, enjoying the video adventure with you.

Nutn, check out Skinth Solutions out of Canada. They make excellent little cordura nylon edc pouches in a multitude of sizes. The Micro Shield version fits a Leatherman Juice just right. Loving the Operation videos.

Connor Murphy

Great video as always. I really appreciate everything you do for us.

Chris Adkins

Another great video, thanks Nutn! And that's right, when you only have 20 minutes of daylight left and you absolutely have to get some more shots, send in the southpaw. Way to go, Mr. Jardine, way to represent.

Chris carr

Sunday funday!!! My son was having a hard time learning to ride a bike with out training wheels, our new moto together, embrace the suck!

Kenny VanCleave

Great show. Outstanding shooting. Jardine is a hell of a shot.

Zachary

Miss the open desert. I hope BLM land & forest will still be around for the future generations. Great video

Douglas Cuvilly

Is having an AR-10 with reliability issues even make sense when you can run a .224 upper ? Comments, thoughts?

Gyorgy

Great vid! Can't wait to shoot my new 20 inch Colt 5.56 build. Do you think a 6-20 powered scope is suitable for an SPR ?

Nick Campbell

Needed this little bit of escapism today. Thanks for that.

Craig D Olson

awesome video. i wish i lived in an area where i could shoot on public land.

TenaciousAmerican

Man what an adventure! The Full length approach has given me a new perspective on all you do. Thank you. Mike Jardine....What a shooter!

chris carrigan

writing this before i've watched the whole video. IV8888 did a huge series on .224 valkyrie a while back including custom barrels, twist rates, bullet weight, bullet seat depth, super in depth stuff that only the 1% of shooters would even approach. they still were only able to get essentially as good of accuracy as an excellent 5.56 load. seemed like a lot of hype that got debunked. now to watch your long range testing where you prove me wrong :) btw, the new knife is dripping in second cool, have been carrying mine with pride. wife had the gall to ask why i got "another" knife lol.

BRIAN J ANDERSON

You need a DCC (designated camp cook) to feed ya'll and maybe charge batteries :) + "other duties as assigned" load mags, pickup brass, etc.

Aaron

Sir, I’d like some more...please!

James Dillman

Loved the video. Jardine is an outstanding shooter. I’ve been self-quarantined since the first week of March. This was a great escape from the realities of life. Thanks, Nutn and Jardine.

CounterMeasure

“And, and my PB&J wasn’t toasted right...” That one got me lol

David Elkins

When the Army finally selects the next battle rifle in 6.5 or 6.8 you guys are gonna have to do this all over again. And everyone will be clamoring for new rifles in the new caliber. :D

Lee Lenser

The data from this info was great! The relationship you have with Jardine (forgive my spelling) is priceless! Glad you are doing tnp epic videos again with a buddy! That's really what it's all about.

Jack Ryan

Great content. Waiting to receive a new scope and scope rings then out to the desert to zero and stretch out to some range. I was always frustrated and pressed for time driving out and then back. Never crossed my mind to camp out there. Good idea...

Daniel Herb

Pretty pumped those rounds hit the far plate! Good shooting

Matthew Sinn

Hey Nutn. Loving this series. Jardine is a hell of a shot. Unrelated, but I'm curious if you've been putting an RDB-S through its paces at all? I've had my eye on one since your review but much prefer to handle things like guns in person before buying them, and haven't yet had a chance to. Any word on improvements/updates in the production models since your experience with the pre-production one? Thanks as always for what you do.

Todd Strelka

This has been such a fun series to watch. Dang, Jardine is a good shot. He's an asset to the TNP Crew.

Brad Fegan

Looks like a lot of fun and freedom out there.

Mike R

Love this series after all the videos come out I'm going to binge watch all of them again!

Pezz

Of course this was awesome as always and quite hilarious with that placing two to four stuff in the car and then out of the car in the back in the car, lol. Yeah we can be a Fickle bunch. Almost done with the video and I hope the 77 grains do okay as that's what I'm hedging my bets on still. Although if the cost continue to drop I may indeed pick up a tutu for upper and some magazine for 700 yards and beyond shooting. Just sadly the best range we have around here only goes out to 300 and here in this part of the country you have to have private property or a gun club to have that kind of range opportunity.

Daniel Gray Webb

It's cool, still not sold on it yet. Who knows 224 might become popular enough, look at 300 blackout. It's a lot to fight to replace 223/556, everything out there is so perfected from the actual ammo to the platform. I'm not really into shooting extended ranges, beyond 300yd, but the ballistics at 300 to 400yd is interesting. I'm also interested and curious about the recoil and sawc of the round compared to 223/556.

Michael Jackson

You mistook that coyote call. That was the mating call of the Mexican barking spider.

Brandon conley

Nice hits! Can’t wait to see how the 77gr. Compares.

Paul Grogan

"FREAKING AWSOME" Jardine is clearly on Valkarie T.D.Y. with that facial hair😂😂😂

Bbomz97

Strong work guys, sweet hits. Spotter and gunner!!! Would love to be out there with you guys. I think my wife would probably be down for 3 nights in the dessert, as soon as she pops that baby out anyway!

Anthony Schaad

Awesome series of vids ! I think the 224 really brings sumn to the table, I just don’t think I can convert from the 556 tho . Just too much already invested... but idk maybe save up n just by an upper to put on one of my builds! Wolverine is sweet, being a gear guy, any storage upgrades intended ? I have an X2 still trying to figure out how to upgrade smartly, hahaha !

Sgt. Pickles

All the MRE talk is giving me Cheese and Veggie Omelet flashbacks.

Joe Mack

Any plans for a TNP patreon Challenge Coin? Great shooting

Sean Evans

Really enjoyed this one. Great work boys. It’s much appreciated.

Sheepdog

Great episode Nutn. I'm so envious of you and Jardine. I can only imagine the satisfaction of knowing it all came together when you hear the rounds hit the target at 400 yards and then 715 yards. Also, talking about the day at dinner in camp that night. I would love to get to do that someday! Epic series, thanks!

Anthony Schaad

I’ve only ever have gotten to shoot at 300 yards at my Uncles Farm, in WV that’s long range haha. BTW TNP Boker extremely cool! Just received mine .

DisisSnake

I hope to see you plying with the 6.5 Grendel soon. Wolf makes inexpensive steel case and has good ballistics vs the .308. Im

Hold Fast Joe

Great series, wonderful idea Post the video driving around in that 4x4 too. It looks pretty neat

Shane Bailey

Great video! Looks like you guys had a great time!

Mr. Ed

Will always support so I can hear the sweet sound of long range lead on steel and you guys shooting the breeze through a mouthful of cheetos 🤣
